I have a really weired thing happening on 6509 device with one of my customers.The device has a SUP 2 (MSFC2) with version 12.2.18SXF17B.
any VLAN interface once administratively down or simply down shows on "show interface status" output as VLAN.While it supposed to show "Routed". However once the port is up it is shows "routed" like it should.
I have configured a vlan interface on a 3750 switch. there is aprox 4Mb active traffic flowing through the interface, but when I do a "show interface vlan (vlanid)" the output show zero bits in and zero bits out. Its a typical L3 config with one IP on the vllan interface acting as the gateway for the VLAN devices. Is this a normal behaviur ? and if so is there any way to get the traffic in/out stats. The end PC/devices are connected to this switch via an L2 TRUNK and I dont have access to the L2 switch on which the actual devices connect. so cant get the real time stats of those interfaces.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently configured a network with a 4500 Sup7E and a 3560G with jumbo frame support. I am trying to confirm operation. On the 4500 this is straight forward using "sho int g0/nn count detail". [code] The 3560 doesn't support that command. The closest I can come to finding the number of jumbo packets is "show controllers ethernet" (example below). On the transmit side I assume that jumbo frames would be tallied in the "Too large frames" counter. The receive side is a little more ambiguous. There are 2 counters that seem to be duplicates, "Valid frames, too large" and "Valid oversize frames". In operation they are not. I am seeing the "Valid frames, too large" counter incrementing while the "Valid oversize frames" remains at zero. [code]

Only issue I have is --- which show command is used to reveal if the password-recovery feature is enabled of disabled as the command doesn't show up in the running config after you enable it ?
NOTE: The command does show up in the C2960 switch in config t mode (unlike the IOS router 2800 series), but doesn't show up in the running-config after you enable or disable it.
On the 2800 series routers (latest IOS) in config t mode the command does not show up but if you type "no service passowrd-recovery" the command function correctly and it does list it in the running configuration.
Have got 2 6500 in VSS. I'm seeing unsual high output drops. IOS Version: advipservicesk9-mz.151-1.SY.bin
Seeing too much output drops on interface ( in millions). When checked buffers ( output pasted below), it also shows enourmous drops.Not too sure, but is this normal or is there something fishy; which needs to be investigated. [code]
I have too much output drops in my cisco 7206 VxR NPE G1 router. I'm doing dot1Q on this interface and is connected to switch , i changed the router and IOS but still the error is same . What can be the reason . The interface on switch and router are 1000/Full and i changed the cable also . The traffic only comes about max70Mbps and it is really confusing. [code]
View 9 Replies View RelatedOn my SUP-7E, when I issue a " show interface vlan X " I cannot see the expected input/rate reflecting the real rate (which should be very high).
5 minute input rate 0 bits/sec, 0 packets/sec
5 minute output rate 4000 bits/sec, 2 packets/sec
(Under the physical interfaces it is ok)However on other SUP-IV I can see the real rate.
My questions are :
- Why the SUP-7E does not reflect the rate, whereas the SUP-IV does ?
- I have heard about the 'counter' command under the vlan interface to activate the rate counters. Is this command application has any side effect on the switch ?
I have 2 Cat-6506's that are used for my WiSM's. The only thing in both Chassis is 2 X WiSMs a SUP-7203A and a 6516A line card.The only connection between the rest of the network and these chassis is on port gig 1/2.[code] If I have read other posts correctly all points to the ASIC being overun by that traffic being sent from my WiSMs out to the Network.

i've got a Cisco 877 router connected to an ADSL link. i'm using the show dsl interface atm just to have a look on its performance. i've tried to search on Cisco website on how to interpret the output but a blog gave me more info [URL]. When i use the command "show ip interface brief" the status shows "up" but the protocol is "down" on my serial interface.
The link between my to sites is down after this happend.
I have 1x Cisco 6509 with Sup2 and MSFC2 and it is running on IOS (c6k222-jk9sv-mz.122-17d.SXB11). I have following policy map :

and the following command on each interface: service-policy output VOIP those configuration are working fine on SUP2 with MSFC2 but last week I tried to upgrade the SUP2 to SUP32 on the switch and upgrade the IOS to the latest version (s3223-adventerprisek9-mz.122-33.SXJ4) but when I try to put service-policy output VOIP on each physical interface I am getting the following error:
"Priority command is not supported in output direction for this interface" and when I try to add service-policy output VOIP on a V LAN interface I am getting following error:
MQC features are not supported in output direction for this interface. Will I need to change something after upgrading to SUP32..
I'm troubleshooting a 3750 switch stack problem where computers are showing input and CRC errors. I'd like to be able to execute a "show interface" command that will show me only the line showing the switch port and the line showing the input errors, but so far I can't figure out a way of combining those two parameters.
If I do "show interface | include Ethernet[0-9]�" I get all the lines showing the port numbers:

We have a number of 4507s. Most are managed via VLAN 1 address. All have multiple VLANS for traffic control. When I do a show ARP or show IP ARP the command only shows VLAN 1 info. No entries for any of the other VLANS on the switch.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe customer has 4 6500 switches. 2 Physical locations, and 2 switches at each locations. The locations are connected via 1 200mpbs metro ethernet(layer 2). We ran into an issue during a DR exercise. We had created a VLAN for DR testing purposes, that did not have any SVI configured, but the VLAN did exist on one of the 6500s. When the customer restored a VM to the DR VLAN, we lost connectivity to the production server. After some troubleshooting, we found the cause to be the same mac address showing up, but in a different vlan. Once we removed the DR vlan from the 6500 all was well. It seems like switches are ignoring the VLAN in the mac address table, and forwarding to the incorrect ports. The switch is not reporting any mac flapping in the logs. No spanning tree topology changes are occurring. Code version is 12.2(33)SXJ2 on all switches.

I used VACL and achieved success to some extent, but my config is making clients take up to 5-6 mins to authenticate IP address from the DNS (bootps).My VACL config was as follows:
Subnet to restrict is 10.100.15.0 (VLAN 15)
STEP 1: Created extended ACL to allow bootpc/bootps through DNS

STEP 2: Created standard ACLs to allow only relevant subnet, server VLANs & some IPs from other subnets for printers/scanners etc.

Catalyst 6509E Switch running IOS version 12.2. Created a new VLAN layer 2, created it layer 3 with an IP address. Issued the state active command and the no shutdown command. when doing a show vlan, shows in the list and active. When doing show int vlan xx, shows as down. Need to get it to be up, have attempted to assign a port to that VLAN in hopes it will come up, but still no go.

I ask him, did you change something? he said he didn't change anything, he just pluged a nortelswitch to the cisco switch number 9, but that switch doesn't crash like the others (3,4,8). the vlan is end to end vlan, so vlan span between all those switches. transparant. this is collapsed topology, core and distribution is the 6500 itself all of the 1-9 access switch are in the same rack, with no loopguard, and bpdu guard configured. and connected to the core using etherchannel. the problem is there is no log available to start the troubleshooting/investigation.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs it possible for me to create 2 vlan interfaces on the 6500 and have them both in the same subnet?
For a specific customer requirement I would like to have a vlan interface on the 6500 as default gateway, sat in it's own vrf, and then route all traffic inbound and outbound to this vlan through the FWSM interface, preferably in the same subnet. I don't think this will be possible so just looking for confirmation either way.
As I will be running EIGRP between a pair of central 6500's and 2 remote offices it will make things much easier for me advertise the connected FWSM interfaces in to EIGRP for access in/out of all my VRF'd subnets. If I need another subnet for each VRF FWSM next hop then I'll have to reditribute a list of statics which I don't really want to do.
The reason I am not just using the FWSM as gateway is because I need to run HSRP across 3 different devices (another 6500 in a second suite), and failover FWSM will only give me 1 level of redundancy for those gateways.
On a 6500 switch running ios 12.2, is there a way of clearing all config settings for a specified interface? I want to avoid going through and having to type "no blah blah etc" for each line.
