My roommate has made himself network administrator of our home network and is using it to leverage favors out of me. He has some how band my computer from the network so that even though I know the password I still can't connect. I need a way to change how the network identifies my computer so that I can get back in to the network. I have already changed my computer's Name and description and that didn't work.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI use my desktop for streaming media throughout the house. I found it was causing lag for gaming most likely because it was taking up all the bandwidth for the router. We had a 2nd router laying around as well as a 2nd wireless adapter so we set up a 2nd network that was not connected to the internet for strictly media streaming.I attempted to change the network settings so the internet connection appeared as a public network so that streaming of media was hopefully diverted to the non internet wireless adapter.I want a faster way of transferring large video files from my laptop to my desktop. I recently bought a crossover cable to do this through direct connection.Both use the same user name and password as well as run the same win 7 pro however the desktop is the 64 bit version. I set up both ipv4 with the same addresses.When it has worked I am only getting a connection speed of just over 10mb and once I connect the crossover cable between the computers it knocks out my internet connection on the wireless card.

The wireless router and cable modem are in one room, but the printers are in another. I'd like to find the most practical way to add the printers to the local wireless network without sharing them from a computer. I've tried that for a while, but don't want to leave a laptop connected 24/7 just to enable wireless printing (rather defeats the purpose of a portable computer). And then i mapped a network drive to use those folders.But every time i restart my computer i get the message "cannot reconncet all network drives"I have to put in my username and password everytime. My iSCSI drives connect just fine on restart. Just not my mapped network folders.
My computer is a 32 bit, Win7 SP1 with Pentium Dual Core 2.6 Ghz and 2Gb of Ram on a wired network. My wife has a similar system using a wireless network. She can ping my IP Address, but I cannot ping hers. We both have full access to the Internet. We are using the same workgroup, and both computers have file and printer sharing enabled and IPv6 addresses and DNS server addresses selected automatically.The problem appears to be with my computer?

I have 2 computers running Windows 7. Recently I changed from a Motorola 3347 modem to a Actiontec Q1000 modem. After changing modems I am unable to network the computers, I get error "0x800070035 The Network path was not found".I can plug the old modem in and the networking will work.I have tried to duplicate all of the settings on the Q1000 modem from the Motorola, however there are some different options/settings that do not overlap.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIn my restaurant, we currently have a password protected wifi network for customers and staff. The load is typically light, so it's worked fine. Now, we're putting in a new cloud-based point of sales system, which effectively means that I need a totally uninterrupted, high quality wireless signal running to the POS terminal (in this case, an iPad). If the terminal is sharing that connection with 15 customers Facebooking on their iPhones, I imagine we'll have some signal issues. I'd rather not install a second network dedicated to the POS terminal. Are there any other possible solutions, i.e. a way to give priority to the terminal over other connections? A way to "split" the existing network so only a portion of it is available to customers?
FYI, current network speed is 20/mbs 2/mbs, and the POS terminal requires a minimum of 7/2 mbs.
