5 Bars And 72mbps But Still No Internet?
Apr 10, 2011I built a PC a few months ago skelton case, Asus P6 Mobo, 6 Gigs PC16000 RAM, 500 GB HDD, Windows 7. Built it for gaming but since then i have been having weird ntw problems. I am getting internet from the apartment above me and even thoug my PS3 is located 3 ft to the left of the PC and it gets awesome connectivity My new PC (with 5 bars and supposed 72mbps speed) remains unable to access most web pages. I recieve errors such as "No ntw connectivity" and Browser errors like "Fire Fox is unable to access server (<<Something like that).
I am able to ping websites (google) and my gateway (192.168.2.1) from this computer but unable to ping myself (127.0.1). I have tried reinstalling my O.S Cleaning my registry/browser files, defragging hdd, statics IP'ing and a freind even recommended removing Norton as he could only imagine that it was causing the slowness of my internet but nothing has lasting affects. The fullsystem scans I run on Norton Internet Security 2011 all come back clean.
Currentlly im typing this out on my 5 year old laptop. Far worse technology then my new PC and yet its far more capable on the internet.

Jul 18, 2012Can I check I've understood the ACS backup and restoration procedure?A backup run from exec as "backup <filename> repository <repository name>" is the same command run automatically by "System Administrator -> Scheduled Backups" in the GUI, just scheduled for me...That backup is enough to completely restore ACS to its state at the time of the backup, including ACS config (Users, Devices, NDGs, etc.) and the View database (reports, historical data, etc.)It's entirely separate from the backups ACS View makes as part of it's purging action. (I only need those if I want to go way back in time, I don't need them to restore a functioning ACS with the recent reports and logs) if I still have a working ACS left after the primary dies, is it not just easier to promote the survivor to primary and then add the replacement in as a secondary and let replication restore the configs? Perhaps re-promote the new box to primary afterwards?

Jan 30, 2012I am looking to the best way to add a link to our File server on our network. We have a win 2008 r2 server set up to share a directory for network storage. The storage server has a static IP and the way we access it now it so go to RUN and input "//servername" and it pops up the directory in Win Explorer. This has worked fine but now we are building an Intranet and I need a way to link the Data Storage on the Intranet site.

Oct 24, 2011I've got this problem about accessing a file server in my work office.
First, I used to have a desktop PC connected via ethernet cable to a wireless router (there's only one connection in this office but there are two of us, so we set up a router), and I was able to acces the file server by typing "\SERVERNAME" in the RUN command windows. I brought my laptop and I connected it to the router via wireless. After I tried accessing the server the same way I used to (typing "\SERVERNAME") but I got the "Windows cannot acces \servername". Well, I said, I'll try by connecting via ethernet cable, but I couldn't connect either. The only way I can access is by disconnecting the internet cable off the router and plugging it in my laptop's ethernet port. But the issue is that we've only got one connection and some other people connect wirelessly too. I can't understand why if connecting an ethernet cable to the router's LAN port, I was able to access the server from my desktop computer but when I tried the same way from my laptop I could not.Internet connection works fine in my laptop. Networks settings are ok i think. My laptop has Windows 7 and my desktop has Win XP.

Jul 14, 2012I think I understand purging in ACS5 now:Purging occurs when the database either gets too large or when data is too old (up to 12 months, although I assume you can leave the setting blank and no age related purging takes place?)Data is purged by making incremental backups and deleting the backed up data from the local database until the size/age pressure is relieved.So, my question is, how do I later look at the purged data? If I suddenly need to look at logs from last year what am I supposed to do? If I restore it surely I'm just going to go over the size limit again and it'll just get purged, no?

However, when restoring, sometimes the process gets stuck somewhere (the client reboots prematurely if that happens) and more than often the clients can't boot into Windows anymore.All clients have the exact same hardware.Now I know the image can't be the problem, as I've restored this exact image to a client two days ago and it booted perfectly fine. Everything worked.I tried to image two clients at the same time. The first thing I noticed was that the method used was NFS and not UDPCAST, which it should be. Now I know it wasn't using multicast because the imaging went asynchronous.

The software is installed on a D: drive with C: as the OS drive.My understanding is that causer and local admins need full rights to the entire file structure of ..program filesciscoworks directory... and I am wondering if there are other locations that need additional access.

Dec 17, 2011I just got a new 2011 Toshiba Satellite L755 laptop with Windows 7, I also have a 2006 Compaq Presario with the original Windows Vista. We use a DIR-615 router for WIFI connection on both. The old Compaq will keep a connection with no problem and never looses a connection. The new Toshiba will keep 3 bars of signal but will not keep a constant connection to the internet. Do I need to upgrade my router, which I bought the one I have about 3-4 years ago, or could it possibly be a problem with my new computer?

Oct 6, 2011I have a sg300-52 in layer 3 mode. I have 2 Dell access switches that connect to the sg300 in 4 port LAGs each. Connectivity works as expected.Servers are on their own VLAN, and plugged directly into the sg300. When somebody starts a file copy from their client workstation off a file server, the server VLAN drops everything except for the file copy. Even drops packets on its own vlan, (server to server communication) until the file copy is complete. Seems like the VLAN is rate limited somehow.

The original file was a PCKS12 file that was converted to a set of .PEM files as I have no access to any server to do a file transfer. This has worked in the past. the error I get is "Error: File not of recognized types - PEM, DER or PKCS12, import failed". I am not sure what is exactly failing. The cert was converted to a .PEM and the ACE imported that fine.
