Cisco :: RV042G - Reconfigure Router From Scratch?
Nov 25, 2012
Today the power was fallen out in our area and the rv042g was turned off. After the power was back I was checking the router because some trafic didn't came through. Then I saw that all the services were messed up and also all the firewall rules were wrong.the lines were still there but it all was setup as [all 0-0].
After trying to restore a backup it gave me the same, even after resetting the router with the reset button for 30 seconds and doing a restore it didn't work.So I had to reconfigure the router from scratch. This services thing gives me a real pain in the *** because in a previous topic I also have mentioned that something is wrong with the services.
I'm trying to access the web setup page and I'm being asked for the user name and password. I have the password from the initial setup written down but apparently didn't also record the (changed) user name. It's not "admin" (tried that - and just leaving it blank - already).
Is there any way to recover the correct user name short of resetting the router and setting it up again from scratch?
I recently switched my connection from DSL to Cable and Linksys is telling me that I need to reconfigure my router, but they want to charge me for the tech support.
bought a home 3 weeks ago where there was already a linkysys router ewhen got internet hooked up they did using that already exsisting router. internet been workinhg fine till yesterday modem thru cable working good and right lights on linksys router working. but cant connect to the internetcalled linksys and said warranty up on this router and they want me to pay for continued phone supopoert for 30-50 dollars really.
I have been set out to pasture by the Linksys support staff as I have passed my 90 free tech asstistance period. I had a power outage and now I have a solid Cisco light on the top of the router but I can not get any port light activity on the router. I don't see how I can reconfigure it if the system can not even access it?
I am using an EA4500 with the latest firmware that support the Cisco Connect Cloud. I am connected to the Internet and I need to edit the Internet settings and select a different internet setting: Static IP from the current setting DHCP. I select the option from a drop-down menu after selecting Edit, but there is no edit and no drop-down menu.
My router worked fine. Comcast did updates and now it wont work. If I connect the cable modem to the laptop the internet works fine. It's the router. She said I need to reconfigure it. I tried looking on the site, typing in the 192.168.1.1 thing and the password "admin" is not correct.
My cable modem is Motorola SB5120. My linksys is WRT54G2 V1. how to reconfigure this to work! We work from home and this is a huge obstacle for us to not have wireless internet
Been using a BEFSR41 with a Speedstream 5200 modem for 7 years with 3 Apple computers. The modem is outdated for todays speeds. Windstream gave me a “new” modem Gagaset 4300. After configuring the 4300 I replaced the 5200 with the 4300. With this setup the computers are not able to connect to the internet. The LED lights on the router do light up and the computer’s networks show there is an ethernet connection but no joy when I try to launch a browser or get email However I could connect the 4300 directly to one computer and get email and search the web. The Windstream tech (phone call) said the router needs to be reconfigured so it can “talk” to the 4300 modem. If this is true how can I configure the router if I cannot get to the Linksys -router web pg?
I looked around the messages, but could not find anything on this topic. I need assistance with the CISCO WRT54G2 V1. I have an EnGenius EOC5611P (500mW) Repeater set up in my RV and it connects directly to the PC inside my RV using, a CAT 5 connection. I am now using a laptop and would like to connect to the EOC5611P using wireless. "Can I re-configure the WRT54G2 to connect the 5611?" (I would plug the router directly into the 5611). According to EnGenius support, it is possible, but the router would have to be re-configured, but they do not support this setup. I would purchase an EnGenius EAO 7530 which would work perfectly, but the price is $245. Here is the link to the 5611 information [URL]
I'm trying to configure the 1130AG from scratch but I'm not having any luck. I tried using the IPSU utility and entered the MAC address but it errors, "The device does not answer". I have connected it to a network so it can get an IP from DHCP but it doesn't respond. And when it boots up from factory reset there is no SSID broadcast for me to connect to. I have tried connecting through the Ethernet port and the Console port to my computer but no luck.
I am trying to develop a firewall from scratch in linux environment using C. Actually its more of a Unified Threat Management sysytem .which features to include like antispam, content filtering, vulnerability analyzing, etc.I have exactly 1 year to complete this project which features can be coded completely in time. Actually I have broken the process of development in 4 stages namely :
1. Capture the packet (using libcap)
2. Break the packet into headers and data (using libpcap)
3. Analyze the headers and data and make a decision
4. ACCEPT or DROP the packet
Its the third step that will depend on the features which are included in the project. I plan to code using the UNIX Socket API.
I just upgraded an ASA-5510 from 7.0 to 8.4.4-1 and theres a lot of stuff in it I don't recognize that I never added, mostly because of new network objects, nat commands, and other migration stuff. Its been awhile since I've configured the ASA and I think I'd like to start from scratch and clean it up a bit because theres so many lines for so little that I really need.
I have a 5510 assigned an IP address on the outside interface with 3 inside interfaces and below are the only requirements I need.
Network-A (192.168.1.0/24) - incoming ssh port 2202 goes to node 192.168.1.2 - incoming ssh port 2203 goes to node 192.168.1.3 - handle incoming https (443) requests - handle incoming www (80) requests - cannot see Network-B or Network-C
Network-B (10.0.0.0/16) - ssh to nodes on Network-A - incoming ssh port 22 goes to node 10.0.0.20
Network-C (192.168.2.0/24) - ssh to nodes on Network-A - incoming ssh port 2210 goes to node 192.168.2.2
ASA-5510 - sends logging to syslog node 192.168.1.3 on Network-A - there are DNS and NTP servers located outside
I had my network running seamlessly for years, I set it up using a guide from a magazine and had both wired and wireless working A1 and originally it was all win xp pro, 2 desktops and a laptop but got a macbook pro and got that using printer, sharing fies etc. All no problem and it was all easy peasy BUT I have mucked up big time and I think it was because I downloaded some system cleaning software, advanced care, toolwiz and pc pitstop but I was not paying attention and I am sure I clicked a few buttons I should not have done. Result disaster, no longer can share files or print etc.ll I want to do is reset everything and start afresh but how do I do that? I use a netgear router with norton security on main desktop. I have a wii, an xbox, apple tv running as well along with 2 desktops, a laptop and a macbook pro. Tried a few things but nothing worked, when I click on network places I get a list of shared folders but end location shows internet! I have to use netgear switch boxes as well but should not have caused the problem.
We are about to install a new VoIP system (Allworx, which I did not select) and need to set up a new VLAN with QOS quickly for my SG 300 and SG 200 switches. I have the default VLAN1 at 10.0.0.0/24 and will be setting up VLAN10 at 10.1.0.0/24 for voice. There are a few other VLANS on the switches as well. I really don’t get the particulars of using a Voice VLAN vs. Smartport, but is one better than the other for this and what would be some good default settings to start with. I have command line and VLAN experience; I just haven’t set up a VLAN for voice from scratch.
Our home situation is: We have 3 Mac computers, 2 PC's (all home/office use) and loads of phones and other equipment. Each computer stores files independently, there is peer-to-peer wireless sharing (through the OS) but no true central file sharing. Our existing network situation is: We have O2 Broadband but don't use the O2 equipment. We use a Netgear ADSL2+ modem (delivering 5/6-7meg) connected to a Time Capsule that offers us home backup for our Mac computers and also acts as our wireless router. We broadcast in dual-band 802.11b/g and 802.11n simultaneously (as there are a range of systems that need different bands). We then use 2 Apple AirPort Express access points around the house to extend and amplify the signal - although these can sometimes be temperamental.
I have decided build an open source firewall in linux environment. I have exactly one year to complete this project. The firewall will be a stateful packet filtering firewall working at network, transport and application layers. I would also be provided log analysis features. What I want to know is whether this is a good enough project or put in other words, is it a worthwhile project to undertake?
Is there documentation on setting the RV042G to Router Mode and what that changes to it's topography? The manual simply tells us to click the button to change the mode?!?!? A 4th grader could figure that out - but what does it do to the unit? Does it basically become a glorified switch with an internet connection? Can the 2nd WAN port be used as a switch node?
I would like to ask if there are dual WAN router models on ISR G2. The client doesn't want the RV042G. Any model from the 890 series up to the 2900 series ISR G2 routers? The connection from the ISP is via Ethernet. If a serial connection would be used then we can just add an HWIC-2T for this matter.

I'm working withbusiness set up a remote office, currently with about 45 PC's that could grow in the future. They are looking at a RV042G or (for long term future growth) a ISA570.They want to be able to do content filtering by category, ie restrict gambling, drugs, etc. sites rather than by URL or addresses. Is either the RV042G or the ISA570 capable of doing this? Are both routers to be available long term? ie, they are not on any end-of lists? I've looked and did not see them on any.Is the RV042G capable of handling an office even starting with 45 PC's? If not, is the 570 a good fit?
Is it possible to configure the RV042G so that one WAN port is connected to an ISP with a static IP and the other to an ISP with a dynamic IP. Then, I would like to setup a VPN tunnel and use the static IP for that and have all the other internet traffic go through the dynamic IP.
I know I could set it up with the static IP as the primary and the dynamic as the backup. Then, if I lost connectivity on the static IP, I would still have internet access, only the VPN tunnel would be down.
We recently upgraded our bandwidth and I have to change the ip address on our ASA 5510. I just want to make sure that I am doing it right. All I will need to do is open up the ASDM and under confiugration go to interfaces and make the needed changes to the outside interface. Then under routing I will make the gateway IP change on the outside interface.
I need to re-configure the passphrase configured on my HP printer. How do you run the wireless network set-up in order to re-enter my wireless network WPA security passphrase?
there were three 3750s in a stackwise configuration but later it was decided to remove sw #1 from the stack and make it a standlone sw. I was trying to reconfigure the new combination and tried renumbering the switches and also changed the priority but the switch #1 in a stack if 2 now, shows three switches still!?how can I make sure that new configuration is done clean and the master switche only shows two switches with switch number 1 being master i.e. with "*"?
Upon turning on the computer, the wireless will not connect. It seems to not recognize the configuration of the wireless. I have to go in and put in the key every time... and then there are times that it says "limited or no connectivity". We just had a new router/modem installed in our network just yesterday. This router/modem is in conjunction with cable tv difficulties we were having.
I have a dir-825 connected to Cable modem and a dap-1360 connected I have both wireless and wired clients. If get a ip address conflict and the the dir-825 connection fails from the cable modem and nothing seams to restore that connection, i reboot both route and modem and make sure no client are on. The only way i can figure out how to restore the router is to reset and reinstall from factory state.I can recreate this on 2 different router "825" with factory and updated firmware.I have removed the wireless extender form the picture and this issue has stopped, it might be the extender of a client off the extender. But everything uses DHCP so I'm not sure why ip address conflicts could cause this issue.
I have a Linksys E3000 router, which originally had all sorts of security settings, and names for the wireless networks, etc. It was all set up. I upgraded the firmware, and all of those settings sent away. Is there a way to reconfigure the settings to get them back to how they were, and if so, how do I do it?
