Cisco Infrastructure :: 2950 - What Replaced Port Network Command
Oct 4, 2005
I used to be able to set an uplink port with the interface command "port network" so that it would not learn all the mac addresses that are being flooded down to the switch. It does not seem to be there on the 2950's or 35XX switches.
Where did it go and what is replacing it? Interface is a Trunk port as well.
I have a etherchannel defined between 2 L2 switches using LACP as shown below. The etherchannel works fine, however when I hard code speed/duplex on both ends the etherchannel fails. What is causing this behaviour?
Im trying to determine the serial number of Gbics already installed and running on a Catalyst 2950 switch. Is there a specific command to do so? There is a command on Catalyst 4506 that gives all info regarding the Gbic ("show idprom interface gi 1/1") Is there something equivalent for 2950?
I am wondering if it has its own DHCP router and if theres a command to enable it?Also Random side question. it hands out ip addresses to other devices (the 2950 im using infront of a router) but when I hook up another switch to this switch it doesnt initialize the port or try to connect? why.
I just replaced a printer on my network and assigned it the same IP address as the old printer. When our workstations were XP, all that I would have to do is apply the IP address to the new printer and, as long as the drivers were compatible, the printer would work. Now that we have Win7 on the workstations, it grays out the printer and wont let me re-enable it.
I'm having an issue with port-security on a cisco 2950 switch. The port-security is setup to user sticky mac-addresses and was working just fine. Recently when a computer was changed out and I needed to clear the security on the port it wouldn't let me.I would type clear port-security sticky int fa0/## and it would give me an error. The error would be that the sticky command doesn't exist. So I went back and type clear port-security ? and the only option was dynamic. Even if I try to take the port security off the switch it wont let me, it never shows the option for sticky. If I change the maximum number of mac-addresses allow the computer will work, but I can never clear the old addresses out.
I'm having issues trying to dial into the network via ISDN. Setup is
1. Users dial in via ISDN PRI/BRI or POTS.
2. Users using PRI/BRI don't have a problem
3. Users using the POTS modem way are getting disconnected after approx 5 seconds
4. Debug shows a disconnect cause '0xF Loss of DTR'
5. The running config is exactly the same as that of a working 3725 (out of support that's why we're moving to 2911)
6. Only difference is in the AT Command set modem settings where registry S25 is set to 5 on the 2911 but 0 on the 3725
Problem I have is that when I change the registry setting on the PVDM it is accepted, but as soon as I disconnect my reverse telnet session from the line, it reverts back to the default of 5. How do I save the registry S25 setting so that it won't revert back?
I have changed the settings then carried out a at&w - which made no difference. I have also carried out the at&y0 after changing the settings but again, made no difference. I can't find anything on this page Link that shows how to save the settings (but then again, it could be I can't see the wood for the trees).
Is there any way to see on what ports a Cisco 5510router is listening to just like a "netstat -an" on UNIX would do. I could easily do a portscan to give me this report but would prefer having the information through a show command.
Transitioning from 3825 to 3945 (OS is 15.0(1r)M13 c3900-universalk9-mz.SPA.151-4.m4). Turning on FDL on the 3825 was easy but the same command on the 3945 doesn't work.
Now I thought the command "sh spanning-tree int gi2/3 root" showed cost to the root bridge. So with everything being zero, its implied this the root, which it is but not for vlan 111 and actually all 1XX Vlans have a different root. Why does vlan111 show its root as out int gi 2/3 but the root cost shows zero?
Issue is we have a issue where a 2950 is acting as root bridge for our wireless vlans, wrong....it should be the 6509, but before I change it over, was wondering about the root port/cost question.
I have network consists of more then 20 cisco 2950/2960/3700 switches. I have configured port security in my switches. initially when i configured on my switches it worked fine....even for copule of months it worked fine. but suddenly it start creating issues and now i am not able to implement port security on switches. the configuration is same but there is no effect now. Same switches were fine but now even having same configuration it is not working. please see the configuration: [code]
Is it posible to config port forwarding on cisco 2950 or other switchs.if such a option is there ple let me know ho to config port forwarding on cisco 2950 switch..
I have been having problems with my router. I have a Net gear N300 v2, but I am not asking for support with said router. Forwarding network traffic from the Internet to a server and then have it properly re-routed. I have never done this sorta thing before, but I want to go into a career in I.T. when I'm older. As a side note, I have already figured out that ditching the router requires to have a software DHCP server, which I am using Windows Server 2008 Data center and it's built in role as DHCP server.
DNS is also configured. The modem a Motorola Surf Board is connected directly to a Cisco Catalyst 2950, and that connects all of the rest of the network, also via a 3Com SUper Stack Hub, and a little 8-port HP Advance Stack J2610A, which connects to all of my wireless AP.
I have two 2950 Switches and am trying to connect via my laptop. My laptop doesn't have a serial port so I am trying to connect through the ethernet port, with a straight through cable and on the end as it goes into the console port I have bought a cisco console rollover adapter. When I turn on terra term I get nothing...just a black screen and it disconnects.
I have two WS-X6148-45AF linecards here that have been out of use for quite some time. Upon inserting them in one of our 6509-E's I noticed that both had "Minor Error"s on their module diagnostics.
I would have just assumed that the cards were dead and requested replacements, but both cards have the *exact* same diagnostic errors, which only seem to effect every-other port. That's too much of a coincidence for me, so I figured I'd ask on the forums and see if I'm just missing something obvious before I assume the worst. Are these cards both somehow damaged in the exact same way? Or is there some config/compatibility issue that I haven't heard of?
relevant diagnostic output from one of the cards (Both outputs the same, no use posting twice) is below:
Router#show diagnostic result module 4 Current bootup diagnostic level: minimal Module 4: 48-port 10/100 mb RJ45 SerialNo : SAL11391VUY
We are trying to install filter software at our main location and branches. The admin console has been installed at the main branch, but I need to allow access to ports 58000-58003 through our firewall in order to successfully install the software at our branches.
I have a LAN with Cisco 1941 as the only router with NAT that connects it to the internet, with a single public IP. There are many gamer users, and they complain that Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 sees our network as "strict NAT", while for full gaming experience it needs "open NAT". After a small research I have found out that CoD needs certain port ranges to be forwarded to LAN IPs. Well, I know how to forward a range of ports to a single IP, but how is it possible to forward a port range for all the IPs in the LAN?
I need to increase the link capacity of 10GE to 20GE between two Cisco7609, so I feel the need to configure port channel between them, my little problem is that I have a SCE 8080 in the middle of both 7600 currently is configured inline. The SCE has 4 modules 1X10GE-L-V2 (currently in use 2), I was investigated and the truth is that I not found anything concrete about how to configure the SCE to "pass" etherchannel through it? What the SCE needs to support 20GE of traffic? (configuration and software)
We have a 6509 running 5.4(2). We have set up a hyperterm session and connect to multiple devices, then we get to the 6509 and it will not work. When we reload the 6509 and we are consoled into it, we get data until it is finished reloading. Then the console connections is no longer there.
Is it possible to reduce de recoveery time after an interface shutdown? Current interface configuration is as follows and it takes 1 second to recover from a shutdown. I need to decrease this time.(Cisco Catalyst C3560) [code]
it is working fine for the above command if there is more than one public ip, in case 1.1.1.1 is for firewall interface public ip?if i have only one public ip and i would like to forward http traffic to my internal network? how can i use command to do that?
Just want to ask if 4-port serial HWIC-4T is compatible for the Cisco 2801?We need additional HWIC for Fast Ethernet but the problem is we don't have already slot for it.We already have two HWIC-2T 2-port serial which is inserted at slot 1 and slot 3. We're planning to buy 4-port HWIC-4T so we can use the slot 3 for HWIC Fast Ethernet.if it's possible to have the 4-port serial HWIC-4T be inserted to Cisco 2801.
We are going to "publish"(I don't know if this is correct word to use;)) our mail server on Cisco 2921. As far as I know it can be easily achieved with static NAT. But the thing is, we don't want to publish it on standard 443 port i.e. we want router to listen for https connections on other port than 443, and then redirect this connection to internal server with private ip.
i just want to ask whether i should do some configurations or not on my cisco switch 4500 L3 regarding the error of 500 invalid port command when host try to access FTP active on to FTP server, i just did static route on gig interface with no switchport mode to that host network, all traffic type was allowed except the FTP with active mode?
