I'm using a Catlyst 3550 to supply power to a IP network surveliance camera. By default, the predecesor to POE, Cisco Inline Power allocates 15.4 W of power to a port ... What is the process for reducing this power output?
"For an IEEE device, the switch always allocates 15.4 W to the port. The switch does not display the IEEE class type in the show power inline privileged EXEC command output. Instead, it displays n/a."

I have a router with 2 service providers connectivity with different ASN and running with BGP.I've announce few IP-prefix by ISP-A and Few Prefix by ISP-B.Both are working well with redundancy. But,Problem is here, that the all uplink bandwidth goes through ISP-A link.I want to make it that, ISP-A routed ip-Prefix's upload data will go through ISP-A & ISP-B IP-Prefix's Upload data will go through ISP-B Link.

This has finally become a BIG problem. Any time I have iTunes running and downloading podcasts, it hogs all the bandwidth for the Internet (but not the local network). This is not only slowing down access from the machine running iTunes and the downloads but for every other device trying to web browse.I'm running two Macs and one Windows/Dell PC on the network. All are hard-wired (Ethernet) to the DIR-655. How to throttle iTunes? I did some research and found that I am apparently not the only one having this issue.I'm about to bail on iTunes entirely and try to get used to Miro, which does allow bandwidth control.

We have a data center with servers set up for different projects, some servers from partner companies and several small LANs. The traffic between all those needs to be controlled and firewalled. The servers and LANs are divided into different subnets and VLANs. Physically, their traffic is aggregated on a couple of 4506 and then sent to a FreeBSD server, where the logical gateways are set up and traffic is filtered between them. The BSD server is dying and having it there is incorrect in the first place, so we are planning to replace it with two ASA (5520) in failover. The question that arises is how to correctly implement firewalling between VLANs. Originally we thought to set up the firewalls in transparent mode and logically terminate VLANs on a stack of 3750 switches behind them, but would that filter the traffic between the VLANs? Then we thought to perhaps terminate the VLANs on the ASAs, use routing mode, and do filtering there, as well. Or should we implement multiple contexts? We have about 20 VLANs and all of them differ in rules of what should go there. None of this can be concidered an "inside" - trusted - zone, nor "outside". Internet and external links are connected and filtered in a different place.

We have 3 sets of applications. The first does not require much bandwidth but is very critical, the other two is more bandwidth consuming but less critical. I would like to know if it's possible to reflect this priorities on the router configuration. Is it possible to set the ports 10000, 10001 and 10002 of the external IP have higher priority to be handled, for example? Also, is it possible to limit the bandwidth that goes through a set of ports?
I must prevent the 2 sets of less critical applications to strugle the critical ones. What router can provide this capabilities? Is the 1921 able to do this job?

I have recently purchased a RVS4000 VPN Router and I have a slight problem.
At home I have a 100Mbps internet connection which gets a result of around 80-98Mbps on the [URL} . However, when I connect the RVS4000 to my network I can only achieve 20Mbps. I am using Cat 6 cabling for everything with Gigabit ports. The QOS / bandwidth settings are disabled.

I would like to limit the bandwidth available to a different target machine. I have been trying to do this on a Cisco 3750, but first I came across this message:
% QoS: policy-map with police action at parent level not supported ...
Then this:
% QoS: policy-map child ... ClassMap BackLimit only support MATCH-INPUT INTERFACE
Is there any documentation, I searched the forum but all I see are complex solutions, I just wanted to limit the bandwidth for a machine that is in a different site. I wanted to apply the policy on an interface SVI.

We are about to share a 10 MBit ISP connection with 2 others companies, and they are going to split the bill up into 3,3 and 4 Mbit, so we where thinking that we could setup a switch before their and ours router and provide them with a static IP from our ISP. But is it possible to set a bandwidth limit on the ports of a Cisco Catalyst 2960-8TC, so that we can set a limit of 3,3 and 4 on 3 ports.

I have a Catalyst 3550 switch and 2610XM router connected with an ethernet cable. Currently I cannot get the port on the switch to open (lights are dark.) I run 'no shut' on the port (#13) but nothing happens. If I unplug the cable to the cisco router and plug in a Netgear router (that leads to the internet) into the same port, the port flickers amber for a while, then flickers green from then on.) I switched the cables, both work fine when connected between the switch and the Netgear router.
This was working at one point a couple of days ago. I had the Netgear router plugged into another port on the switch and could ping from the cisco router through the switch to the Netgear router. I thought I had figured things out, but a reboot disavailed me of that notion. (I know, I guess I didn't save my configuration, but I obviously still need to understand more, so its better that I didn't.) (I guess.)
When the problem is occuring, the below is what I am seeing on the two devices.
ROUTER status
====================================
FastEthernet0/0 is up, line protocol is up
Hardware is AmdFE, address is 0017.9583.b740 (bia 0017.9583.b740)
Internet address is 192.168.1.90/24(code)

I have 802.1x configured on a 3550 switch with ACS 5.1 acting as the AAA policy server.
My problem is this. When my computer boots up, ACS authenticates the machine to AD slapping me in a guest VLAN with limited access to the network. Once I login though, I reauthenticate to AD via ACS which then puts me into an employee VLAN but my IP address doesn't refresh automatically. I have to run ipconfig /renew to get my IP in the correct VLAN or write a logon script that does the same thing everytime I log in.
Is there anyway for this to be done automatically outside of writing a logon script?

I have ASA config with DHCP and its providing IP to users. ASA is connected to 3550 switch it has direct connection or say default static route. From 3550 switch connection goes to Router and it does the NAT and has connection to outside world.
My question is do i need to configure the NAT inside and global (outside ) on the ASA or not? As per my understanding NAT is done by router which has connection to ISP.

I finished the CCNA and CCNP classes last year but due to wife/school/excuse I did'nt have time to buckle down and study for the tests. So since time is flying buy and I got my new desk set up I figured I would set my lab up and get cracking.
On top I have a a Pix 506 and a 1900 switch. I need to find at least two more switches, hopefully 3550's or something close. Then I have 5 2600's with an assortment of cards, but I would like to replace most of them to either WIC 2T or HWIC 2FE's.
Not shown on the bottom are 2 2500's that will be configured as Frame Relay switches. I have a 3600 sitting on my bench in the shop and I was hoping to get something I could configure as a terminal server as well. I have GNS3 on my lab box and was planning on getting another network card and tying it into the hardware lab.
