When I hover over the network/internet icon it tells me that I have a local connection only and can't get online. No changes were made to my computer between it working and not working - I have not installed any new software and the modem+router have not been changed.

When I try ipconfig/release is says it can't perform the operation while the media is disconnected. It also tells me that "an error occurred while releasing interface Loopback Pseudo-Interface 1: The system cannot find the fie specified".

Cisco WAN :: 877 - Virtual Interface Goes Down But Not Physical Interface

Apr 5, 2011

I have five 877 routers connected to ADSL circuits provided by Vodafone. Each has a VPN tunnel back to a PIX.
Occasionally one of the sites will lose it's connection to the PIX.
When we check the log, we find entries like these:-

Apr  5 01:31:54.085 UTC: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Virtual-Access2, changed state to downApr  5 01:33:19.344 UTC: %CRYPTO-

As you can see, the physical interface (ATM0) is not being reported as changing state to down, neither is the Dialer interface.
When the router is in this state we have to SSL to the public IP address of it and manually restart the ISAKMP SA.
When the router sees the ATM interface go down and subsequently come back up, the VPN connection to the PIX also recovers.
So - in a long winded way I think I'm asking....why does the Virtual interface go down and is there anything I can do to stop it happening?

Cisco WAN :: No ATM Interface On 887VW?

May 28, 2012

We've purchased 3 Cisco 887VW (VDSL over PoTS) and have been advised they can be used as ADSL2+ routers
I've configured many 887 and 877 routers before for DSL, but never VDSL.
We've followed the documentation at [URL] but the problem is there is no ATM interface showing up in config, nor can one be configured controller VDSL0 operating-mode can only be set to Auto also Troubleshooting so far:
Connected to ADSL2+ line in the hope that it sees the ADSL2+ connection and creates an ATM interfaceUpgraded IOS image to c880data-universalk9-mz.152-2.T1.binUpgraded VDSL chipset firmware to 120330_1738-4.02L.03.A2pv6C035j0.d23j  I was beginning to think the unit was faulty, however opening a second 887VW confirmed that there was still no ATM interface
I'm sure at this point it's that the method for configuring has changed, there is an Ethernet seperate from the switchport but I'm not sure how this would be achieved
As for the interfaces, the back of the unit has the usual 4 FastEthernet ports, a BRI interface and a VDSLoPOTS interface to connect a PSTN line
Within IOS, the router sees the following interfaces: BRI0BRI0:1BRI0:2Dialer1 (PPPoE client for DSL)Ethernet0 (Virtual interface, it doesn't exist on the back of the unit, thinking this is where the config needs to happen)FastEthernet 0-3Vlan1Wlan-GigabitEthernet0 (embedded AP)wlan-ap0 (embedded AP)

Cisco VPN :: ASA 5520 VPN To Outside Interface?

Mar 20, 2011

I have a 5520 VPN that is otherwise correctly configured for access (so I would say).  It is in test (external IP x.x.x.10/22) running parallel on an external switch to a Check Point (x.x.x.4/22) that is the live setup.
I can tunnel consistently to the outside interface on its external IP from inside the network, which is probably natural since I'm inside the network making the attempt; however...
When attempting connection from somewhere outside the network, I generally do not get response from the device.  If I connect/disconnect from the Check Point VPN first, then I can subsequently get a connection to the ASA.  I did actually have one instance of non-massaged connectivity to the ASA, but there was nothing that I did in the configs that would allow me to claim credit for that instance.
So here's the question:  Is there a timeout setting that makes the outside interface go to sleep or something?  I'm still at the developmental stage where settings that would be obvious trip me up for hours.  I verified the routes.  the timeout configs are below; I believe they are all default..

arp timeout 14400
timeout xlate 3:00:00timeout conn 1:00:00 half-closed 0:10:00 udp 0:02:00 icmp 0:00:02timeout sunrpc 0:10:00 h323 0:05:00 h225 1:00:00 mgcp 0:05:00 mgcp-pat 0:05:00timeout sip 0:30:00 sip_media 0:02:00 sip-invite 0:03:00 sip-disconnect 0:02:00timeout sip-provisional-media 0:02:00 uauth 0:05:00 absolutetimeout tcp-proxy-reassembly 0:01:00

Cisco :: Separate Interface For Management On ASA

Nov 5, 2012

I'm trying to separate my management traffic from regular traffic by splitting the management and "outside" interface to separate vlans but I'm hitting a routing issue. Say I have have a management network of running across vlan 1 and I want to use running across vlan 2 for the outside interface to send all the other traffic excluding the management traffic across. Tag both vlans on the external interface, say Eth0/0 Default route of route outside, With this, you can not hit the management interface because there is no route defined for the network. However of course if you try to set one, you'll get the "connected route exists" error. How can I set the default route or gateway of the network on the ASA. Switches just don't complain like the ASA does.

Cisco WAN :: AS5300 Interface Tracking And IP SLA

Jul 15, 2012

I have a dual connection from two service providers ( provider A & Provider B).In my internal network,  I have two Vlans (vlan10 & vlan 20).My requirement is users belonging to vlan10 should go via ISP A and for vlan 20, it should go via ISP B.So, for that purpose, I configured HSRP along with intervlan routing and that worked quite fine. I have two Cisco AS5300 routing connecting to both ISPs and they are terminated to a common switch Cisco2950.All are in ethernet technology, serial technology has not been used. "IP SLA" command is not supported in CiscoAS5300.I configured the interface tracking command for HSRP as well.
When one link goes down then it doesn't fail over and go through another link. To fail over, I should manually remove the external link connecting to the router. And another thing is, if i pulled the cable connecting to the internal network then it fails over. "IP SLA" command is not supported in CiscoAS5300.I am trying to implement a failover using HSRP in Cisco AS5300 but the interface tracking is not decreasing the priority value when the connection is lost with the ISP and IP SLA is also not supported. So, in this case what can i do to make a perfect failover for the network ?
