I want to change the management IP of our wireless controller, I have 5 LAP1142N connected to this controller.
I have a few questions before I will do this task.
1. If I change the management IP, will the controller need a reboot?
2. Will the AP's automatically sync with the new management IP?
3. Do I need additional configuration on the AP's?
4. What else do I need to consider.
Whether we can configure HA between AIR-CT5508-100-K9 and AIR-CT5508-25-K9. Or we should require this AIR-CT5508-HA-K9 ?

Is there any way to change the IP address in ACS GUI?
I just purchased 2 SF-300 48 port units for 2 customers. I want to be able to remotely manage them over the Internet with my browser. BUT, customer sites already use port 80 for web servers. So, how do I configure this switch to use some other port than 80?
I called support, and much to my surprise he said it cannot be changed. How bizarre that a device with many hundreds of configuration settings does not have one of the most basic settings...
At one customer site I can configure port forwarding and translation to get around this problem, but the other site's router does not offer port translation..
Apparently on older switches you could just enter the "management" command under the new VLAN interface and it would pull the config from the old one, apparently that feature isn't around anymore. I've tried establishing a trunk to the damned thing and trying to switch over that way, but it doesn't seem to work.

o) I want to change the Management-VLAN from the default "1" to the management-VLAN used in our environment. Sure enough I created that vlan in the SG200-config, however when it comes to assigning the management-IP and VLAN for the management interface in the corresponding pulldown under "IPv4 interface -> Management VLAN" the only thing selectable is the default "1". (see screenshots enclosed)So how do I set a management VLAN different from 1?
o) How do I enable telnet/ssh-access to the SG200-18 - I'd be far more comfortable with a CLI-environment?

When I am doing this VLAN 2 is going admin down.
when I was using image 1.0.0.27, I was able to move the management VLAN from 1 to which ever VLAN I wanted. For some reason, after switching the image to 1.1.1.8, I no longer have that function.

View 4 Replies View Relatedwe do have a site where we need to deploy AIR-LAP1142N-E-K9 and AIR-LAP1242G-E-K9 APs. We have two AIR-CT5508-K9 controllers with SW version 6.0.188.0.AIR-LAP1142N-E-K9s work okay, as expected, we do not have any problems with them.However AIR-LAP1242G-E-K9s do not, there is a problem with establishing CAPWAP tunnel with the controller.The AP is seen on the controller for a while, with 0 time up-time, cannot change any settings on the AP via controller, and after a while it disapears from the controller, apears again and this repeats.
The APs and controllers are connected to the LAN campus.Controllers via two 1G links configured as Etherchannel to WS-C6506-E VSS switch with s72033-ipservicesk9_wan-z.122-33.SXI1.bin on it.APs to WS-C3750G-48PS with c3750-ipbasek9-mz.122-50.SE2.bin on it. 3750 is connected to the C6505 via two 1G links configured as Etherchannel.Below I copied the log I captured on 1242 and the controller. Highlighted ones are the ones which I think might bring a clue.
I performed some troubleshooting steps.
- As we have some other controllers available over WAN, I tested the 1242 AP with 2100, 4400 and also with the same model AIR-CT5508-K9 with SW version 6.0.188.0 over WAN and this worked always okay.
- I wanted to be sure that I eliminate any kind of out of sequence packet issue, so I brought down all redundancy L2 links so that the L2 path from the AP to the controller was only through one leg links.
- I also brought the second controller down to eliminate potential issue with having two of them up.
- The AP gets its IP from DHCP configured on the C6506 switch, I am always able to ssh to AP, so the IP connectivity does not seem to be an issue.
- I have more 1242s, all behave in the same way. I also connected them to some other 3750 switches we have in the campus, always the same.
- As this seems to be maybe a kind of ssl issue, I tried to play with controller settings, like enabling Accept... options under Security/AP Policy,but this did not work.
- I also tried to reboot the controller, no improvement.
- The APs came from the factory, so in the beginning everything was factory default in them. They were always able to download the image from the controller in the very initial phase. I still do have some of them untouched, so I can perform any troubleshooting steps with the fresh one.I can reproduce this, can also send debugging logs if needed.

I've two wlc model CT5508 version 7.0.116.0. They are working fine except for the RF grouping part. When I look at the RF Group members part in the configuration, I can see only one wlc (the one I'm connected to). If I connect to the second one, in the same part, I've just one controller (so the second one..). I tried to restart the algorithm but no change. Each controller is configured with Group Mode set to auto, and their respective role are auto-leader...I tried to change the RF group name on both wlcs, but it didn't fix the problem. When I look at the logs, there is one which appear quite often:

Q: a client has a network with 60 AP's controlled by a AIR-CT5508-50-K9 (+ L-LIC-CT5508-25A) with a redundant power supply. Can he get full redundancy by purchasing a second controller? If he purchases one, can he bring it into the network? What about the extra license for 25 extra AP's installed on the first controller?

Now, my company is considering to implement a wIPS solution, so i planned to install in the Main Site a MSE3300 and (01) AP 3500e as a wIPS AP Monitor in the remote sites,
Need to confirm:
A) Can an AP3500 work with HREAP and as wIPS monitor AP at the same time? or in other words, if it is possible to have an AP wIPS monitor far away from the WLC (over the WAN)?
B) What are the requirements of WAN link if I want to install a Centralized MSE 330 Engine,which perform the wIPS solution in all the network.
I have issue about Wireless controler , i have 2x WS-C3750G-24WS and 1x AIR-CT5508-50-K9 , i have max 50 access point license and i can't upgrading because WS-C3750G-24WS is and of life , can i use AIR-CT5508-50-K9 with 3750G to work together? , mobility and everything....

What is the operating and/or peak power consumption (in kW) of a 5508 WLC with redundant power supplies?
The below power details are from the 5508 datasheet which lists 115 W as the maximum draw (0.115 kW) however this seems a bit low, is this right?

Basically I need to upgrade the license for Base-AP count to add 100 more AP's however my vendor has provided hardcopy of license as below:

My understanding is rigister LIC-CT5508-UPG/PAK number on cisco site and get .lic file however what is the use of other PAK where do i register this files with? Moreover , we do have NCS , MSE in place which is centralised devices.
Some of my Lightweight Access Points lose connection every 10 minutes now, it worked without problems before.
I'm using an AIR-CT5508-K9 Controller with Version 7.0.116.0 and AP are all AIR-LAP1242AG-E-K9.
In the log I find informations about my node changing his parent and then reseting the radio interface.
I checked my configuration, but perhaps I missed something.

i have setup of following AIR-CT5508-K9 controller and around 20 AP spread all over the place, two SSID one guest and one for my employees.
the one for guest has web authentication, using Iphone every 2 to 3 minutes it time out and i have to reenter the credentails for web authentication.
I am running big wireless network, with 20no of 5500 with 7.0.116.0 version. I have more than 20,000 AP's. If i add some config in primary controller or do some changes or reboot all the AP's are moving to backup controller. this doesn’t have any problem, but many AP's which moved to backup controller are losing VLAN mapping. This happens every time. Primary --> backup, backup --> primary. Both controllers have same vern...same config etc..

I conduct the testing where i get myself sitting in middle between these two APs.
01. If i disable settsion timeout this feature, or setting the seconds become higher value, what's the performance and security impact? Is it recomend to change the default 1800 seconds session timeout?
02. Is there anyway i can tweak on WLC controller to prevent the client after session timeout then associate with another AP. This will lead major performance impact as the client woudl possibility connect to the weak signal AP and effect on the performance.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have multiple remote sites connected back into my infrastructure via satellite. I'm building a GRE tunnel accross this satellite infrustructure to my user's routers. I'm using EIGRP through these tunnels and everything is working great as far as connectivity to my users is concerned. However, with each of these packages, I would like to be able to remotely manage the satellite modem. My problem is that these modems all have the same web management IP address (192.168.1.1:80) and I can't change them. I thought to myself, "too easy, this sounds like an excellant case for NAT!" View 3 Replies View RelatedA small remote site is going to need a dedicated 10mb connection to our Main Campus. Probably an 10mb ELAN connection(not decided as of yet). The site will be small - no bigger than 2500 sq feet with small walls possibly. Only one VLAN will be needed and we won't need any voice applications or back-up WAN ports. The site will provide connectivity for approximately 15 people. I've been looking at the 800 series routers for a solution. Do you think the 860 with the built-in 802.11 AP will suffice? I have a couple of concerns:
Does the 860 have CLI management?Will I be able to create a secure, encrypted tunnel between the 860 and a 2811 router on our Main Campus side? The 2811 has a 10mb ELAN secure tunnel on one interface already. I will purchase another interface card for this new, remote site VPN connection.Will the built-in AP give me coverage for the sq footage? I understand that there are extenuating circumstances to be concidered but, generally speaking?
From the video spec I viewed, the presenter said it had "basic security". What does that actually mean? This concerns me, as I want to built a secure WAN connection.Finally, does the 800 series fit this application or are there other Cisco products I should consider?
I have installed successfully installed and configured LMS 4.0 and every thing was okay until the customer decided to change the server IP address without notifying any one.
so i have returned the server to its original ip address since nothing worked after they changed the IP, but even after restoring the old IP address the device descovery is okay, but when i navigate to the devices management nothing appears in the all devices drop down menu and the remaining menues also.
i have tried to restart and to start a new device discovery also i have tried to run a data collection but nothing changed.
still stck on the devices are not appearing in the device management tab.
I have two dinasour APs that I need to fix. They are configured in bridge mode to bridge a few VLANs between two sites. Right now the management IP on BVI 3 interface doesn't work. Does it have to be on BVI1 for it to work? When I say "work" I mean I am able to ping it and use SNMP to monitor it.

There is a problem with the configuration fetch.There are some 2503 routers with IOS 11.3(6) and the message on LMS is: Couldnot enter ENABLE Mode from USER Mode on Device
The devices arn't configured with username, only telnet pw and enable pw; no access-lists or other limitations configured
The credential check is ok ... multiple checks done ... devices deleted, new discovery ... devices deleted and manually added .... with the link //serverip:1741/rme/rmedevices.do I've changed the timeouts multiple times (up to 60 seconds for TFTP, SNMP) .... all these have had no effect of the config fetch
Any possibility remotely manage cisco 876? Remotelly I mean by connecting to WAN IP (DSL interface) from outside. It could be via CCP, telnet or ssh doesn't matter.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to separate my management traffic from regular traffic by splitting the management and "outside" interface to separate vlans but I'm hitting a routing issue. Say I have have a management network of 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 running across vlan 1 and I want to use 192.168.2.0 255.255.255.0 running across vlan 2 for the outside interface to send all the other traffic excluding the management traffic across. Tag both vlans on the external interface, say Eth0/0 Default route of route outside 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.168.2.1, With this, you can not hit the management interface because there is no route defined for the 192.168.1.0 network. However of course if you try to set one, you'll get the "connected route exists" error. How can I set the default route or gateway of the 192.168.1.0 network on the ASA. Switches just don't complain like the ASA does.
