I am upgrading from 7.0.116.0 to 7.2.110.0 to support the 3602 APs. Is it a different license to upgrade to 7.2.110.0 or can I directly upgrade to 7.2.110.0 without a new license?We currently have a 5508 base license.
View 1 RepliesI have been asked to upgrade the IOS images on three 4506 switches with a single Supervisor IV engine in each to allow for SSH2 access.The current image is cat4000-i5s-mz.122-25.EWA.bin..I have uploaded cat4000-i5k91s-mz.122-25.EWA14.bin to bootflash on each Supervisor engine.The ROM on each SUP IV is 12.1(20r). I don't want to have to upgrade the ROM version.Will the cat4000-i5k91s-mz.122-25.EWA14.bin image retain all the current features of the current image and provide SSH2 support, without requiring a ROM upgrade?Each switch has 512 Mb of RAM.If this image will accomplish what I want, what are the commands used to select the new image from bootflash. I'm familiar with image updates on fixed chassis switches using the boot system flash command.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI manage Wi-Fi on a college campus, and we have implemented 802.1x with RADIUS authentication running on a Windows server, and that works well. The issue is that the college is looking at removing wired connections in the dorms in favor of just deploying wireless, and the gaming consoles (Xbox, PS3, etc. ) cannot support 802.1x. We use Cisco 5508 Wireless LAN controllers with 1142 and 3602 APs.
I would like to enable MAC address authentication for these gaming consoles, wherein we (IT) would enter the MAC address of the console for a single connection and allow that console to connect to Wi-Fi, but I do not want to use WEP or any other TKIP passwords, because once the students would know the password they would use WEP/WPA instead of authenticating through RADIUS for their PC/tablet connections. .
Can the Cisco 3602 APs be configured by a Cisco 5508 WLAN controller to provide client isolation?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a case that to minimize wireless signal into one room.Room has dimenitons 3 x 6 meters.But the signal should pass to other room.I have tried many scenarios but couldnt reach the result that i expect.First i have used a 3502 with external antenna ports , but no antenna attached to it.I have set up the maximum power level from TPC menu from controller , but it was more limited than i thought.I can only connect whenever i put Ap next to myself.Then i have used a 3602 with internal antennas.The reason i have picked 3602 is , it has the lowest gain 2.4GHz antenna attached to it.I reset TPC to minimum power level (5) , but as expected signal can be heard from two rooms from the AP is located.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is a new setup and has not worked yet. I have multiple 3602 APs and one 2504 Controller. I thought initially I could plug-in an AP into one of two POE Ports on the 2504. During debug mode I see that it has low power, was suprised that the 2504 switch can't fully power the AP? Is this correct?Anyways I have another POE switch that I am using with ample power. The configuration for my wireless is that it will be completely segmented off of my internal network as this is for guest access. So DNS servers are external so I cannot create host entries for the AP to discover the controller. With that being said I believe that is just one way for the discovery process to happen. I have my controller management interface and DHCP scope on the controller on the same subnet plugged into the same POE switch. The AP does seem to get a DHCP address and I can ping the controller from the AP. I cannot get any further then that. I will not join the controller and the radios get disabled. I get messages such as "discovery response from MWAR is rejected. I will post a debug log of the AP and its bootup process. This is new equipment so I would assume the firmware is somewhat up-to-date and the 3602 AP is somewhat the latest model.

The last shipment of 3602 APs for a customer came with 7.3 software. Controllers are running 7.2.110.0 so APs had to be downgraded. After APs finished downgrading they were still up. When we moved the APs to another controller running 7.2.110.0 they would not come back up. Power was denied at the switch.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe are in the process of evaluating Cisco wireless controllers and AP. We have 3602 APs and 2504 controllers right now. We have multiple branch offices connected to the main office through layer 3 and they all have different vtp domains and vlans. I am trying to deploy APs at the branch offices and connect them back to the controller and the central site. I created a sub interface and ssid with one of the vlans at the branch office on the controller and was able to get the AP to join the controller through DNS. However, a client at the branch office connected to the AP was unable to ping anything at the branch and central sites. Any documentations on how to deploy such a setup where the controller is at the central site and AP at the branch office going through multiple routers in between?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am busy setting up a wireless backhaul.. I have the bridge setup using 2 x 3602's ( Root / mesh) configuration. The bridge is self is up. The main idea is to get older autonomous access point (1231) connected to the ethernet and pull that back in to a temporary building. I have groupped the bridge to only have one SSID on it.
The switch port on the pwr inj4 is currently connected to a laptop - Ethernet Bridging is enabled on the mesh port. Now the laptop does get an ip form the dhcp server. This is where my issue comes in. I can ping the mesh ap's IP address, but not past it.

Am I safe to delete the 6.0.132 directory/files and trying again?
I need to upgrade our Wireless Lan Controller to support new APs. I was able to get the new code due to a security advisory on the code we are running now. I am upgrading from 6.0.196.0 to 7.0.220.0 (MD). I have read in some of the technical docs that the WCS has to match the WLC. I cannot find any documentation as to what this entails on the WCS.
WCS version is 6.0.132.0 running on Windows.
What are the prerequisites before doing this? I have to upgrade a router this week if there is an opportunity to move it to a code that is more current that the one the client is currently running which is 12.2(33)SRD4. I see on the Cisco Support site that after this code, everything moves to 15.

I would like to upgrade the controllers to 4.2.209 as our 1020 APs will not be supported by any later version, I think. And, I would like to upgrade our WCS to 6.0.181.0 so it's ready for when we upgrade our controllers to 6.x.x.x after we get some APs that can support it. Is the 6.0.181.0 on the WCS going to give me any problems monitoring or administering the controlllers if they are only 4.2.209?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am in the process of upgrading my 4402 to version 7.0.230.0 and am confused on the premise of the firmware and the bootloader. From what I currently understand, I can upgrade directly to the 7.0.230.0 firmware from my current 4.2.176.0, then I should upgrade to the latest bootloader image. But I have also seen posts where I should update the bootloader software to the latest version, then put on the latest firmware.
I have seen conflicting reports where I must step through each bootloader version, 4.x to 5.x to 6.x to 7.x to make sure I have all the fixes, but I have also seen instructions, where you can jump to the very latest and the fixes are cumulative.
I am currently running NCS 1.1.1.24 and trying to upgrade to prime 1.3, but running into some issues, i applied the patch ncs_patch-1.1.1.24-upgrade-12.tar.gz, but when i try to acutally upgrade i get the following...

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am managing a Cisco 881 with Adv Ip Services ( CISCO881-SEC-K9). It has IOS 15.0(1) M8 on it. I see that there is a new IOS version 15.2M&T that (I think is applicable), and I have read the upgrade procedures for upgrade via USB and TFT.
If I install it will my license for Adv Ip Services be preserved or overwritten. And if the latter, do I need to export it and reapply it? If so, what is the process?
Purchased a new server. Want to carry over DHCP/DNS/DC/SHARES roles from current domain controller to new 2008 it's a small <20 users server. Is there a solid way to transfer Active Directory and Shares and such?maybe image over 2k3 to the 2008 server, and upgrade to 2008?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWe are in the middle of upgrading from two PIX's to some new ASA5512X's. To give you some background on the situation we are upgrading these since the PIXs are fairly old. We had one extra that we had to use since one PIX has failed already. The guy that implemented the PIXs orginally was learning how to do so as he went so there is alot of needless config in the PIX, atleast from what I can tell. Another guy that works with me has done some configuration on the new ASAs and has done the majority of it so far. Today we went to install the new ASAs and switch everything over hoping it would work, but that didn't happen. It seems that there is something wrong with our NAT and ACLs somewhere along the lines. The way our network is laid out is that we have two school campus with a site-to-site VPN one is 172.17.0.0/16 and the other is 172.18.0.0/16. We also have a remote-access VPN on both ASA's. When we connected the new ASAs up and brought up the interfaces, nothing on the inside could ping the internet nor the other side. The VPN showed active on the ASA's and each ASA could ping the others outside interface, but that was it. I have posted the configs below.
