View 2 RepliesI have too much output drops in my cisco 7206 VxR NPE G1 router. I'm doing dot1Q on this interface and is connected to switch , i changed the router and IOS but still the error is same . What can be the reason . The interface on switch and router are 1000/Full and i changed the cable also . The traffic only comes about max70Mbps and it is really confusing. [code]

The only thing in both Chassis is 2 X WiSMs a SUP-7203A and a 6516A line card.The only connection between the rest of the network and these chassis is on port gig 1/2.[code] If I have read other posts correctly all points to the ASIC being overun by that traffic being sent from my WiSMs out to the Network.

I am seeing Interface output drops that appera to be incorrect. When I do "Show Interface gi1/0/20", I will get interface output drops of "4294961382". But, when I do the same command again it shows "0" drops. Is this a reporting error? I am ruinning c3750-ipservicesk9-mz.122-58.SE.bin on a 3750 stack with 2 switches in the stack. [code]

any VLAN interface once administratively down or simply down shows on "show interface status" output as VLAN.While it supposed to show "Routed". However once the port is up it is shows "routed" like it should.
Our customer get the problem that the switch count the 5mins input/output rate of connected traffic interface always ZERO.The problem only occur in the module 3,4 and 5 interface, module 2 has no problems.

"Priority command is not supported in output direction for this interface" and when I try to add service-policy output VOIP on a V LAN interface I am getting following error:

View 2 Replies View Relatedwe have a core switch 4507RE at the data center and 2 departments that connect to it via 10Gig fiber using X2-LRM modules. Each department has a 3 switch stack and both locations are identical w.r.t type and setup scenario.the stack comprises of 1 x 3750E and 2 x 3750G . uplink is from X2 port tengig3/0/1 from the 3750E switch.
All of a sudden dept B started facing problem , where the ping would break and throughput comes around 6 - 7 mbps from that dept to the server behind the core switch. we also noted CRC error on both sides preodically.
we replaced the multimode fiber patch cords, re did the splicing , which stopped the CRC errors to appear.now since morning the uplink port on the 3750E (3/0/1) would suddenly be in "down" state with (err-disabled) as the status when i run sh int ten 3/0/1
and i can also see CRC errors and input errors on the same interface.. if i do shut / no shut .. the port is up and active again.. but this has happned 3 times today.the core swith side is still OK and no CRC / input / output errors are seen..
now on the 3750E i have swapped the 10gig module from 3/0/1 to 3/0/2 . the port is still up but i can see 400 CRC and 500 Input errrors.the module is also OK as i had replaced it with dept 1's module.
We're seeing "OutDiscard" error on a LAN switch connected to newly migrated Cisco IP phones. All the other error counters are clean except for the OutDiscard. (please see attached "show int count err" output.) [URL].
According to the link above, the common cause of such discards can be to free up buffer space.(Am I seeing a switch buffer issue?) How to identify/resolve the cause of the OutDiscard.The switch is 3750-E running c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-44.SE6.bin
I have 2 NX4001. Each one has an uplink to a 5K. There is no VPC between the 4K and the 5K. The 5K are VPC enabled.There is a large number on input discards on the 4001 interfaces connected to the 5K and is incrementing.I have a server with smartfailover that is flapping and I think the input discard might be the culprit.what is the cause on input discard. Note: All NXOS to the latest.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have two 3560G 24 port switches. Each of them connects to some 3560G or 2950 switches. Trunks between 3560G are set as 1000/full. Trunks between 3560G and 2950 are set as 100/full. show int status also shows the interface negotiation is 100/full for trunks between 3560G and 2950. The issue is I keep getting outdiscard errors in trunks between 3560G and 2950. At 2950 switches, I see Recv-errors too. I checked all the trunks traffic. They are totally not high. Only serveal mbps. Most time even lower than 1mbps.
I googled this kind of issue online. I see it could be possibly caused by high volume traffic higher than the capacity. But it appears the traffic there is not high enough to cause this kind of issue. Is there any possiblity that could cause this problem?
The below is 3560G trunk configuration for 2950 switch
interface GigabitEthernet0/10 switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q switchport trunk allowed vlan 1-122,124-4094 switchport mode trunk speed 100 duplex full srr-queue bandwidth share 10 10 60 20 queue-set 2 priority-queue out mls qos trust cos auto qos voip trust
the trunk configuration at 2950 switch: interface FastEthernet0/24 switchport trunk allowed vlan 1-122,124-4094 speed 100 duplex full

View 2 Replies View Relatedtoday I witnessed a cisco n5k that stopped playing fair. For a yet unkown reason several interfaces started to show output errors all begining within the same second. While i instantly thought this would be a wiring issue I began to ask myself what an output error actually means. Google usually brings up output drops, not regular output errors. So what is it and how can a 10G fiber interface even detect that there is a problem without receiving what it was sending?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 3560-24ps, and I'm having issues with it booting. When I power the device up all the front panel lights come on like normail, and then the system light starts flashing like normal, but after 5 - 6 seconds the system light goes off. I don't get any output from the console, and the fans still run.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have quite a few 2960's in a manufacturing environment that are experiencing a large number of Total Output Drops. The gigabit uplinks arn't even close to fully subscribed and if I'm lucky they run at a peak of 4 - 5 Mb on a 1Gb uplink. Something really funky is going on. The individual switchports seem to have the total output drops and the uplinks at 1Gb do not have any output drops and never peak above 20Mb over a 3 month span on a 1Gb link.

I don't have anything special configured apart from some trunk ports, otherwise its mostly defaults.Should I enable qos and tweak the buffering?

We are seeing output drops on a C3560 switchport, this port does not have QoS enabled -- application does not need special qos treatment, as long as packets are not droppd, so I suppose all traffic will share the same queue? then how should I read the output of "show platform port-asic stats drop" which indicates that it is queue 3 weight 2 drop? I am wondering what is the best way to fix this? enable mls QoS and increase queue 3 bandwidth share on this interface or just increase the output queue depth?

I've been working on breaking down and understanding the default auto qos configuration on a Cisco 3750 in the hopes of putting together a QoS strategy that will fit our environment. I'm having some difficulty understanding how the "mls qos queue-set output" syntax works.
From another post, at [URL], the author offers the following example and explanation;
mls qos queue-set output <1/2> threshold 2 400 400 100 400thresshold 1: 400%
thresshold 2: 400%
thresshold 3: 100% (implicit, not configurable)
reserved: 100%
max: 400%
However, I'm having trouble understanding what is meant. Here, it looks like it's saying, for example;
mls qos queue-set output 1 threshold 2 400 400 100 400
How come there is syntax stating "threshold 2" when in the succeeding part the 400 refers to thresshold 1 and threshold 2 again? The syntax 400 400 is, apparently, already referring to thresshold 1 and 2, no?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've got a recurring them developing across several deployments of Catalyst 3750X series switches, I'm seeing large amount of output drops across multiple ports but there are is no QoS deployed on any of these switches. (standard FiFO). As it happens the ports in question are a member of EtherChannel groups which are connected to ESX Hosts.I've also seen this behaviour also unexplained on another 3750X at a different site, however it's a single port and connects to an Upstream firewall.However in both cases neither switch has any QoS or non-standard configuration, literally a couple of VLAN's and some EtherChannel groups.Here's some output from the case involving the ESX servers.
