View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got a new 2011 Toshiba Satellite L755 laptop with Windows 7, I also have a 2006 Compaq Presario with the original Windows Vista. We use a DIR-615 router for WIFI connection on both. The old Compaq will keep a connection with no problem and never looses a connection. The new Toshiba will keep 3 bars of signal but will not keep a constant connection to the internet. Do I need to upgrade my router, which I bought the one I have about 3-4 years ago, or could it possibly be a problem with my new computer?

View 1 Replies View Related I am able to connect to the internet wireless. The wireless icon does not change. The blue dot rotates and moves about but instead of showing a connection, just the signal bars showing, it shows a land line connection with a red X over it. This happened after one of those many Windows updates.
I know I could try a reset to an earlier boot however, I made too many changes, installs and such that I don't want to loose any of it. There has to be a workaround for this lousy problem. I though of perhaps deleting my wireless connection and reinstalling it from the modem on up to the router. I just don't want to keep digging a hole! Ya know what, I really miss my apple computer which I finally gave up on because the price was overwhelming.
My roommate has made himself network administrator of our home network and is using it to leverage favors out of me. He has some how band my computer from the network so that even though I know the password I still can't connect. I need a way to change how the network identifies my computer so that I can get back in to the network. I have already changed my computer's Name and description and that didn't work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI own a Dell Latitude D600 that I purchased off of Ebay a few months ago. For the past month I have been having an issue with my wireless card. My problem started when I turned on my computer and booted up and when my desktop loaded, no wireless icon or signal strength showed on the bottom right hand corner where are the other icons are. I went to Device Manager and in the Network adapter section was an exclamation point next to the Dell Wireless 1450 Dual Band WLan mini pci card which showed that there is a code 10 error. I have tried uninstalling it but then I would always get the BSOD with the BCMWL5.sys error. I have tried updating the driver as well but it would tell me that it already is up to date. I have also tried reinstalling my OS but my code 10 error always returns. When I opened up my laptop to see if the card is the cables are loose (which they weren't), I noticed that my wireless card is the Broadcom 4309.
I would also like to ask exactly what order am I suppose to have all of my drivers installed? I am almost positive that I am not installing them correctly. I have seen websites that say to install the Intel Chipset and O2 Smart Card first and then the NSS and so on.

I tried re-flashing the firmware, but that didn't work. I get the same problems when I try using the Smart Wifi app. There are also times when I can not access the router using Smart Wifi unless I reboot the router when I get home.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just acquired a used E2100 from an auction, when I plug it in I see an "Unnamed Network" with full bars in wireless, but can't connect since I don't know the ssid/password.When connecting with cable, with ipconfig I get a 10.10.10.108 ip, the gateway is at 10.10.10.99. Yet I also cannot access it.I have tried the reset button at the bottom, holding it for over a minute, pressing it quickly, holding it for 30 seconds, holding it and unplugging + replugging the router, but nothing is working.I have also tried the CD that comes with it with cable and with wifi only, but it does not find the router. I have deleted my default wireless network settings, had my wifi on, was not connected to any networks, yet the CD could not find the router. When router is on, the WIFI led blinks around once a second, while the LAN led blinks randomly like it should.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just installed a Bluetooth module (P/N UG748, Rev A01) in my XPS M1730 ... Windows 7 detects and installs the drivers just fine. After that, the Bluetooth LED starts to flash, so I assume Windows knows what the device is.What I notice is... No Bluetooth icon appears in My Computer, no Bluetooth device shows up in Device Manager,my laptop slows down quite a lot and the worst problem of all is.. the module STOPS my laptop from connecting to my router. It just completely blocks access to my router via wireless. The laptop can still SEE the router, but as soon as it tries to connect, if fails. why doesn't the Bluetooth adapter work in the laptop? Why won't Windows pick it up and display the relevant info in Device Manager?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been using a laptop to stream videos through my xbox for over 2years until recently. I setup a wireless network in the house to do this. All was fine until 3 days ago.I use a Dell Inspiron 1545 with Windows 7. I have a Dell Wireless 1397 Minicard, a cisco router (model #2425). Since my laptop was infected by Malware, my network has not worked since. I downloaded Malwarebytes Anti Malware to get rid of it and it appeared to work. I got internet access back. However, I still cannot connect to my network (visible in the Available Network list as normal) or stream any media.Windows Media Centre also has stopped opening and gives me the small box saying 'windows is checking for a solution', then closes with nothing. I can however open WMC if I right click and 'run as administrator'?! I have disabled all other network adaptors, only the Dell minicad is enabled and also tried disabling and enabling this main one with no effect. All problems point to the fact that my laptop can no longer connect to the home network but I cant figure out why?!Another (possibly unrelated) problem is occuring at boot up where I get an error message saying 'Bluetooth Software License not found. [2]' - Again this never happened before the Malware infection.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi purchased vaio with win8. Under network icon, I can not see any other computers in the local network therefore not able to access shares unless i explicitly map the shares which is tedious.
On other computers running win7 and xp, each of them can see each other under network icon. However that is not the case with my laptop running 8. Actually i have seen once or twice all pc-s show up but most of the time, they dont appear.
I read somewhere that following service need to be checked to make sure they are running: upnp, ssdp in services. I checked those and they are all running.
I also enabled "turn on network discovery" under network and sharing->advanced sharing. setting. To make it more complicated there are private and public and all network setting. I enabled all items as follows:
1. Private Turn on network discovery is checked along with Turn on automatic setup of network connected devices Turn on file and printer sharing is selected Allow Windows to manage homegroup connections is selected.
2. Guest or public Turn on network discovery is selected Turn on file and printer sharing is selected.
With these settings I still dont see the local computers and their shares. Do I need to check anything else?
Yesterday my computer acted like it froze up. After a few minutes it seemed to be OK but now I notice a red X in the lower right hand corner next to the speaker iconThe only time I have noticed this "X" before is when the internet service is down.My internet service is fine.

Initially there was a yellow mark over network icon but it allowed me to access Internet. I was not bothered then..Offlate this has turned ugly. The yellow icon would not allow me to connect to internet through wifi or LAN
Sometimes LAN would connect but now a days connecting to wifi has become a real task with most of the time having to trouble shoot the connection.
Troubleshooting gives me different suggestions which are as follows
a) DHCP not enabled over wireless networks....Trying to repair the same does not work
b) Your computer seems to have been configured properly.
c) Troubleshooting cannot solve the problem

I have previously connected to that same desktop and network using my laptop, but my desktop will not connect to it. I am able to ping websites (google) and my gateway (192.168.2.1) from this computer but unable to ping myself (127.0.1). The fullsystem scans I run on Norton Internet Security 2011 all come back clean.

how to re-connect my home wireless signal to my computer. The wireless signal is strong and the other computers in my house will connect with no issues. My computer connected with no problems to my wireless signal at work. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium on a Lenovo Idea Pad Win7 PC. The computer was connecting yesterday and then was shut down. The next time I got on, ,it wouldn't connect. I've tried re-establishing the network as a new network, but it says the network already exists. The profile is the same as our other computers and nothing has been changed there. When I disconnect from the wireless signal and ask to re-connect it says that the it is trying to connect, but can't make the connection. I'm looking for any way to re-build the profile so it will connect and work again.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAbout a week ago my laptop started acting strange. I noticed when I brought my computer to my room (which is where i usually use my computer) it said that there were connections available where the signal bar is. Which is odd because it usually just auto connects. So i clicked on the signal bar and connected to my internet, but it lost the connection shortly after so I clicked connect again and it said windows was unable to connect to the router. Then shortly after that it said no connections were available. So i brought the computer to the computer to the family room ,where the router is, to check the router. It was nothing wrong with the router so I looked back at the computer and it was automatically connected to the internet with a five bar connection, but when i left the family room with the computer it immediately lost the signal. So i decided i should just stay in the family room. The next day the same problem occured and i went back to the family room to use the computer but i noticed the connection wasnt usually at five bars like it usually is wen im that close to the router but it was 4 bars or 3.
The next day i went over my fathers house for the weekend, and when im over there i pretty much always have a five bar connection even though im not in the same room as the router because im 1 floor directly above the router. Now when i used the computer over my dads house it had a 3 bar connection, disconnected from the internet at times, and when i try to connect bak it said that windows could not connect to router like it had said in my room bak at my own house, even though it always used to have a very high connection before this problem happened. So wen i got bak to my house i went to the family room to connect to the internet and now im having the same problems i had over my dads house. Now i try deleting some programs to see if they affected the internet and have even turned off some start off services on using mpconfig but that didnt work either
My desktop computer doesn't have a wireless card in it. i also have a laptop which does have a wireless card. I was wondering if there is a way i can take the wireless connection and re-transmit it to the desktop through ethernet. I have a 5-port switch. I don't really know much about networking. but i am knowledgeable in computers. laptop has windows 7 on it. i really would prefer to not buy a wireless card for the desktop.
