Aug 20, 2012Is there or will there be a Windows 8 driver for the Dell 5540 mobile broadband HSPA card?Now that Windows 8 has RTM'd I was expecting a few more drivers to be released but this one currently doesn't work on my fairly new XPS.
Is there an alternative driver from the chipset manufacturer I can try? I'm happy to try out a beta driver if available.

Feb 2, 2010I have upgraded my 8600 to windows 7 and everything except the dial up modem seems to be working. Dell says it doesn't support windows 7 on this machine.
Windows does not see the modem when I look for hardware. Dell says it is an on motherboard modem and it is an MDC 56K V.92 modem.

Jun 8, 2012Im having problems connecting my broadband to the internet, when I press the "Connect" button here is what pops up;

1. Tried installing the software+driver to other laptops and it works fine.
2. Tried changing different modems and installed the required driver but ends up not able press the "Connect" button at all.
3. Tried Uninstall/Reinstall the software/Driver.
4. Disable/Enable driver from Device Manager.
5. Tried Doing a Recovery system but fortunately the recovery system goes as far back the first time I've tried installing this device.
6. Tried disabling Anti-Virus
7. Tried installing old version of Mobile Partner but it seems like it didnt detect the device and a pop-ups saying "Failed to find Port" when installing Mobile Partner 2.3 .This laptop used this broadband before 1-2 months ago.

When I try to troubleshoot on my PC, it says the modem is fine. All the lights are green on the modem. I did notice that I have an IP address, but no Gateway Address. Jun 22, 2011I can't get my PC to connect to my broadband. I am running windows 7 64 bit and use the following:
Motorola Surfboard SB6120 modem;
NetGear WGR614 wireless router
I am able to connect with other devices (iPhone, Roku) to my wireless through the wireless router. My computer recognizes the broadband connection, but it won't connect to it. I get two errors when I try to connect:651: the modem has reported an error, and 638: the remote server is not responding in a timely fashion.I have tried connecting the ethernet cable directly to the modem, but I get the same results.Also, I have tried to cycle down the computer, router, then modem and turn them back on in reverse with no change in results.The connection worked until I clicked "disable connection" one day when I had trouble connecting (high traffic i think). Since then, the"home group" I set up originally with the connection wizard disappeared, and it had not been able to connect since then. When I try to connect I click on a small icon in the lower right that says, "not connected, connection available", then I click on the button to connect to broadband and get the errors described above.

Aug 4, 2012Digital Business and my SRP527W router has just arrived. While I wait for my digital business to be activated i've got a small Eee PC shareing its internet connection through a D-link (piece of garbage) router into my server and out to my LAN.
What I would like to do is install the USB modem into the USB slot of my Cisco Router so i can finally get my data cabinet set up.
The problem is that the Telstra modem when being installed onto a computer, it requires a PIN to activate and then you are required to 'connect' via a little user interface.
Will this be an issue? Will i be able to connect my USB modem to my router while i wait for Digital Business to get going?

May 12, 2011I'm running into the same problem. I'm trying to connect my 6100 Westell Modem as well, but I'm going through Cincinnati Bell Zoomtown. They sent me a disk & it does't have the right software on it. I was told to look online & have had no luck finding where to download. I have to use USB to connect. I'm at a loss at what to do. Have spent almost 3 hours on the phone with tech support at this point!
