View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to connect my two laptops with one Ethernet cable without any internet to a Network. However, just one of the laptops is identifying the connection, the other doesn't recognize that it has been connected to another laptop. Obviously, the cable itself is working (because one laptop identifies the connection), but what might be the problem that the other laptop doesn't recognize any connections?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to connect to the internet via the ethernet cable available in my office at the university but it won't work. I'm able to see other computers connected to the network, share printers and have access to shared files but have no internet access. I know that the problem is not the cable or socket because my old XP computer connects to the internet just fine.
I had a similar problem back at home but I just restarted the modem and was able to connect.
Setup:
Lenovo x220 tablet
Network card: Intel 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using a cable company called Cox.net for the internet. The cable modem is Motorola brand.Sometimes, the modem got disconnected due to outage in my area. But after Cox fixed the outage, I have to reset the modem. The problem is I do not know when the outage is fixed. Sometimes, I reset the modem and call cox all day long. Is there a modem which can reset itself after there is the internet signal? The second question is my desktop pc, which connected to the wireless router through a cable, sometimes displays a error page in IE8 (Internet Explorer). At the same time, the laptops using wireless can view IE8 pages.I think what happened is there is a internet signal outage in my house but the laptops got re-connected to the internet automatically and the desktop did not re-connect. Sometimes, I can ping a website on the desktop but I cannot see the pages in IE. Re-open IE does not fix the problem. The solution is to re-boot the pc. Is there a network card or software I can use to re-connect to the web after the internet signal becomes available? My pc's mother board has the network device to plug in the cable. The brand is Gigabyte.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI got a modem installed and was planning on using ethernet cables for my desktop as well as laptop. The laptop works fine (as I'm using it). The desktop on the other had a wireless adapter installed. I tried using the cable with the desktop and it would'nt pick up the connection. I took the wireless adapter out of the desktop and still nothing. I tried creating a new connection but it would only allow me to make a dial up connection. Not sure what to do.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy aunt called me about her laptop not being able to connect to her wireless anymore. It was working fine until last week and since then, she can't get on. She has a netbook that can connect to the wireless and a desktop that's plugged in from the wireless router. When she tries to connect to the wireless, it says it's connected but shows no internet access in the Network Sharing Center.
I tried plugging it in directly from the router and I get the same message. I've made sure to enable the wireless and have even uninstalled and reinstalled the latest driver for the card. It's an Acer laptop with the network adapters Atheros AR5B95 Wireless adapter and Atheros AR8152/8158 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller.
I have even brought her laptop to my house and tried to connect via wireless and a direct cable, but I get the same issue.
My hp mini will not connect to the internet, even with a cable directly from the modem. We downloaded a bunch of games from the internet, and then in removing the junk, may have deleted vital components. My device manager has "other devices" and under that has "ethernet controller" and "network controller," neither of which has a driver. Windows was unable to find a driver when I tried to reinstall the driver (although I'm not sure whether there should be one - the icon next to everything in this category is a yellow question mark). I thought the problem was just a wireless issue until this morning, when I hooked it up with a cable to try to find a wireless driver. It does not connect with the cable either, and now I am really lost.

I plug the same cord into my brothers computer and the internet works just fine. I plug the same cord back into the DSL and i have internet. I have done troubleshooting and it finds this problem (Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (DNS server) is not responding. I switched to a different cable modem same exact situation. Works on my brothers but not mine. My computer is a much newer and more capable computer then his. When we activated the internet we did it on his computer, but before we switched to charter i plugged the modem in without internet and it seemed to have the same problem. I just got more results on his as it immediately directed my to the charter page at that time. On mine i got nothing. ( Also i believe my brother said that it did work on my computer for a few minutes at first but i'm not 100% on that.)

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy network currently consists of one cable modem, and one linksys router.i was given a Belkin N router as a gift, and instead of returning it for a different brand ive decided to keep it. i would like to essentially use a splitter or switch in between my current router and modem. This is the plan. Keep modem and linksys router in the den, use a splitter or switch to split the signal from the modem to each router. Use a 50+ foot ethernet cord running from the splitter or switch through the attic and into another room.

my laptop has a very annoying habit of disconnecting from the internet, on annoying ass random occasions, the network dropped. When my laptop connected back to the internet again, my pc now says that there is no internet access coming from the cable. I have reset both my laptop and my pc, the router and changed cables. I have also enabled NETBios with TCP on both computers, but nothing.
