I have a router with 2 service providers connectivity with different ASN and running with BGP.I've announce few IP-prefix by ISP-A and Few Prefix by ISP-B.Both are working well with redundancy.But,Problem is here, that the all uplink bandwidth goes through ISP-A link.I want to make it that, ISP-A routed ip-Prefix's upload data will go through ISP-A & ISP-B IP-Prefix's Upload data will go through ISP-B Link.
View 9 RepliesMy company has a single 2811 WAN router with dual uplilnks to different ISPs right now. Recently we have had a major hardware failure issue that resulted in network outage. My manager reconsidered my recommendation of dual WAN routers but told me we had limited budget so could only afford one new router.
So now we are looking at solution of 2811 + 2911 with same license level. We don't have any special feature, just basic routing, basic BGP and static routes. I need to know what the implication of having different WAN router model is.
I need a L2 switch with dual AC power supply and RJ45 uplink The optin I got was WS-C3560X-48T-L + C3KX-PWR-350WAC , but the problem is with uplink . There is no RJ45 1G uplink , there is only option for SFP uplink The another option was WS-C2960G-48TC-L , but there is no dual AC power supply option a good model ( Dual AC power supply , RJ 45 uplink ports (Gig) , with 48 port 100/1000 UTP)

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis has finally become a BIG problem. Any time I have iTunes running and downloading podcasts, it hogs all the bandwidth for the Internet (but not the local network). This is not only slowing down access from the machine running iTunes and the downloads but for every other device trying to web browse.I'm running two Macs and one Windows/Dell PC on the network. All are hard-wired (Ethernet) to the DIR-655. How to throttle iTunes? I did some research and found that I am apparently not the only one having this issue.I'm about to bail on iTunes entirely and try to get used to Miro, which does allow bandwidth control.

I would like to know if it's possible to reflect this priorities on the router configuration. Is it possible to set the ports 10000, 10001 and 10002 of the external IP have higher priority to be handled, for example? Also, is it possible to limit the bandwidth that goes through a set of ports?
I must prevent the 2 sets of less critical applications to strugle the critical ones. What router can provide this capabilities? Is the 1921 able to do this job?

After lot of troubleshooting and efforts I figured out there seems to be BUG with routers firmware 0.6.0 1.1 v0005.0 Build 120926 Rel.27100n.When you enable Bandwidth control, FTP stops working from Internet. However, it does work from local network. When you disable Bandwidth control, FTP starts working from internet as well as local network.

Looking at the manual for this router in regards to bandwidth restrictions.When you set up the Rules under Bandwidth Control does this setting shared by the IP range or does each IP in the range get that amount of bandwidth?
I bought a RV042G router some days ago to manage 2 adsl lines at my home. Everything works correctly except one thing : i can't configure the bandwidth management. When i go to "Bandwidth Management" menu, then "Bandwidth Management Type" then i choose rate control or priority and i a had some rules to priorize http protocol for example, then i click on save button. After a few seconds of internet usage i loss connectivity to the router and internet and 192.168.1.1 became unreachable to ping. I had to unplung the power cord to restart the router, the same problem still occurs until i remove all the rules ! Some times i even had to do a factory reset because my adsl modems are unreachable behind the router (unable to ping the gateway).

Just had my line upgraded to 50mbit down, and 10mbit up. Whenever the router is between the PC and the modem, my speeds drop to 30mbit. If i plug directly into the modem, I get the full 50Mbit. Upload speeds are always 10mbit.I've tried power cycling devices, and even replaced all cables with cat6 (which I know isn't the issue, but i'm just trying to eliminate everything)
I am looking a way to allow/block certain users to access internet.

Laptop A ----- Laptop B ----- Laptop CI created an adhoc connection in laptop A with: Essid: 'ad_hoc', IP address: 10.42.43.1, Subnet: 255.255.255.0, Gateway: 0.0.0.0, Now the laptops B and C can see the wireless connection 'ad_hoc' and I can connect to them after setting IP 10.42.43.1 and 10.42.43.2 respectively. So, I created the adhoc connection between 3 laptops. Now, I wanted to check the bandwidth between the different paths. The tool iperf was what I used for TCP bandwidth calculation. The bandwidth between A and B was around 4.5 Mbps , between A and C was around 4.0 Mbps but the bandwidth between B and C (B being server) was 677 kbps whereas C being server was 3.99. I don't understand how can the bandwidth drop so high when B was made the server. The system adapters are identical.

Router & Modem have Japanese firmware which I cannot understand and, according to the NTT East, I must rent both modem and router from them and "will not support any other modem/router setup".I could not understand if it was because of technical or contractual limits.
I have tried to test my throughput after the modem but I could not figure out where the DNS, IP, WAN etc strings of numbers should go and, in the end, I simply cannot connect to the internet from my laptop directly to the modem so I cannot perform the same speed tests after the modem.
I'm wondering if there is an easy way to monitor how much bandwidth is being consumed at any given moment for a home network.specifically, for the incoming/outgoing internet connection.My network is as thus:
DSL Modem -> Wifi Router (Linksys E4200v1 - PPPoE enabled here) -> Gigabit switch -> 2nd Wifi router (D-Link DIR-815 - DHCP disabled, repeats same SSID and password)
Most devices are connected directly into the switch, with one computer hard-plugged into the DIR-815 (I will eventually change this, as the 815 only has 10/100 ports).Basically, I want to easily be able to check how much up/down data is being sent for my internet connection. This means that I cannot use a program on a computer (I've used DL Meter before. Works great, but limited to a single computer).
The Linksys E4200v1 is using standard firmware, but I'm not opposed to loading DD-WRT onto it (was the original plan anyway, just never got around to it), if DD-WRT has this capability.Nice to have feature: Ability to see which devices are consuming what part of the bandwidth. Not necessary, but would be a cool feature.Alternatively, if there is a cheap (like $100 or less deal) box that can interface, say, between the E4200 and the switch, that can do this, that would work as well.
I have a single 7204XVR Internet router with two active Internet connections. One connection is ISP1 (Primary) and 50MB, and one connection is ISP2 (Secondary) is 4.5MB. We have customers from all over the Midwest and East Coast. The customers that are on the East Coast are coming in through the slower ISP2 connection and are complaining of slowness of our applications. However, the customers in the Midwest are coming in from ISP1 connection and are completely satisfied. Unfortunately, I am not a BGP expert, and I am not sure how, if possible, to FORCE ALL customers to use the primary ISP1 connection in reaching our sites/applications.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI currently have a NetGear WNR3500L running Tomato acting as an access point. Unfortunately, I think it's crapping out on me... Currently, there are two WiFi security cameras streaming through it to a surveillance server 24/7, and even though it is in a central location in my condo, I get shit signal ~25 feet away (and that's after cranking up the wifi radio to 60mw).
802.11n is a must, and dual SSID's would be nice too... dual band would be totally awesome but not that necessary (I still have some legacy hardware running on G...).
I have a computer in my garage that is connected to my Linksys router in the house via Cat 6 Cable. The computer in the garage has dual NIC cards installed and working fine. I am trying to get the Camera to feed back to the router from the second NIC card in the garage computer.The first NIC is communicating fine with the router.

After messing around with many different thoughts and tries, I have successfully contacted 192.168.1.120 (the camera) from garage Computer While camera is connected to NIC 2.Camera wants a crossover cable to function properly and won't accept patch cable, I have tried with new cables...no change it needs crossover cable when connected straight to the NICs.
