View 1 RepliesThe 6509 Series Switches support the scenario VSS Active-Active Chassis, I would like to setup both switch's as one virtual switch but working at the same time, not with Active - Stand By Chassis.
My plans it to create PortChannel accross both Switches 6509 in order to have 2 links one connected to one slot/switch and the other connected to slot/switch in the second 6509 for servers redundancy.
we are using cisco 6509 series switches as core switches. and Cisco 4510,4507 series switches as edge switches. all the vlans are created at core switches and propogating to edge switches through VTP. we are using OSPF as routing protocol at core switch for internal routing. till now we are using 4510,4507 switches as layer 2 switches. Since, 4510 & 4507 switches are hign end swithces i want use them as layer 3 switches instead of layer 2.if i change these switches from layer 2 to layer 3 does it make any impact on our network or better to keep them as layer 2 switches.if i change these switches to layer 3 is there any advantage i will have.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there reason why WS-C3560C-8PC-S and WS-C3560C-12PC-S is not supported in Cisco Network Assistent? According to the data sheets for these switches CNA should be supported. I saw another forum post stating that the Gigabit versions has been added to the supported list as of version 5.7."The Cisco Catalyst 3560-C and 2960-C Series compact switches offer both the traditional Cisco CLI for detailed configuration and Cisco Network Assistant software, a PC-based tool for quick configuration based on preset templates."

View 5 Replies View RelatedI was slightly dissapointed with the performance of the "pre-sales" phone number of Cisco in the Netherlands so I am asking it here instead. We decided on using 2 Cisco 2921 routers with 2.5GB ram to use for a MultiHomed connection using BGP. We already have our v4 and v6 space assigned as well as our AS number. The connections should turn up soon. What I could not find out with proper certainty on the Cisco Feature Navigator is if the IP BASE on the Cisco 2921 supports both IPv4 and IPv6 routing combined with BGP. This model uses the Universal IOS licensing which I found slightly confusing. I could not find a simple matrix with the supported commands either.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIf i look at the Feature Navigator , it says that IP Base Supports OSPF and EIGRP. But if i look at the Cisco Link it contradicts the Cisco Feature Navigator.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm currently in the process of evaluating potential equipment options for a Core Router/Switch that will be running BGP with several Tier 1 ISP's, the table download from each ISP will be full (300,000+ Routes). I was looking at a 6509-E with dual SUP720-3BXL supervisors but after reading the below link I'm a little concerned by the maximum routes table: [URL]
Do I have to go to the VS based 720 supervisor as a minimum to support full BGP on a 6509-E? Does any experience of the above switch + supervisor combination under a full BGP table, how well does it work? I'm looking at long term using this as a consolidated core (i.e. a VRF for the Global Internet routing table + a VRF for internal data center traffic, plus maybe some more shared VRF's).
Would I be better keeping a Core switch by itself and just buying edge routers to run BGP?
I noticed that the 3600 access point series will get an add-on module to support 802.11ac. This standard will support more than 1 GBit/s.But the 3600 series still do only have got one GBit port. Any extended information about 802.11ac in the upcoming Cisco portfolio?

View 10 Replies View RelatedMy Draytek 2710 just dies after 2 years so I was looking for something a little more reliable and noticed the spec of the SRP527W-U.I take it with only one antenna and reading a couple of past discussions, the wireless will only manage n-lite as some people call it i.e. 150Mbps, and not the full 300? Oh, and are the ports still only 100M and not Gig?I know the 547 would tick both these boxes but we are talking twice the price. I have not done much with business routers, but we have a 1700 series with a WAN WIC-1ENET card with a RJ45 connection. We had a T1 line and will be moving to ehternet. We are going to be moving to a 20MB line, and i just wanted to make sure I have the right connections before installing. We also have a T1 line in another loaton and would be moving to this same 2811 router there as well.We would also like to copy over the configuration from 1700 series router to the 2811 router. Would it be easier to do it by hyper-terminal? Also if we keep the 1700 routers are they capable of using layer-3?
