Cisco :: 5510 - VPN Users Needs Access To All L2L Segments

May 17, 2013

Client has a Cisco ASA 5510 with 4 L2L VPN's all using 5505's

The L2L connect to the "outside" interface as do the VPN Users (I'm leary of this

The VPN Users need access to the "inside" networks and all L2L subnets.

The VPN User has its own subnet (192.168.168.0/24( seperate from the Local LANs (172.16.0.0/16)

When the Users VPN in they can get to all the subnets connected to the inside interface but none of the L2L subnets

I have verified that the UserVPN Subnet is in the crypto acls and in the route statements of all L2L 5505s

Cisco VPN :: ASA5510 Unable To Access Some Segments From Remote Access VPN

May 17, 2011

We have an ASA5510 and a few days ago we were unable to access some segments from remote access VPN, the problem was not the config.  A few hours later the problem was resolved on its own and I suspect we have an IOS bug.  This has happened a few times in the past and its becoming an issue. How can this be confirmed and which IOS should we upgrade to?  Prefer not 8.3 given the syntax difference

Cisco VPN :: ASA 5510 - AnyConnect Users Unable To Access Remote Subnet

Jun 9, 2013

I have a weird problem which I have already submitted a TAC ticket about. When users authenticate through AnyConnect into our HQ ASA 5510 they grab an address from 172.16.254.x. What we have been noticing intermittently is that when logged into our network through the client they are unable to access their resources at one of our remote offices which is connected over l2l to the HQ ASA. This problem just started randomly a week ago and we have been working with Cisco trying to create a solution.

My quick fix is logging into a device at the remote office which is trying to be accessed and pinging the gateway of the virtual subnet for AnyConnect users. When I ping 172.16.254.1 it goes through after a few dropped icmp packets and then the issue is resolved for about 8 hours or so.

Cisco VPN :: ASA 5510 - AnyConnect Users Cannot Access Remote Office Over Site-to-site

Jul 15, 2012

we have two ASA 5510s one in 8.4(4) and one in 8.2(5) in a site-to-site VPN setup. All internal traffic is working smoothly.Site/Subnet A: 192.160.0.0 - local (8.4(4)) Site/Subnet B: 192.260.0.0 - remote (8.2(5)) VPN Users: 192.160.40.0 - assigned by ASA When you VPN into the network, all traffic hits Site A, and everything on subnet A is accessible.

Site B however, is completely inaccessible for VPN users. All machines on subnet B, the firewall itself, etc... is not reachable by ping or otherwise. There are also some weird NAT rules that I am not happy with that were created after I upgraded Site A ASA to 8.4

Site A internal: 192.160.x.x     External: 55.55.555.201(main)/202(mail)
Site B (over site-to-site) is 192.260.x.x     External: 66.66.666.54(all)

I pretty much just have the basic NAT rules for VPN, Email, Internet and the site-to-site.What do I need to add for the VPN to be able to access the site-to-site network?

Here is my NAT config:

nat (inside,Outside) source static DOMAIN_LOCAL DOMAIN_LOCAL destination static VPN_Network VPN_Network no-proxy-arp route-lookup
nat (inside,Outside) source static DOMAIN_LOCAL DOMAIN_LOCAL destination static DOMAIN_REMOTE DOMAIN_REMOTE no-proxy-arp route-lookup
!
object network DMZ_Network
nat (DMZ,Outside) dynamic interface
object network DOMAIN_LOCAL

When I setup a workstation on the 10.0.2.X segment at 10.0.2.100 wirh a gateway of 10.0.2.1,  I can ping 10.0.2.1 and 10.0.1.1 but can not ping anything else on the 10.0.1.X network or on the internet.  When I am connected to the console port on the router I can ping 10.0.1.1 and 10.0.2.1 and 10.0.1.21 and any address in the internet but I can not ping 10.0.2.100.

Cisco AAA/Identity/Nac :: Using Active Directory Users To Manage ASA 5510?

Dec 28, 2012

I know that our VPN users currently use Active Directory to authenticate their VPN sessions, so now I'm wondering if there is an easy way to configure my company's Cisco ASA 5510 to use either a Windows Server 2008 R2 Active Directory group (preferred method) or specific Active Directory users (less preferred) and authenticate them for management access (privilege level 15) using their Active Directory credentials. I do not want this to change the IP range used for ASDM/HTTPS/Telnet/SSH access (currently all local networks, no VPN), as those are settings that my company does not want changed.

Cisco :: Users From Remote Access VPN Can't Access Other Subnet

Nov 1, 2011

Based on my diagram, my computer A (192.168.100.11) can ping and access my computer B (192.168.10.14). But, when i'm home and i use remote access vpn (192.168.200.x) in cisco asa 5520 to connect to my computer A is okay. But, when i try to ping my computer B is not okay. I already do the exemption for 192.168.100.x and 192.168.10.x in nat rules for inside interface (192.168.100.2) ...

Should i put routing from outside 1.1.1.2 to 192.168.10.x by using 192.168.100.1 as a gateway?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Use 861 Ethernet Router To Link LANs Data And Voice Segments Together?

Feb 5, 2013

We want to use a Cisco 861 Ethernet router to link our LAN's data and voice segments together (each on separate switches). Our switches are not Layer3 so routing over them is not an option. We only use the default VLAN1 on both switches. There is a data segment 192.168.1.0/24 and a voice segment 192.168.150.0/24, each with it's own internet/WAN access (internet for the data lan and SIP provider for the voice lan).

Diagram:

internet-~--router_192.168.1.1------192.168.1.0/24_data_lan--------192.168.1.254_cisco861_192.168.150.254-----192.168.150.0/24_voice------192.168.150.1_router--~-sip_provider

This is want i want to achieve:

- Link the data and voice switches using the  861

- I want to make the Cisco 861 the default gw on both segments, but they should only route traffic destined for the other segment to each other and route all other traffic to their segment's designated internet connection. I don't want the Cisco to do any NATting and there's no need for firewalling either.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: ASA 5510 / Routing Mobile Users Via VPN To Different Gateways

Oct 6, 2012

I have mobile users using air cards that connect to the network with a VPN product called Net Motion. Our  firewall is a ASA 5510. Once connected to the Net Motion VPN server the user will get a DHCP address from our network. In the past we could not get the VPN tunnel to complete since our layer 3 switch (3750G IP services) has 3 egress points and the egress point that we needed the VPN traffic to go out of is not the default gateway. To solve this we had the air card carrier set switch our air cards to static IP addresses and using route statements for the public IP addresses and access lists we got it to work.

The problem with this is that every new air card we provision needs a static IP address. My question is would policy based routing work in this scenario? The problem has been that the VPN tunnel was not able to complete the negotitaion phase as the traffic came into the switch and was trying to go out the default gateway. The VPN client wont get an internal IP address until the VPN tunnel is created.

I would like to get away from using static IP addresses.

Cisco Firewall :: SSM-4GE Firewall Has 5 DMZ Segments And Specific Segment For Internet Traffic

May 23, 2013

I was asked to enable netflow in an ASA Firewall for Orion/Solarwinds server monitoration. Firewall is a 5550, with 4G RAM, and no extra modules but SSM-4GE. This firewall has 5 DMZ segments and ans specific segment for internet traffic. There are segments as unique subinterfaces in physical interfaces. Other segments as individual subinterfaces in the same physical interface (but individual VLANs)Usually firewall CPU flows between 30% to 40%. Rarely to 50%.

1 - How dangerous or risky could be implement netflow in this firewall?...This firewall is very critical for the customer. My concern is regrading CPU, traffic generated, memory, etc

2 - In a month, firewall will be migrated from 8.2 software version to 8.4 software version. Is there any incompatibility in some commands?...Would be recommended to perform netflow configuration after software upgrade?

3 - How could it be implemented for Orion monitoring, regarding each individual sub-interface (and so, each VLAN assigned)?I there any recommendation regarding configuration, best practices?

Cisco :: Way To Grant SSL VPN Users Different Levels Of Access?

Mar 18, 2011

I have a customer with an ASA5510. We have an SSL VPN (tunnel-based, or "SVC") that we use for remote access. That works great. They want to be able to use this same functionality, but add users who will not have the full access that the current SSL VPN users have. So in other words we currently have a small group of users who get full access to the LAN. Then they want to have a second group of users who will only have access to certain nodes.I'm wondering if there's some way to do this using LDAP between the firewall and the Radius server? The user gets put in a different tunnel group depending on what the FW learns from the server? We only have the Anyconnect Essentials license, so unfortunately we can't do a clientless SSL VPN, which otherwise might work well here.
