Cisco :: 8510 SFP Support

Jun 3, 2013

I found following spec in 8510 controller data sheet

Interfaces and Indicators
#• 2 x 10 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces
#• Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) options (only Cisco SFPs supported): SFP-10G-SR
#• LED indicators: Network Link, Diagnostics
#• 1x Service Port: 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet (RJ-45)

However, I need Long Range SFP, i.e SFP-10G-LR

Cisco WAN :: 8510 Transitioning Away From ATM

Mar 7, 2012

We have 3 or 4 older sites that connect back to our central site using ATM over 2 T1s. This connection is for both voice and data. Equipment is a 3640 router and 8510 switch. These are our last sites on ATM, and we'd like to move them away from ATM as soon as we can.

Looking at the Cisco documentation, it looks like we could use 3925s at the central site and at each of the remote locations, with VWIC3 cards (we're using VWIC first generation cards now in the 3640s), and use the drop and insert capability to handle voice and data. I had done some setups like this at a previous job... it's been a couple of years, but hopefully I still got the concept. If I've got this correct, what do we need for the connection to the phone system?

Cisco WAN :: 8510 - BVI On Catalyst 3600 Can't Communicate With It

Jul 27, 2011

Have been struggling with a connectivity issue following a recent power surge from a storm. A BVI from Cisco Catalyst 3600 cannot communicate with our local network.

We have several satellite connections which connect to us via ADSL. From these satellite offices I can talk to the Cisco 3600 we have here at our central office (BVI 10.60.112.1). There is a connection from the ATM port on the Cisco 3600 which goes to an ATM port on a Cisco Catalyst 8510 and there is an Ethernet connection from that 8510 to the core switch on our local network (Catalyst 6509).

Since I can talk to the 3600 without issue, I believe that the issue is the 8510 config.

There are only two ports in use on the 8510.The ATM port on the 3600 is connected to the 8510's ATM0/0/1.The 8510's ATM1/0/0 (622MM) is connected to our local network's core.There is activity on both ports of the 8510, but from the local network I cannot see 10.60.112.1 and from the 3600 I cannot see the core.

The 8510 config looks pretty default, like some things were "lost" during the surge (we had backups of the 3600 and not the 8510). The config goes as follows for the 8500:

[code]....

Cisco Switching/Routing :: ATM 8510 Back To Back With 7206vxr 155Meg Only Get 44Meg?

Nov 25, 2012

I have a Cisco 8510msr that is connected back to back with a 7206vxr across a 155Meg connection.I receive lots of Output drops on the 7206vxr interface facing the atm switch. When I do the following command:-

kwdair9#sh atm int atm 1/0Interface ATM1/0:AAL enabled:  AAL5 , Maximum VCs: 4096, Current VCCs: 27 Maximum Transmit Channels: 0Max. I only have 44megConfig. is ACTIVEkwdair9# I only get 44Meg of the available 155Meg.There is no QOS on the router and the only commands I can find that vaguely see that refer to QOS are on the ATM switch:-

atm address 47.0091.8100.0000.0007.0d87.b201.0007.0d87.b201.00atm router pnnino aesa embedded-number left-justifiednode 1 level 56 lowest  redistribute atm-static?why this is acting like a DS3 link and not a 155Meg link?
