at the moment I have mls qos trust dscp on the interface
Is this enough? or do I need to enable the priority queue? how do i do this ? as it doesnt accept the priority queue out command like a normal switch
I can see drops on the 6509 Queue for interface gi1/6 , qos is disabled globaly with qos disabled all packets are in one Queue using best effort my question is if I can see drops using the sh queueing int Gi1/6 command why I am not seeing any drops when I run the Sh int (interface number ) command. View 6 Replies View RelatedI previously put this is the 'Video over IP' discussions group, which is not getting any response.I have a 6509 and need to configure QoS on gig line cards that have 1P3Q8T queue structure. I've already got the mls qos configured, and have the correct class maps built for Voice, Video, and Signalling.(I'm not doing autoqos). I have only four classes; voice, video, signalling, and default (best effort).I need to configure the commands on the individual gig ports for the appropriate bandwidths as shown below:
1. 300 VoIP G711 calls x 100kbs/call = 30mbs of priority queue DSCP = EF (46) CoS = 5
2. 150 Video conference calls x 1.5mbs/call = 225mbs DSCP = CS4 (32) CoS = 4
3. 450 Signalling x 13kps/call = 5.8mbs (round to 6mbs) DSCP = CS3 (24) CoS = 3
4. Default class is not marked DSCP & CoS = 0
Vlan interface would be dropping packets on the input queue? Refer to the drops/flushes below. This is from a 6500 with a Sup720, there are a number of vlans on it. This 6500 and it's HSRP partner are exhibiting the same symptoms on all the vlans I bothered to check. This particular vlan is quite lightly used, there are only about fifteen user PC's (each with 100 Mb interfaces) on it.
There is a bit of information on input queue drops on Cisco, but this is focused on physical interfaces where I can understand some packets being dropped. I would think that Vlan interfaces would have different issues.I note the "no buffer" errors as well, that also concerns me, especially as that counter is quite close to the "flushes".

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have a problem with CDP packets on sent by our Cisco 6509's. Unlike our other Cisco switches (4948G, 5020, etc.), the 6509 tags administrative traffic on the native vlan. As a result the CDP packets are sent with an 802.1Q header with a tag of 1. The other switches send the CDP packets untagged on the native vlan. This causes problems because we have non-Cisco devices in our lab that also receive and send CDP, but they do not process the packets that are tagged by the 6509. They see the packets from the 4948 and 5020 just fine.
How can I disable the administrative native vlan tagging on the 6509? Here is the current setup:
nwkdev-6509-1#show vlan dot1q tag native
dot1q native vlan tagging is disabled globally
nwkdev-6509-1#show interfaces gigabitEthernet 1/9/1 switchport

I had a sw/reset on my 6509 switch. The info in the crashinfo file pointed me to bug CSCso89550.
The workaround for this issue is to disable the gold diagnostics tool.

My question is the following : we have a management subnet on a Copper-based switch; we manage all equipments through this network. I planned to configure the management interface on the 6509 to connect this switch & monitor the VSS through it However, since it is a CMP interface, most of the actions (SNMP, IOS upgrade.. won't be possible through this link) Moreover, I don't think LMS would be able to get the configuration through it (except by configuring a script running "attach" command & show run
Is there something I miss or must I add another interface of the Catalyst to this network (the problem being that I have no copper line card)
I have a 6509 with SUP2 w/msfc2 at home, I am currently have dsl for internet with static IP addresses. Due to AT&T not wanting to support faster speeds in my area, I have to look at another option. All of these will be dynamic IP addresses, cable, uverse, etc.
I need to be able to enable dhcp on the wan interface so I can connect directly into one of the gig ports (either on SUP2 or 6316) or on a 10/100 port on a 6348.
I have the following image installed s222-adventerprisek9_wan-mz.122-18.SXF13.bin, according to Cisco's feature tool, it is supported.
I have tried "ip address dhcp" on the interfaces but they will only accept "ip address x.x.x.x", I looked at "ip dhcp" as well and only get the option for "relay".
I would hate to have to put something else in the mix to handle the dhcp portion. I may be keeping the adsl for my mail server traffic and backup in case of an outage on the new provider. So I need to be able to track if a link is up.
I am trying to determine a problem with flapping interface on a router not showing up in log buffer if Cisco IOS. I've included the config on the switch that pertains to the logging and can't seem to figure what is going on. The SNMP trap is being sent to our Central Management trap server and that is reporting the interface flapping but the flap doesn't show up in the log messages.

Is it possible to put a default route towards that "Network 2" cloud and restrict traffic from the 6509 switch towards the context A?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have problem with traffic coming from GRE interface and going further through FWSM on the same 6509-E chassis. It's very interesting and confusing. If packets are fragmented, I can go through, however, if I use normal packets (usual ping for example) traffic goes from outside to inside and stops on it's way back.

I have used the following basic configuration to do rate limiting on a vlan interface on a 6509:
access-list 100 permit ip any any
class-map match-all ratelimit
match access-group 100
policy-map ratelimit-10Mb
class ratelimit

I have two goals on my Cisco 3750E -
* Limit bandwidth to match carrier provided bandwidth (10M ethernet port, but only 6M provisioned)
* Prioritize some traffic over others through the use of a priority queue.
I have come up with this design:
access-list 100 remark priority traffic
access-list 100 permit ip 10.1.1.0 0.0.3.255 any
access-list 100 permit ip any 10.1.1.0 0.0.3.255

How do I know? Is there a show command to show priority packets?
Am I right in assigning dscp 46 to this interesting traffic? That way it goes to queue 2?
Am I right in applying the priority-queue out command to the interface?
We also have voice traffic. But I think i can trust it to queue up into the router with trusted dscp
