I'm running a home network with 3 computers via a linksys router attached to a westell modem. Is there a local network messaging system I can use to pop a message on a screen to one of the other computers? Can I use DOS?

View 5 Replies View Relatedi use an asus k50c and used to send wireless network connection from it until recently when i upgraded my OS to windows 7 and changed my antivirus to AVG internet security 2011. whenever i try to set up an ad-hoc network, it doesnt prompt me to turn on internet sharing which used to be there before and now no other computer can connect to my network, though it shows on the wireless network list.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI cannot get my server to send outgoing traffic through my network. I.e. If i try to connect to any of my services i get a very weak connection. Now, i can still CONNECT, i just don't get any data flow. I cant even PING the server internally, it just times out. Now, regardless of whether i use my internal IP/external domain, i get the same issue. I logged onto my computer and tried a speed test the download was normal (around ~20mbit) but the upload times out.
Here is the fun part, if i connect to the server using a switch, everything works fine! Is it my router or some stupid configuration issue? Router is a WRV54G (I hate this thing). Server is running windows 2008 and has a virtual machine.
I am looking for a way to send messages over my open network just like you wanted to. Can't seem to find an answer so far on line.

That is the message from computer 1 to computer 2.
Computer 2 gives me the message:

It did work ok but not now.Even after I put the setup disc into it, it does not show that it has recognised the router. I can only get it to work by using an ethernet cable. I tried to install my router onto it and it came up with a message saying it had "two network adapters, please click on one of them" or words to that effect. It didn't show anything to click onAlso she has recently bought a new desktop computer (Windows 7) and when I was looking into the routers settings it is still showing her name of the old PC she has scapped in the Network. Therefore on the BASIC NETWORK INFORMATION screen it says Network 2. I know this is probably not important but if she ever buys a new PC in the future it will show Network 3So what can I do to get rid of the old computer name on the router settings?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had Symfony modem with Asus ap and 1 d-link switch. i changed my modem because that was old and bought TP-Link(TD-W8961ND).It is connected to the Dlink switch and the switch is connected to the Asus Ap(RT-N12) The situation was the same just modem has been changed. Now i have this problem: i have internet with cable every where...behind switch or behind Ap...but when i wanna use internet with wireless via Asus Ap it doesn't work i checked every thing...the Asus Ap has 3 mode(Ap,Router,Repeater)...i chose every one but only repeater mode works. by the way with modem wireless i can get to the internet but the signal is fair for me to use!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just recently bought a new HP Envy m6 laptop that's not even close to a week old yet and I've run into problems with the wired connection. I have two different belkin ethernet cable cords to use and neither of them seem to be connecting whenever I plug them into the ethernet socket on my laptop. I've tried uninstalling the network adapters and updating the drivers. None of that seemed to have solved my problem so far.
Is there anything that I can do to solve this problem? I would be fine with the wireless connection that I'm currently using if it didn't fluctuate so horribly. I live in an apartment complex that provides internet access to me so I don't know what company they are using nor the router that is providing me with the wireless connection. I will be checking in with the management to see if it's not a problem with their internet tomorrow.
As for the network adapter itself, I have a Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter and a Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller. I'm assuming the Realtek adapter is the one that deals with wired connections. I'm currently running Windows 8 on the laptop.
I received the recovery CD's from Dell and reinstalled the operating system, But now I can't connect to the Internet and get the message that there is no network adapter. What do I do now? Do I need to use the Driver CD and reinstall also? [code]
View 2 Replies View Relatedi have two routers in my home one is my main router which is Netgear N600 and another Airlive router that is acting as a access point in the second floor attached by an ethernet cable from my firs router (Netgear n300). I bought WD 3TB network storage and plugged it to my Netgear router, i am able to access my files wirelessly from WD without any problems. However, i can't access WD if i am connected to Airlive.... well i can but it takes time to appear in my finder and when i tried to install quick view for WD it can't find WD in the network if i am connected to Airlive but it dose appear as soon as i am connected to Netgear.

I can also send test-emails, so the smtp is set up correct. In the Event Setup I have a valid server and a motion triggered event with the status ON. But no emails are sent . In the log there is also no indication of the server trying. Am I missing something - or is this not working for anybody?
And - there is no firmware beyond 1.0 for this model as far as I can see.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy roommate has just gotten a second hand laptop and he's trying to connect it to the Wireless network so that he can browse the internet from his room.However, although all the settings are correct, attempting to connect to the network loops.It comes up showing the Wireless Networks available, I select the network and click connect, it then asks for the encryption key. I enter the key and hit connect again, it comes up with the 'Connecting' pop-up and then loops back to the Available Networks screen again.There are no error messages, it just goes back to the starting screen and it hasnt connected.The Laptop in question is a Lenovo T60 with a Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG card.The router is a TP-Link TD-W8960N.
