Cisco Switching/Routing :: Sup32 Upgrade On 6509 - Priority Command Not Supported In Output Direction For This Interface
Nov 15, 2012
I have 1x Cisco 6509 with Sup2 and MSFC2 and it is running on IOS (c6k222-jk9sv-mz.122-17d.SXB11). I have following policy map :
Policy Map VOIP
Class IP PHONE
priority percent 75
and the following command on each interface: service-policy output VOIP those configuration are working fine on SUP2 with MSFC2 but last week I tried to upgrade the SUP2 to SUP32 on the switch and upgrade the IOS to the latest version (s3223-adventerprisek9-mz.122-33.SXJ4) but when I try to put service-policy output VOIP on each physical interface I am getting the following error:
"Priority command is not supported in output direction for this interface" and when I try to add service-policy output VOIP on a V LAN interface I am getting following error:
MQC features are not supported in output direction for this interface. Will I need to change something after upgrading to SUP32..
I need to upgrade 2xsup2 module to 2xsup32 on my cisco 6509. I just found out that I can not have the CISCO WS-X6500-SFM(Cisco Switch Fabric Module switch) with Sup32 and I have to remove 2 xCISCO WS-X6500-SFM2 modules from the switch.I am using this switch as a access switch and most of the ports are 100Mbps.
let me know if the upgrade would be safe or not as far as the bandwidth?
I have (2) Sup 32 configured in a 6509 chassis. I have 1 power supply plugged into the wall and 1 power supply that is not plugged into anything but it is in the chassis and has green light to show that it has been recognized.
My problem is the "system light" on both sup32 remains amber and does not turn green. I have done show modules and sh diagnostics and sh power and everything checks out OK. Also there is an amber light on "active" on the 2nd Sup32 which I am assuming means that it is in standby mode so that would be correct.
Q: My question is could it be the power supply that is not plugged into anything causing the "system light" to stay amber and not turn green? Q: Will this amber system light on the Sup32 stop the 6509 from running as normal?
I am facing issue while configuring service-policy output command in Cisco 7609-S router with c7600s72033-adventerprisek9-mz.122-33.SRE2.bin IOS. However, in the same series router having IOS c7600s72033-adventerprisek9-mz.122-33.SRC6.bin is supported service-policy output. Both the switch have WS-SUP720-3BXL SUP.
I have a Cisco Catalyst 2960 with IOS Release12.2(53)SE (because of a contract I can not update it) -> the release notes for this version describe the following:
When auto-QoS is enabled on the switch, priority queuing is not enabled. Instead, the switch uses shaped round robin (SRR) as the queuing mechanism. The auto-QoS feature is designed on each platform based on the feature set and hardware limitations, and the queuing mechanism supported on each platform might be different. There is no workaround. (CSCee22591)
My config is as follows:
interface FastEthernet0/1 switchport access vlan 200 switchport mode access srr-queue bandwidth share 10 10 60 20 priority-queue out mls qos trust dscp auto qos voip trust no cdp enable network-policy 1 spanning-tree portfastMy question now is:When the priority queue is not enabled with auto-qos because of the software bug is it nevertheless enabled with the additional priority-queue out command?
I have a 3750 switch (c3750-ipbasek9-mz.122-46.SE.bin) were i want to add bandwitdh limit pr. interface, doing the following:
ip access-list extended customer_A permit ip any any class-map match-all BW_10Mbps
[Code]....
When i trie to apply the "service-policy output 10 Mbps" to the interface, it says the service-policy output is not supported on the switch. Is this a software related isue ?
I am getting ready to make changes to our spanning-tree configuration in the data center. In familiarizing myself with the network I noticed that our core switch (6509) wasnt the spanning-tree root for the datacenter.
When I enter the spanning-tree priority command on the central 6509, will it be a hitless change (i.e. will there be any disruption to the network) ? All switches are connected to the core/central 6509 by a direct connection.
I know that when I change from pvst to rapid-pvst that the network will bounce because of the change in configurations to all of the switches.
We have Cisco Catalyst 6509-V-E VSS Switch with Sup2T und IOS Version 15.0(1)SY2. We are gettin input netflow information from the gi2/3/7 but not output ... I am not sure why it does not work.
We are trying to migrate from 1g to 10G, couldn't find any module on 6509-E which supports 10G on SFP+ ...I can see X2 and Xenpacks .. but not SFP + .what exactly this Xenpack means ?
I currently have a couple of 6509 chassis (router/switches) with the following hardware blades:
x3 48 ports x1 NAM x2 Sup720 Running 12.2(18)SXF3
I am keeping the four Sup720 modules and have purchased new versions of the others blades including two new 6509-E chassis? Can I take my stand-by Sup720 out of the production machine and insert it into the new chassis?

I have a 10Mbps connection link which I will like to reduce to 5Mbps on a 6509 switch as indicated in the config below. [code] After applying the service policy on the vlan interface, i got this "match vlan is not supported for this interface". I actually tried the rate limit command but I cant see the effect using the speedtest.
I have a heck of a time finding this kind of information on the cisco site...Is the WS-SUP720-BASE line card a fully supported module in the 6509-E chassis?
I recently ran an upgrade on my 6509-E's and when the first switch came back up, 3 of the 10/100 switches that were in the chassis did not power on. After further investigation, these models are not supported by this latest IOS version. The module # is : WS-X6248-RJ-45
We have one WS-X6348-RJ-45 and since it was a few weeks ago I did this I can't remember for sure but I believe this one came up.
Where can I found the information regarding this being unsupported but I know it is out there and any page that showed me that this was unsupported with the latest stable IOS of 12.(33).
In addition to this question, I have approval to purchase some newer gigabit switches that will be supported by this new IOS version and hopefully at least the next few over the next few years. Which specific gig models are currently and hopefully should be supported for the next few years? I don't need PoE or anything spectacular, just regular switches that are attached to either servers or virtual hosts. I've been looking at the lists of what is out there and it seems like there are hundreds of different models and it is becoming difficult to determine what is what.
I have too much output drops in my cisco 7206 VxR NPE G1 router. I'm doing dot1Q on this interface and is connected to switch , i changed the router and IOS but still the error is same . What can be the reason . The interface on switch and router are 1000/Full and i changed the cable also . The traffic only comes about max70Mbps and it is really confusing. [code]
I have a 6509 witch a sup vs-Sup2T, and I´m very confuse for to configure QoS. is diferent in the old supervisor..What is the command similar to map cos to DSCP.. look
This is a configuration in a sw 4507
qos map dscp 56 to tx-queue 1 qos map cos 1 to dscp 10 qos map cos 2 to dscp 18 qos map cos 3 to dscp 26 qos map cos 4 to dscp 34 qos map cos 5 to dscp 46 qos
In 6509 with sup2T and version 15.0.SY2 Im no sure.. I see two command
I have 2 Cat-6506's that are used for my WiSM's. The only thing in both Chassis is 2 X WiSMs a SUP-7203A and a 6516A line card. The only connection between the rest of the network and these chassis is on port gig 1/2.[code] If I have read other posts correctly all points to the ASIC being overun by that traffic being sent from my WiSMs out to the Network.
i noticed the "output drops" increasing in interface gi 1/0/1 in my switch 2960-S although the utilization of my interface is between 20% and 50 %
SW__A#sh interfaces gigabitEthernet 1/0/1 GigabitEthernet1/0/1 is up, line protocol is up (connected) MTU 1500 bytes, BW 1000000 Kbit, DLY 10 usec, reliability 255/255, txload 93/255, rxload 3/255 Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set Keepalive set (10 sec)
I am seeing Interface output drops that appera to be incorrect. When I do "Show Interface gi1/0/20", I will get interface output drops of "4294961382". But, when I do the same command again it shows "0" drops. Is this a reporting error? I am ruinning c3750-ipservicesk9-mz.122-58.SE.bin on a 3750 stack with 2 switches in the stack. [code]
One of my Catalyst 3750 switch have many out drops, I execute "sh mls qos int g2/0/3 statist" command, there are many output drops in queue3 threshold3. [code]
I have a really weired thing happening on 6509 device with one of my customers. The device has a SUP 2 (MSFC2) with version 12.2.18SXF17B.
any VLAN interface once administratively down or simply down shows on "show interface status" output as VLAN.While it supposed to show "Routed". However once the port is up it is shows "routed" like it should.
Our customer get the problem that the switch count the 5mins input/output rate of connected traffic interface always ZERO.The problem only occur in the module 3,4 and 5 interface, module 2 has no problems.

in my LAN the all access layer switchs/stacks are connected directly to core backbone switch (cisco 6509) via sfp fiber-optic, i want to protect my spanning tree setup with the "root guard" command.
1. where would i set this ? on uplink ports on access layer switches ? or on core backbone ports to which the access layer swithes connect to?. 2. can this be set on active (production) ports without downtime?
I am using cisco packet tracer to configure the hsrp on 3560 (c3560-advipservicesk9-mz.122-37.SE1.bin) but the standby ip Command is not available on the interface the problem in that IOS or in config
Tonight we were performing an IOS upgrade on our 6509 VSS to 122-33.SXI6. Both 6509's have dual Supervisor cards installed. Initially we had problems with switch 2 slot 5 supervisor returning to rommon however switch 2 slot 6 supervisor loaded correctly. After manually setting the boot var in rommon, switch 2 slot 5 supervisor reloaded correctly.
After all supervisor's were online we noticed when looking at " show switch virtual redundancy" that sw 1 & 2 slot 6 supervisors were running the correct IOS version but sw 1 & 2 slot 5 were running different IOS versions, however when looking at the show version we are running on the upgraded IOS??? See output below...
Why the active supervisor has loaded the incorrect IOS the VSS is running on the upgraded IOS? I have verified the IOS was copied correctly to each supervisor bootdisk, I see no issues.

I am going to upgrade the IOS image on 6509-E SUP 2T from 15.1 to s2t54-adventerprisek9-mz.SPA.150-1.SY3.bin switch and i would like to know whether i would need to upgrade the boot loader image as well.
I have a 6509 switch with SSO Redundancy (STANDBY HOT) with IOS ver 12.2(17d)SXB11, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1) (c6k222-jk9sv-mz.122-17d.SXB11.bin). I need to upgrade the IOS on this switch.I have 512MB Memory on the switch and 40144896 bytes free on Disk0.which IOS is the latest version to upgrade and also give me some hints for IOS upgrade on this switch?
