Can Connect Wirelessly But Not Hardwired Through A Modem?
Apr 4, 2011
I have a friend whose Dell Latitude D800 and has been able to connect to the internet wirelessly using a Net Gear wireless adaptor.Comcast cable came several days ago to set them up to connect to the internet using their cable modem. The modem is working fine and packets are sent out but there is no internet connection and no packets received.
i really don't get it what caused this. There was a problem from the provider.. then this .. I resetted the router, could get to the Interface.. and now i can't And besides that, the internet connection get's picky to what lets work For example i could use gmail .. but not this page.. or instant messaging worked, but not browsing (and the speed was awful) at the moment the connection seems stable though (the changes from above were made)
This may seem blatantly obvious to some of you, but is it possible to connect a wireless router wirelessly to a wireless dsl modem. Due to geographic issues in the building, I would like to prevent running a cable from A to B if possible.
We have a HP Pavilion with Vista that we cannot get connected wirelessly to centurylink's pk5001z. It will connect to the internet if it is hooked up to the ethernet cable. We can take this laptop to McDonald's and use their wi-fi, or at my parents...or seemingly anywhere else. We have successfully connected 3 other laptops to the wireless signal thru the pk5001z. We had the geeksquad advise us several times...going as far as they accessed this laptop remotely...and still can't obtain a solution. Do we need a different modem? The laptop sees that there is a network available but won't allow access to it. (it shows the network name in () and indicates local connection only)
have a dell inspiron 1545 with windows vista. Sometimes at coffee shops I cannot connect to the internet. It says that I have local access only. This also has happened when I use my hardwire internet connection. Then at times it does work on the same network. It is not a network problem as I can connect with my iphone or other devices.
We run a Cisco WRT160N router. It works fine wireless. We are having issues connecting through our desktop which is hardwired. If i click ok about 3 or 4 times after it tells me it cannot find the site it works.
The Dell Laptop was working on wireless, now wont connect to internet, not even if hardwired to modem desktop, the wireless signal under laptop status reads 100%
My roommate has a HP pavilion that she has been trying to connect to our internet, and while it seems to be connecting to the network, it wont connect to the internet. Its running Vista, and I tried all the repairs that it prompted me to try, but could not resolve the issue.I know it isn't a internet problem, because the desktop is hardwired and we have two xbox's that connect wireless with no problems.Im not sure what info I should have included in this thread, but its my first post and wasn't sure what I needed to put.
In my main office, I have a cable modem which is connected to my main E4200 router. All of my equipment (except my Ooma) is served by the E4200. The E4200 broadcasts a wireless network. In my basement, I have a Wii / entertainment center. The E4200 signal from upstairs isn't strong enough to stream video.
I bought the WET610N and have successfully set it up to interact with the E4200 wirelss network. I can hardwire my laptop to the WET610N and verify the internet works greatHowever, the Wii must connect over wireless. I have other equipment in the basement which would benefit from an internet connection. So, I want to A) connect the ESXS88W 10/100 8-port workgroup switch I have to the WET610N *AND* also broadcast a wireless signal in my basement (assuming the wireless network I see in the basement is the same "old" one from upstairs which has not benefited from the WET610N).
How can I set up my WRT54G2 to broadcast a wireless signal in the basement so that it leverages the E4200 signal served by the WET610N, while also having the workgroup switch offer hardwired connections to my other equipment (like Dish Network receiver)? It doesn't seem to work by just plugging the WRT54G2 into the workgroup switch.
I'm connected to a wifi at home on my cellphone, says signal status is excellent, 54mbps, wpa psk security but I cannot connect to the network. My desktop pc is connected via ethernet and it is working. I tried connecting to a neighbor's wifi and it worked on the same cellphone. WLAN light is flashing, the rest are solid. I have a prolink adsl router.
i want to simply see my desktop on my tv without cables is this possible without using apple tv or push2tv or whatever else that is out there like that, i have a wireless router a laptop with wifi and a a tv which can connect to both wirelessly, i have no problem sharing files, vids photos etc but how can i browse net on laptop on couch but can see it through my tv.
It will work when I connect it using an ethernet cable but it won't connect to the wireless. When I run the network diagnostics, it says The wireless network key does not match or something like that
I want to create a home network between a desktop (W7 64 Ultimate) and a laptop (W7 64 Home Premium), wireless.Router is TP Link TL-WR941N, AP (for desktop) is TL-WA701N. From the laptop the network map shows all devices, but the desktop is not connected to the AP.
I am trying to setup a roku and the main router is about 30 ft away. I put in a repeater and it works for the laptop in the front room but not the roku. I was wondering if i could get a wireless adapter say the WET610N and configure it on the main computer then just plug it into the roku.
I came home last night and both my internet name and password were changed. I accessed the modem's website and changed both. I then hit connect to internet. My xbox worked, but none of my laptops. This morning I reset all the modem and the laptops. All of them connect but the internet is slow and fades in and out. My xbox tells my my NAT type is moderate. I go back on the modem's website and it says that none of my wireless devices can connect.
I have an HP dv8t and can't connect to the internet wirelessly. I run windows network diagnostics and result says Problem with wireless adapter or access point. Not fixed how can this be fixed?
I am about to buy the parts for my new gaming desktop, and I am looking into getting the right parts so it can connect to the internet wirelessly. In doing a bit of research, I have come across this card, and I am looking for opinions on the card/other viable options.

How to connect about 20 IP Cameras sccatered about 1km apart within a residential estate. I need to power the PoE switches at each camera location without cables and all cameras pictures/events must be monitored in a control room though a wireless network.
I am unable to connect to my network using my d-link wireless adapter. I am able to connect to my neighbor's network and other devices in my house can use my network with no problem. I am absolutely positive that I'm inputting the right password, but am unable to connect.
My hp pavilion g6 has always had the problem of not connecting to internet after i restart it. It shows excellent signal but cant connect to internet. This has been the case on two different routers/modems with two seperate service providers, however the problem gets fixed by turning off then back on the modem/router.
Now I decided to switch my desktop to hdmi after doing that the cord was affecting my wireless antenna so I took it out and put it in the other wireless antenna spot while it was on now everytime I try to connect it says the password is wrong or theres something wrong with the router everything else connects I have a dell inspiron 620 desktop and a Begin.91Bb modem/router
All of a sudden whenever I reboot my PC it can no longer see the router (ie it won't show up anything when I type in http://192.168.1.1) Usually I just mess about rebooting the router or reinitialising the network card (as instructed by the wizard!) eventually this works.... but not today...I can't connect - all the time the laptop connected wirelessly to the same router works fine. It's set up to obtain an automatic ip address whatever that means, could this be the problem ?? When I ping 192.168.1.1 (an instruction I found on another forum) it doesn't work..
I received a new hard drive along with recovery discs from dell yesterday. They told me the new drive would be blank and I would have to run the discs. Not a problem. Installed the OS along with the drivers that had check marks next to them.
Today I plug in my home internet and it won't work. Unplug it and turn the wireless back on and it gets online just fine.
I'm having trouble connecting to my Belkin router wirelessly (Wired works fine). I try to get to the IP address (192.168.0.2 and every other version of that) but it does not connect. On the router only Security, Wired, and Router are lit up; Wireless, Modem, and Internet are dark. I have reached the end of my limited computer capabilities trying to fix this problem myself.
Currently i have one main router in my house connected to the phone line. what i want to do is add another standalone router which will wireless connect to my main one.i want to connect my computer to the router wired then that router connects to the main router wirelessly.what is this method called ive seen things like wireless repeaters and wireless bridge.
I'm having a big problem with my connectivity. I can connect to the internet (a BT Home Hub router) using my ethernet cable but not using wireless. My computer is searching and finding wireless networks, but when I try to connect to my router, it says limited access/connectivity.
I haven't used my computer in quite a long time (7 months) as it stopped working and is miraculously working again now (huzzah!) but the wireless does not, when it was perfect previously.
I have run IPCONFIG/ALL and the details are below. This is done with the ethernet cable attached.

Yesterday everything was working fine, but when I got home today I couldn't connect to my router. I tried connecting on my computer, my mac, and my netbook ALL couldn't even find the SSID. I directly connected my mac and netbook to my modem and was able to connect to the internet, so I know it's not an ISP problem. I then re-connected the WAN cord from my modem to the back of my Netgear Wireless-G Router WGR614V10. All the lights come on but I still can't find the router when I tried connecting wirelessly. When I connect an Ethernet cord to a LAN port on the router, I can get connection.
