How can I configure the Cisco 515E (version 6.3(4)) to be used with ADSL modem. Currently the compuerters are directly connected to the ADSL modem to get the priviate IP addresses and we would like to add the Cisco firewall after the ADSL modem.
ADSL Modem ---> Firewall --> Switch--> Computers
I was wondering if I picked up a used (End of Life) pix-515e, would would I need to do to be able to upgrade it to that latest version of IOS made for that product? Is it still possible to even get access to that version? Will cisco allow downloads for that devices IOS?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWe just switched over from a T1 line to 50/4 Mbps cable Internet. The speed was fine with the T1, but when we switched over to cable, the download speeds didn't increase. I'm getting 2-3 Mbps up and still only 1.5 Mbps down. I inherited this network a few years ago, so I didn't configure the Pix initially but I have been managing it and can't find a setting limiting the bandwidth for the liffe of me. I know it's not the Internet because when I connect a computer straight to the modem, the speed is great. As soon as I put it through the Pix though, it slows way down.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my Pix 515e from 6.3 to 7.08. Upgraded pmd to adsm. If I do a show ver, it states 7.08. But, if I do show config, it still shows 6.3.Why would they be different? Since adsm runs fine, I know that the upgrade went fine.

My network topology is like this :

1. I configure my DSL Modem in RFC 2684. The first use 172.16.0.2/29 and the second 172.16.0.3/29. I connect this devices to Fa0/0/0 and Fa0/0/1.
2. I configure Vlan1 to use the network configured on my modem :
interface Vlan1
ip address 172.16.0.1 255.255.255.248
3. I try to ping my devices :
#ping 172.16.0.2

I have a PIX-515E that I'm trying to configure for what I thought would be a simple task. I've been playing with VMWare ESXi on a Dell PowerEdge 1850 in a lab environment. The server's IPMI is bound to one of its two physical interfaces, which I've connected to Ethernet 1 on the firewall. The interface has the following configuration:

I have a cisco PIX-515e which i have connected to a emulator through the console port, and im having trouble erasing data from it.
I can get into 'pixfirewall' mode and 'monitor' mode but thats as far as i get. i have tried 'write erase' and 'configure factory-default' in both modes to no success.
I need to redo the configuration on the new one?

My question is really do I need to do anything funky to allow the traffic to pass between the two tunnels?
Lately I encountered random Internet connection issues?My router is a Netgear Wireless ADSL Firewall Modem Router DG834 (Firmware V1.05.0) and my ISP, isn't the most reliable regarding bandwidth... All clients (max 3 at the same time) connect wireless.The problem is that the last few weeks my connections is very unstable, all clients lose the internet connection until you restart the router manually.I can't even connect to the webinterface (192.168.0.1), during the downtimes.

There's also an ADSL module in it, which will connect into the same ISP AS. how do i configure BGP over the ADSL so that it sits there doing nothing until the primary link fails? access-list 101 permit tcp object-group INFRASTRUCTURE any eq telnet
theres a route to the inside net:
inside 172.16.0.0 255.255.0.0 172.16.163.1
and theres a translation:

when i try and connect, using a packet capture I can see traffic from 10.4.4.34 to the inside device 172.x.x.x on the inside interface but i cant see the traffic leave the outside interface ive used the same group infrastructure group before to connect to VM machines on the 172.x.x.x net on RDP and this wrks ok. access-list 101 permit tcp object-group INFRASTRUCTURE object-group VMs eq 3389
I am trying to set the PIX firewall to transparent mode.After I set it to transparent firewall, I allowed all icmp, tcp, udp traffics.Currently, any devices in the inside network can get the ip automatically from DHCP server in the outside network but cannot ping to any servers in the outside network either access the internet.Do I need additional confiration on the firewall?
