View 1 Replies View Related1 computer (Computer A) has 2 NIC cards. 1 NIC card is on the LAN which connects out to the internet.1 NIC card is connected to another computer (Computer B) via crossover cable.
Assume Computer A NIC #1 IP:
1.1.1.2
Assume Computer A NIC #2 IP:
1.1.1.3
[code]...
Computer A and B can ping each other on their connected NICs. But Computer B cannot ping Computer A's network/LAN facing NIC card. Also Computer B cannot connect to the network. I cannot use Microsoft ICS due to company policy. I think I can use the route command and have a persistent route that would allow computer B to connect to the company's network. Also the bridge command also seems disabled (even when I select both connections at once). How should I configure the route command? Should I have a default route?I assume from Computer B the default route would something like this:route add 0.0.0.0 mask 0.0.0.0 1.1.1.3Does the network connection from Computer A to B need a default gateway? Are there any extra commands aside from the default route which would allow full connectivity? I'm trying now just to be able ping Computer A interface #1 to/from Computer B. But no luck. I want to statically configure Computer B with the same DNS settings, and bring it up on the domain.
Each time I try to add a new route(route add 172.24.0.0 mask 255.255.0.0 172.21.0.4). I get the following error message: The requested operation requires elevation.

View 3 Replies View RelatedFirst this is my setup, i have a 100x100 mb fiber pipe at a location i am working at. i am comming out of a cisco fiber router to ethernet. i am coming straight from the fiber switch to the computer at a 1gb connection. So my problem is when i try to upload to my ftp server via windows explorer i can never get about 1.5mb, but if i upload via command prompt it goes at about 60mb upload, so the pipe is good. So you say why dont you just use the command prompt, well i have specialized gear here that run xp emmbedded and it does this via the windows explorer. I have tried 4 other computers and they all do the same thing. I tried a UDP video stream and worked at over 10mb stream. but all the ftp uploads cap out at 1.5mb.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have updated drivers or roll them back. Under computer, I right clicked on computer, then it shows like of hardware. Then I looked at date on driver and tried to update past june 27, 2006 or to roll many back . This increased my online speed but I could not get all drivers past that 2006 date & year, my computer thinks its the most updated version. It is not. This inability to change them or update still causes windows vista to be slower while operating. I guess I could buy the fix offered on web but I feel I shouldn't have to when I know the problem that microsolft built in. To bad microsoft isn't forth coming with an answer.

I took the router out of the mix, and now only the linux laptops can connect to the internet via ethernet cable. comcast support is useless.any ideas what could be happening here? Only 1 of the linux and 2 of the windows laptops were connected at the time this occurred.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am hoping to be able to connect remotely to my friend's Vista laptop (connected to the Internet via a dial-up in a developing country) from my own wireless broadband PC (Win 7).
Is there any recommended software that would enable me to do that or is Remote Desktop Connection able to do it, and what information would I need in order to be able to identify her on the Internet? I would have thought that any IP address that she can see under 'Network & Sharing Centre' or through the Command Prompt would only display the generic IP address of her ISP, wouldn't it? And would both of us need the same type of software to allow me to connect?

View 1 Replies View Relatedmy gateway laptop, running vista 64 home premium, cannot connect to the internet at home. connects straight to the modem via ethernet. displays as 'unidentified network'. according to the Atlantic BB tech(my ISP), my laptop is not obiaining an IP addy from the modem. The modem seems good, and the tech could see the modem from his end, but no IP addy from the laptop. ran ipconfig /all from home and the gateway was 207.255.36.1(preferred) instead of 192.168.x.x So i'm stumped with no net at home. the ipv4 properties do have the obtain automatically button checked, and dhcp is enabled. had the tech reset the provisioning on the modem & he said the mac addresses were cleared already. i reset the ipv4, ipv6, and winsock. haven't gotten anywhere. tech's last advice was to bring the modem back and swap it for another one.
