Cabling / Cards :: SMCWUSBS-N2 Doesn't Connect More Than 150mbps
Jun 20, 2011
I've just been working with an SMCWUSBS-N2 network card.[URL]as you can see in the URL, it states that the card can connect with the data rate up to 300 Mbps provided that the access point it is connected to can communicate in 300 Mbps as well.my access point is a linksys WAG160N ADSL modem.but I haven't been able to connect to the access point with more than 150Mbps speed.I almost tried anything that comes into mind at the first place.the wireless bandwidth is 40 MHZ,I downloaded the latest drivers for the card,i tried both in xp and 7,i upgraded the modem firmware to the latest version.i also tried the card with another 300 Mbps access point.but the results are the same.the only speed i'm able to got at maximum is 150Mbps.
I've just moved my desktop computer back to my parents house. there is an Internet connection in the house already. if I plug the cable into my laptop it works instantly. when I plug into the desktop there is nothing the green light turns on at the back of the tower but otherwise the computer doesn't register anything at all.
I have an Eee-PC and im trying to connect to the internet via my HUAWEI E173 MOBIEL INTERNET STICKWhen I plug it in it reds it, but only like a mass storage device.
I have a fee pcs at home...all are able to connect to the internet but theres only one thats not able to...the network and connection centre keeps and changing from identifying to not connected. The cable itself is fine.
I can open files, play videos, run programs, etc. Windows installed without a problem. However, I can't connect to the Internet. At all. I can't even register my version of Windows because I can't contact Microsoft for verification, because the connection won't get through. No Internet devices can be detected. That was with a long cable wired directly to our router, which is next to our modem. So, today, I bought a D-Link Xtreme N Desktop PCI adapter to connect. Still no connection... I don't think the PC even detects the adapter, because the drivers coming with the adapter can't detect it, and the light on the adapter doesn't turn on.That shouldn't happen. Both the cable and adapter go directly into the motherboard. My operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit, and my motherboard is an Asus P8Z68-V PRO.My ISP is Cogeco. All other computers and wireless devices in the house work perfectly fine.
I just got a new laptop. Like, just yesterday, but for some odd reason it can't connect to the internet in the living roomMore Info:Laptop bought yesterday. Absolutely new. Samsung, A6 Vision, Windows 7. It can hold to 480GB I think or at least around and has 6GB Ram. I brought it home, made the default brower Google Chrome and connected it to the home internet and entered in the security key/password, so it's all connected. IN the living room, the connection is really good. All the other laptops there -even my really bad old one can connect fine to the internet. My new one says it's connected, but no internet. But since the other ones get internet, I don't think I need to restart the router -although I did so anyways and it didn't work
After pconfig /renew (I get this error) No operation can be performed on pth while it has its media disconnected. An error occurred while renewing interface local area connect an operation was attempted on something that was not a socket.
I am also trying to wipe it but no not have XP disc and no one I know does either so what is the safest way?
We have 3 units of computer in our house uses a router and a 8port switch hub. The unit i am using can connect directly to the internet but cannot be mapped in lan. I tried pinging and i already assigned IP addresses in all units but still nothing happen. I already done format and cloned from the other unit.
i bought a netgear for my laptop and when trying to connect to it,i get through the connections to the setup and then it says that it detects a static ip address.
I am trying to connect CAT5e riser cable to a GE #76536 network and phone wall plate. The problem I am having is the CAT5e cable has 4 twisted pairs of wires as follows: blue/white, green/white, orange/white and brown/white. The wall plate connection has 8 distinct colors; blue, white, green, orange, yellow, black, red and brown. (or at least that's what they look like to me)None of the white wires from the CAT5e cable have any striping. They are all solid white. I've found color charts for matching striped wires, but I am at a loss to figure out how to connect these white wires to the proper terminals
I can connect to the internet using my neighbors wireless router but when I try to use my ethernet cable it connects me to "network 16" but the internet doesnt work. Ive tried different cables and different wall ports and that didnt work. It has been working before but I disconnected it to go somewhere and when I came back I had this problem. I use Windows 7 and Im trying to connect using Marvell Yukon 88E8057 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller.
i reformatted my computer 1 month ago, when i try to connect with ethernet cable it doesn't connect, but when i use the usb cable which i got with my modem it connects.btw i have a acer e389 which runs on XP(media center).
Ive been using an Ethernet cable to connect to the Internet for a while now, it was working fine up to yesterday where I left my desktop open for a few hours and came back to find that I have no Internet connection.
I used my laptop to test the cable out and it works fine, the wireless works fine too. There doesnt seem to be anything wrong with the modem since I still have Internet on the PS3. I used a different cable to test the modem again with my laptop and I had internet access. The desktop is still connected to the modem but it only gives me a network connection with no Internet.
I tried restarting the modem but it still wouldnt work and I also tried to disable then enable the connection.
Im using Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller with the latest driver.
i've connected a laptop with "Realtek RTL8168C(P)/8111C(P) PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC" to a onboard NIC of Asus M4A89TD Pro wich is "Realtek 8111E Gigabit LAN Controller", which both support 1gbps but they will auto-negotiate at 100mbps.
I'm having to use my desktop because my laptop(Toshiba Sattelite...runs on Windows 7) now has NO CONNECTIVITY. It goes from "Limited" to "No" connectivity. I have it hooked directly up the router now and NOTHING. I'm not sure of what to do. The command prompt doesn't work. I typed "ipconfig /all" then the next command was "ipconfig /release" and I got three lines of errors. DHCP is enabled only under the "I-E NIC" Everywhere else it is not enabled. When I hover my mouse over the bars at the far right of the status bar it says my wifi name and under it says "no internet access," HOWEVER, when I click on it...my wifi name is at the top and it says in bold letters CONNECTED.
I am having a problem where I can't connect through a cable. I running on Windows XP SP2. My comp. is a HP Pavilion a1483w. I have just reformatted it.
I am unable to connect to the internet through my wireless router. However, I can connect using neighbor's wireless connection and other laptops in my home are able to connect to the internet using MY wireless connection. The problem started suddenly, I used to be able to connect, then I had the problem so I rebooted and that resolved the issue temporarily. I tried disabling the wireless adapter card then rebooting, this did not work. I also unchecked the TCP/IPv6.
I need to connect 4-6 laptops in a mesh network topology. What equipment do I need (switches, hubs cable etc..) and how should I create the connection?
I've been trying for two weeks now to connect to the internet but can't. This suddenly happened on a Monday after I got home from work. Up until that point, I have had no problems. At first I thought it was my cable, but when I plug the cable into my brother's PC, it works. Then thinking it could be my network card, he picked up a wireless card for me, but still no go. I've searched these forums and many forums over the internet and tried many things but I still have no luck. I've scanned for viruses and malware but nothing has turned up.
I have Norton anti virus but installed Adaware per recommendation to double check. I also used Malware Bytes. On Xirrus, I clicked the ping test and everything showed as pass but still, low connectivity. I get that even when I plug in the cable. When I look at my connection status under activity, the bytes sent and received are in the low thousands.I have only a very basic understanding of networks. [code]....
So my roommates friend stayed with us last weekend and he wasn't able to connect to the internet so he updated our Netgear router. Ever since that update my Toshiba laptop has not been able to connect our wireless network. My other two roommates, though, have no trouble connecting. (they're both on MACs) He suggested that I update my drivers, but everything is already updated. When I plug in the Ethernet cable I can connect to the internet fine, having to come into his room late at night to watch porn.
I'm running on a Atheros AR5005G Wireless Network Adapter.
I need to connect to the console port on a cisco firewall, an rj-45 connector. The cable is a rj-45 at one end and a serial on the other. My PC has no serial port and I am unable to use the provided cable to connect to the firewall appliance. Is there software that can allow serial over my PC's Ethernet? I really don't have time to order a serial card for my PC.
I have a printer (epson cx6600) I wanted to connect to our router here so everyone can print to it. It only has a usb connector (which you would typically connect to your pc)... I did notice they have usb to lan cables out there and was going to buy one and connect it to the router that way.
Today I bought a TP-Link 150 Mbps Wireless PCI Express Adapter so I can pick up the internet connection in my house from my home PC. (We use a laptop most of the time which is able to pick it up fine).I've installed the wireless adapter into the computer and installed the drivers however I receive an error message:
"The device may not be present or could have been ejected/unplugged from the system. Insert of Reinsert Now."
I have an hp g62 laptop and it has an Atheros ar9285 wireless adapter and a realtek pci-e ff ethernet adapter. For some reason just recently neither will connect to my netgear cable wifi router. I have two smartphones, xbox and two other laptops that connect with no problem. Everything is configured correctly that i can tell and both drivers have been updated. still nothing, it trys to connect but keeps saying identifying then it says no internet access. also i have disabled firewall and entered the security paraphrase twice just to make sure.
i have encountered this problem and when i try to change the tc/ip the notification appear as you must install or enable network adapter card.. all the driver are updated ..
have had a new HP G62-234DX laptop for about 4 months now and I'm now having problems connecting to the internet via ethernet. The lights do not come up when I plug it into the port and I have already tried to download the Ethernet driver from HP but it didn't seem to install properly, tells me it only works for Windows Vista which isn't true. I checked my device manager also and saw that I only have my wireless network adapter showing which works fine because I've been connecting wireless but I need a wired connection when I do not have wifi at my university. On device manager I chose 'show hidden devices' and I saw an unnecessary amount of "Microsoft 6to4 adapters" come up which does not seem right.
Everytime i plug the cable into my PC it doesn't detect it and the helper says to insert an ethernet cable. When I go to network sharing centre and check my connections it says network adaptor unplugged.im using wireless at the moment. My pc is a packard bell ipower x9810. it was windows vista but i upgraded to windows 7, i checked the packard bell website and can't find any networking adaptors. I have also checked device manager and it says - Belkin N+ wireless USB adapter #4 NVIDIA nForce 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet. there is no yellow exclamation mark.
I have recently wiped my hdd and installed WinXp, I use to have vista but a crash occurred. I have WinXP SP3 with a Belkin Connect N150 connected to a Arris Telephony modem from Comcast. My setup use to work on vista. I've ran belkin setup from the disc multiple times and it gets to the part where it says connect and make sure cables are connected. All cables are connected, but my router has a solid amber light. I can access arris through wired internet, but I really want my wireless to work.
1) I had Windows XP 2012 Security virus that I removed. The antivirus software also removed afs.sys and afs.reg file, that I repalced from backup. I also copied and merged afs.reg Doing this got me an ipaddress for my PC.
2) I can not connect my wired desktop to the Internet. I can ping the ip address of google.com but not the url. I can also not ping ip address of netgear.com. My laptop has no problem connecting to the wireless network.
3) I ran Winsockxpfix and flushed dns and no luck. [code]
