Cisco :: 5508 / 3750 - Connection Between Switches Using SFP Cable

Nov 14, 2011

I have to realize a connection between  an 5508 WLC and 3750 switch using one SFP cable. I found on Cisco documentation some reference about two different SFP cables. The first one is CAB-SFP-50CM, but this is used to interconnect two 3560 switches. The second is SFP-H10GB-CU1M. This one has SFP+ transceivers on both ends which I don’t know if are compatible with the standard SFP ports that can be found both on WLC and switch.

My question is if I can use one of these cables in order to connect my devices, or if you know other one piece SFP cables.

Because I am using hsrp and also we are not using vss then one uplink to the core is not in used only ones is so then how does creating an etherchannel between does two uplinks to both core switches benefit me in anyway such as more bandwith and using both uplinks at the same time or I'm I wrong?

Cisco :: QOS Configuration On 3750 L3 Switches?

May 28, 2012

We have PC's that connect through the Siemens IP phones and back to the cisco 3750 which is connected to our core 6500 via L3. The phones use a voice VLAN and the PC's use another VLAN. The whole setup seems to work ok but I was just wondering if the QOS was configured correctly. Our current config on our 3750 switches are mls qos trust dscp on the port that connects to the phone and PC and mls qos trust dscp on the L3 links. The phones are configured for "QOS L2/L3"From the reading I've done so far it seems that any ports connected to a L2 device should be set to cos and not dscp?

How to make the ssh connection between ciscoworks and the edge device?As I said I can ssh from my desktop and manage the box that way but ciscoworks simply won't allow it.

Cisco WAN :: Route-Maps On L3 3750 Switches?

Dec 6, 2012

I have the following set up, at one of our sites:What I would like to do is take non 10.x.x.x web traffic, and pipe it through the ISP2 link, and keep all other 10.x.x.x traffic over the main ISP1 link.  I would like to set this up on the L3 3750's that we have.  Here is my configuration for the 3750's (IP's have been changed for security):

track 222 ip sla 222 reachability
track 223 ip sla 223 reachability
ip access-list extended INTERNETTRAFFIC
permit tcp 10.1.1.0 0.0.1.255 any eq www       - Internet LAN subnet
permit tcp any 10.1.1.0 0.0.1.255 eq www
permit tcp any eq www 10.1.1.0 0.0.1.255

[code]....

I'm applying the policy route-map to the VLAN interface, but do not see any traffic, once I apply the interface.  I'm not that experienced, with route-maps?

Cisco WAN :: 2 X 3750 Configure Spanning Tree On All Switches

I have a question in regards to configuration I'm planning to implement. I currently have 2 x 3750 running in a stack. I would like to add 1 x 870 router connected to both switches.It's important for me that 870 is always available (it will only be used as a backdoor for our management network through WAN) but I don't want it to participate in any switching (including switching for management network unless it's going through this backdoor WAN). Do I need to configure spanning tree on all switches or stack is automaticly working as a 1 logical unit?As router is only using 100MB/s connection, how I can prevent this router from switching packets with other switches?

Cisco Switches :: 3750 / SMB Switch Integrations With Non-SMB Infrastructure?

Jul 27, 2011

A customer is expanding their network into another wing, and they have a good number of existing Small Business switches (specifically the SGE-2010P - [URL] that they're interested in possibly deploying.  They have a full-blown Cisco infrastructure and voice deployment (Cat 6500 core switches, 3750 switch stacks, Communications Manager w/ over 1,000 phones, etc.).

The general concern is whether there is ANY known issues or concerns with trying to mix/integrate the Small Business equipment with non-SMB infrastructure. Looking at the datasheet for this switch, it's clearly PoE, supports QoS, although it doesn't specifically indicate it can provide a voice/auxiliary VLAN for a phone detected by CDP - that would be a big deal.  So basically, "a switch is a switch", and I'm just posing this question to make sure there's no reason (technically or from a support standpoint) that we would not recommend integrating these.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3750 Stack-wise Cable Long Enough To Connect Two Racks

We have two dedicated racks for our DMZ. We need to connect them to a firewall. We do all the cabling inside the rack, so each of them must have a top of rack.Problem is, switch in rack 2 will be connected to rack 1 and then to firewall, so if switch 1 fail, we lose both of them.

I would love to stack them like 3750 but I don't think there is stack-wise cable long enough to connect two racks (and I suppose this length isn't supported by technology).We have only one port left in the FW.

Cisco Switches :: SGE2010 Clients Need To Route Through ASA 5505 And 3750

May 17, 2011

I need to move the client machines off of the 3750 (and their DHCP dependency on it) to the SGE2010 and absolutely route their internet traffic out through the outside interface on the 5505. They must also be able to communicate back into the internal environment in order to communicate with the production servers.

The clients currently use .254 addressing through a dumb dell switch to the 3750 but I am trying to migrate them over slowly to the .253. I know that the 2010 will not do DHCP, so I am putting a DHCP server on that switch right now. The 5505 won't let me add an additional nameif statement onto one of the other eth0/x interfaces and I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it's capabilities to act as a DHCP server (it's not an option in the ASDM) or it's ability to serve as the internet gateway for the 2010 clients. (Side notes: The 5505 has a base license and is currently also connecting 1 site to site VPN. As is the 5520, so all of it's interfaces are used as well).

I statically assigned a moved client with a .253 address and plugged it into the 2010. I have tried giving the 2010 both a .4 address and a .253 address but neither will allow me to ping any of the addresses on the 5505. The 2010 shows automatic routes to the two subnets and I set it's default route to 253.1. The link between the 2010 and the 3750 works - clients receive a .254 address from the 3750 and can get out to the internet via the 5505 and reach the production servers as well.

Why won't the 2010 see the 5505 as a gateway and allow clients to get to the internet and also traverse the 3750 when they need access to the production network?

The reason why I dont' just connect the two swtiches and call it a day is because I also need the production servers to ALWAYS go out/receive web requests via  the 5520 outbound/outside interface. I'm having such a hard time wrapping my head around why i can't get my clients moved over to the new switch, I haven't even grasped how I'm going to do that yet.
