I wanna subscribe to Internet TV. To watch it on computer screen I need to log in to the site where I registered, i.e. enter my login ID and password. But I want to watch it on my TV WITHOUT my PC. I realize that I have to buy a TOP BOX , connect it to TV and to cable modem. The question is how the TOP BOX knows my login and password to pass it to the site through modem.How do I enter it to tob box?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI am using a cable company called Cox.net for the internet. The cable modem is Motorola brand.Sometimes, the modem got disconnected due to outage in my area. But after Cox fixed the outage, I have to reset the modem. The problem is I do not know when the outage is fixed. Sometimes, I reset the modem and call cox all day long. Is there a modem which can reset itself after there is the internet signal?The second question is my desktop pc, which connected to the wireless router through a cable, sometimes displays a error page in IE8 (Internet Explorer). At the same time, the laptops using wireless can view IE8 pages.I think what happened is there is a internet signal outage in my house but the laptops got re-connected to the internet automatically and the desktop did not re-connect. Sometimes, I can ping a website on the desktop but I cannot see the pages in IE. Re-open IE does not fix the problem. The solution is to re-boot the pc. Is there a network card or software I can use to re-connect to the web after the internet signal becomes available? My pc's mother board has the network device to plug in the cable. The brand is Gigabyte.

Keep modem and linksys router in the den, use a splitter or switch to split the signal from the modem to each router. Use a 50+ foot ethernet cord running from the splitter or switch through the attic and into another room.

I had a working LAN/WLAN for my home & home office, and the modem I was using got fried by the storm. Strangely enough nothing else was affected..Anyway, I went out and bought an identical modem, and had it set up with Comcast. If I connect directly to the modem, everything works perfectly. But when I try to attach my router to the new modem, I have no connectivity over wifi OR hardwired to the router. According to the status light on the router, it can't find a connected modem.I reset the router back to factory settings, installed the newest firmware, and moved my DHCP pool out of the default range. I then power cycled the whole setup - twice - with no success.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo saturday, my friend and i build my computer. Everything worked just fine that day. Sunday i had no problem connecting to the internet. Sunday is also the day i set up a password for my admin account.
Now when i came back from work monday, i tried to log in to my computer. As it appears, i forgot my password... (same i use on everything, so i must have messed up inputting my pass)
So i did a windows reset, since i had no CD or USB to reset my pass. I tried installing windows, and it appears 'this copy of windows is not genuine'. I thought, okay, no prob, as long as i have all options.
I bought an ASUS Black Diamond Dual Band Wireless-N 600 Router (RT-N56U) to upgrade from my older router but I'm having a problem: It won't connect to my cable modem (via the WAN ethernet port), so I can't connect to the internet. [URL]
When I connect the router to my computer via ethernet cable, the light on the ethernet port of the router comes on (an orange LED light), but when I connect my cable modem (or computer) to the the router through the WAN ethernet port, the WAN port's LED does not come on at all and I keep getting an error message on my browser saying that I need to make sure the ethernet cable is connected.
I've tried three different ethernet cables, including the one that came with the router, with no luck (WAN LED lights never come on, so I assume that this means that there is no activity at all). I've also tried cloning the MAC address, restoring to factory default, updating the routers firmware, and holding the reset button on the modem for 15 seconds, among other things.
Also, something that might be worth noting: While one end is connected to my modem, if I plug the ethernet cord into one of the 4 ethernet ports on the router, the green LED instantly turns on but, as I said before, there's no activity when plugged into the WAN port. My modem is an Arris TM052G (DOCSIS 2.0) provided by my ISP, Time Warner Cable.
My New comcast cable modem will connect to the internet, as i am connected to it by ethernet right now, but my netgear router will not recognize it and get a link to the internet to get my existing LAN back up.

I had the scientific Atlanta model dpc2100r2 modem but Charter called and said that they have upgraded my speed for free from 18/2 to 30/4 and that I needed a new docsis 3.0 compatable modem in order to take full advantage of the speed upgrade. I received the modem and connected an activated it according to their instructions. The modem works fine when connected to the PC only but as soon as I connected to the dir 655 the link light went out on the modem and I lost my internet connection. The first step I took was to clone the mac address in Wan section of router. It still did not work. The next step was to turn the modem off, the router off and shutdown the PC. I waited until this morning to reconnect everything. I started the PC, then I started the modem and waited for it to stabilize and finally I restarted the router. I still had no connection. The status page of the router said that the cable was disconnected and that network was disconnected. There was no info to release so I clicked the renew button but nothing happened.

I am able to ping from pc to Router1. I am able to ping 4.2.2.2 and google from Router1 but unable to ping it from Router 2 and pc.

I have an Acer AM3100 desktop running Windows Vista. It is connected to a netgear wireless router via an ethernet cable. I also have two laptops connected to the same router. The laptops connect to the internet fine but the desktop doesn't. I connected to the internet fine (satellite) before I moved but won't connect now. Norton 360 can update automatically and Skype connects but I can't open web pages. I used the norton tool and uninstalled Norton 360 but it still won't connect. I wiped vista and installed windows Xp now my modem wont recognize and i dont have internet. i have tried burning the Drivers from Cisco onto another CD From another Machine but it says it needs internet connection to do so. i can't connect or anything i have a DPC2203 cable modem?

This connection is working fine.Recently I decided to add another Desktop wirelessly to share network, files and internet access. The second desktop is located in another room (approx. dist. is 30 Ft.)The second desktop detects the Modem but it fails to connect and it shows limited or no connectivity.
1. Allow Internet Access to both the desktops without loosing connectivity or without comporomising on speed.
2. Allow file/disk haring of desktop 2 with desktop 1.
I have a Home Virgin media cable connection at home. the only way to get this working with my Cisco gear is by putting the superhub on modem mode.On modem mode, it becomes just a dumb modem assigning and IP via DHCPI can get the switch to get an IP address from the modem with
no switchport
ip address dhcp
then I have created
0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 fa0/48
to route traffic to the port connected to the mode,The switch gets the assigned Ip address from the modem but it does not route internet traffic.
From the different vlans and subnets on the switch, I can ping the modem.
From the switch I can ping 8.8.8.8
From the machines, i cannot ping 8.8.8.8
On my machines, what should be the gateway? the vlan SVI, the modem's IP address, The fa0/48 ip address? I have tried them all with no success.
Upgraded my E3000 from 1.0.02 to 1.0.04 and now I cant get an ip from my arris modem. I did the 30/30/30 reset and everything but no luck. I've had to plug the modem directly into the computer for now. Where can I find the 1.0.02 download or how can I fix this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am with Virgin media and have a home lab (2611 routers, 3550 switches, 2950s etc) which i usually just use for testing things on and practicing.
Now I tried to connect it to the internet and got some weird things happening.
I got NAT and DHCP client all setup correctly on the router (or so I think!) along with DNS settings but I still can't get Internet access.
My network is all setup right so that through using OSPF the router is the gateway (0.0.0.0 route) for all devices. Doing a traceroute confirms this.
Yet I never get any further than the router? I see IP nat translations ticking up as I send more requests but never get a webpage or a reply from any of the machines in my network.
HOWEVER... The router itself does get some replies from Google.co.uk and bbc.co.uk but doesn't seem to want to give anything else on the "inside" a response?

I cannot connect my Dell Inspiron 1300 through the NetworkManager "wired" connection, when I try to go direct to the cable modem. It fails to connect. If I connect the cable modem to my (linksys WRT54GS) wireless router, and then connect my laptop to a wired port in the router, it connects in seconds, successfully, This has happened to me 2 other times, when I tried to connect my laptop to a client's cable modem, because my client did not have a wireless router available, in their home. My wireless works fine. This has me perplexed. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and NetworkManager Applet 0.8, I've tried some things to see what is going on, such as "ifconfig" "dhclient" as well as modifying the "Auto eth0" parameters and adding my laptop's MAC address, etc.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm looking at provisioning a Catalyst 4500 with a WS-X4712-SFP+E module to allow for future 10Gb connectivity via 10Gb SFP+ interfaces. These cards are backwards compatible with standard 1Gb SFP interfaces but I'm wondering about the other way around; ie. can you populate these blades with 10Gb SFP+ interfaces when they connect to Catalysts with only 1Gb SFP interfaces at the other end?
The data sheets don't really explain this. It seems pointless getting 10Gb SFP+ interfaces for the 4500 when it's only 1Gb at the access layer end, but these access switches will be replaced in the near future (~12 months) and if the 10Gb SFP+ interfaces support connections at 1Gb speeds upfront, it would mean I could retain these interfaces when the access switches upgrade to 10Gb connectivity capabilities down the track. Does the 10Gb SFP+ interfaces are compatible with 1Gb SFP's or only other 10Gb SFP+ interfaces?
I have a modem Scientific Atlanta 2100. I just installed windows 8 pro 64bit and when installing the driver to use the usb cable modem does not recognize it and simply not installed. I wonder if it is possible to use my usb cable modem or simply incompatible with my windows 8 64bit pro.
