May 10, 2011So we just got a new router for our higher speed internet. The modem is an Actiontec Q1000 from Qwest. We used to live out in the middle of nowhere, so we never needed to secure our internet. Now we live close to neighbors and we need to encrypt the wireless. When I try any encryption, however, I can't connect at all. I have tried temporarily having it unlocked and I could connect without a problem. It also works fine when I'm using my Ethernet cord.
Heres my IPCONFIG.

Broadband - The Modem Is Already In Use
Jun 8, 2012Im having problems connecting my broadband to the internet, when I press the "Connect" button here is what pops up;

The modem (or other connecting device) is already in use or is not configured properly.I've tried doing;
1. Tried installing the software+driver to other laptops and it works fine.
2. Tried changing different modems and installed the required driver but ends up not able press the "Connect" button at all.
3. Tried Uninstall/Reinstall the software/Driver.
4. Disable/Enable driver from Device Manager.
5. Tried Doing a Recovery system but fortunately the recovery system goes as far back the first time I've tried installing this device.
6. Tried disabling Anti-Virus
7. Tried installing old version of Mobile Partner but it seems like it didnt detect the device and a pop-ups saying "Failed to find Port" when installing Mobile Partner 2.3 .This laptop used this broadband before 1-2 months ago.

Apr 29, 2012I don't think it's my PC, because I tried using the Ethernet cord on my laptop, and got the same error "limited or no connectivity..." When I try to troubleshoot on my PC, it says the modem is fine. All the lights are green on the modem. I did notice that I have an IP address, but no Gateway Address. Also, I'm sending few packets, but receiving even fewer.Is it safe to say that this is a modem issue? Or something else? Is there anything that can be done? -resetting the modem did not work.

Jun 22, 2011I can't get my PC to connect to my broadband. I am running windows 7 64 bit and use the following:
Motorola Surfboard SB6120 modem;
NetGear WGR614 wireless router
I am able to connect with other devices (iPhone, Roku) to my wireless through the wireless router. My computer recognizes the broadband connection, but it won't connect to it. I get two errors when I try to connect:651: the modem has reported an error, and 638: the remote server is not responding in a timely fashion.I have tried connecting the ethernet cable directly to the modem, but I get the same results.Also, I have tried to cycle down the computer, router, then modem and turn them back on in reverse with no change in results.The connection worked until I clicked "disable connection" one day when I had trouble connecting (high traffic i think). Since then, the"home group" I set up originally with the connection wizard disappeared, and it had not been able to connect since then. When I try to connect I click on a small icon in the lower right that says, "not connected, connection available", then I click on the button to connect to broadband and get the errors described above.

Aug 4, 2012Digital Business and my SRP527W router has just arrived. While I wait for my digital business to be activated i've got a small Eee PC shareing its internet connection through a D-link (piece of garbage) router into my server and out to my LAN.
What I would like to do is install the USB modem into the USB slot of my Cisco Router so i can finally get my data cabinet set up.
The problem is that the Telstra modem when being installed onto a computer, it requires a PIN to activate and then you are required to 'connect' via a little user interface.
Will this be an issue? Will i be able to connect my USB modem to my router while i wait for Digital Business to get going?

Apr 22, 2013I have a Packetfront DRG700 broadband modem (fiberoptic), which also has a wireless DHCP server built-in. In addition I have a D-Link DIR-615 router which is connected by cable to the modem. I want both units to be wireless access points for the same local network.
I've tried disabling the DHCP server on the D-Link and naming both units with the same SSID and passphrase, but that didn't work because whenever I'm wirelessly connected to the D-Link, I get an IP address from my broadband provider and not from the DHCP server on my modem; i.e. I'm no longer connected to my local network.
I'm told by my provider that the reason is because the DHCP server on the DRG700 only works wireless, while the LAN ports are given IPs from outside the house. (I would use one of these ports for my broadband TV decoder.)
