What's the main technical differences among the 1140 AP series and the 1260 AP series?I know that the 1260 supports external antennas while the 1140 supports internal antennas, but apart from that, is there any other important difference ?
View 10 RepliesI'm new to the Cisco Aironet Access Point. I got a new STANDALONE Aironet 1260 series access point device. The part # AIR-AP1262N-A-K9. The shipping package did not come with any guide, CD, and power adapter. I searched the Cisco sites, but could not find appropriate manuals. I did find a getting started guide but not for standalone AP, it's for Controller-based AP. Question - where can I find manuals / guides to set up and configure my new standalone Cisco Aironet Access Point 1260?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe have been having issues with random packet drops and or some sort of radio lockup which happens a few times a day. I have a test AP setup with a few clients only a few feet away and I see this combination of messages. Should I be seeing these clients drop off and then reconnect immediately? Granted these test clients are not passing much data but my assumption is that they would not become deauthenticated because of lack of activity? This setup is using a radius server for authentication. I tested it before with just WPA2 PSK and only had a few disconnected over a number of days, compared with many a day with the Radius.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a number of existing 1140G Access points.I now need to purchase a couple of new AP's to expand coverage and it makes sense to go with the latest N standard ones.Currently I only have standalone models and at the moment I don't have the budget to purchase a management box to allow me to get centrally managed models.
If I purchase 1140N standalone AP's now, can I convert the to centrally managed ones later? If yes, Any disadvantage in doing this?
I just installed 2 new units and neither will connect to a new HP gigabit switch - no link light, other devices can connect to the switch OK. Their gigabit ethernet settings are set to auto for duplex and speed. I also tried forcing one of them to full duplex and 1000 Mbps which didn't work either. They're both powered by POE injectors. If I connect them to a 10/100 switch they work fine.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to test fast roaming using a Cisco 2100 Series controller and 2 1140 APs. The initial authentication succeeds fine and the wireless connection works ok using WPA2+CCKM and LEAP with a Cisco ACS radius server.The problem is that the client does not attempt to preauthenticate with the other AP because the RSN Capabilities IE in the AP beacons and probe responses do not set the RSN Preauthentication capable bit. I can't figure out what it takes to get the APs to indicate to clients that it can do preauthentication. I'm been crawling through all the documentation I can find, to no avail.

Oh, and are the ports still only 100M and not Gig?I know the 547 would tick both these boxes but we are talking twice the price. We are going to be moving to a 20MB line, and i just wanted to make sure I have the right connections before installing. We also have a T1 line in another loaton and would be moving to this same 2811 router there as well.We would also like to copy over the configuration from 1700 series router to the 2811 router. Would it be easier to do it by hyper-terminal? Also if we keep the 1700 routers are they capable of using layer-3?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with our WLC 2100 series (2125). Basycally internal DHCP server configured on WLC is not working. I have one AP connected to port no 7 (PoE) to bypass and eliminate problem with other equipment.
Port no 7 details:
IP Address: 192.168.30.10
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
Default router: 192.168.30.1
DHCP Server: 192.168.1.250(code)
I am using 5 Cisco 1200 Series APs with both an A and G radio. Is there a benefit/problem to running both simultaneously? I would have one SSID and is setup for Fast Roaming as well.

When I try to add a Cisco 3602i access point to the group, I get the following error in NCS: Error: OfficeExtend requires primary, secondary, or tertiary controller management IP to be set.I am using DNS to allow my AP's to find the controller and they work just fine. Is there a reason I can't add the 3600 series AP's to the AP group?

It is happening on two different laptops. Both using Windows XP. 1 is using a Dell True Mobile wireless card and the other is using a Cisco 350 series wireless card. I am using 128 bit encryption and the signal strength says excellent on both laptops.

Now I was trying to config a second interface ( port #2) and use it for the Guest SSID on a separate VLAN. After I rebooted the controller, it dumped all the APs. I would like to know if this is normal, If I need to enroll the APs everytime I reboot the controller.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a office network that was setup before I started. We have a 172. subnet and a 10.2 subnet. When users on Wifi get a 10.2 address ( ran out of 172 address ) they are not able to get out to the internet. But if the laptop is connected to a LAN port and get a 10.2 address they are able to get to the Internet. Not sure if its the Aps I need to configure or the Pix seeing that if they get a LAN address of 10.2 everything works. This is becoming a bigger issue now that the company has out grown its main subnet (172.)

My question relates to how many clients can be connected to a 2600 series AP. The documentation states 200 clients per radio and the AP has three radios. However when my AP gets to 200 it rejects further clients with the following log: [code] I see this exact message many times and each time the radio mac address is the same and the number of clients connected is 199. The same mac address is used for both 2.4ghz and 5ghz so does this AP have a single logical radio covering both 2.4 and 5ghz frequency ranges and is the limit for all connected clients 200?When viewing the AP details under the Wireless tab it only lists one mac address for each AP for both 2.4ghz and 5ghz frequencies.

What radio is the upgrade tool or controller look for on Aironet 1200 series? This AP is running 802.11b. However, I have several APs which the same model is running on the same one controller. The controller is model 4402.
