Cisco Switches :: SG-300 52 Server VLAN Drops Everything Except For File Copy
Oct 6, 2011
I have a sg300-52 in layer 3 mode. I have 2 Dell access switches that connect to the sg300 in 4 port LAGs each. Connectivity works as expected.Servers are on their own VLAN, and plugged directly into the sg300. When somebody starts a file copy from their client workstation off a file server, the server VLAN drops everything except for the file copy. Even drops packets on its own vlan, (server to server communication) until the file copy is complete. Seems like the VLAN is rate limited somehow.
I've been experiencing a strange, repeatable behavior with my Linksys E1000. I have several wireless and wired devices connected to my E1000:
Wired: TivoHD, Sony BluRay Player, Sony TV, Windows XP Wireless: Lenovo Laptop (Windows 7), HP Laptop (Windows 7), 3 iPods, 2 iPhones
When I try to copy large files (~ 4GB) from my (wired) Windows XP box to either of my (wireless) laptops, the Linksys drops my WiFi network -- but the wired connections continue to work (including internet access). Copying the same/similar file from a WiFi device to a wired device appears to work correctly, as does copying from WiFi to WiFi.
To be clear, my WiFi network "disappears" -- it is no longer listed as an available network (as opposed to just dropping internet connectivity for WiFi). Unplugging the router and plugging it back in brings my WiFi network back up.
I have been able to repeat this issue with multiple files over the course of several weeks, and it happens about 75% of the time (i.e., I am occassionally able to complete a file copy from wired LAN to WiFi).
A little bit of background: I resurrected an old Windows XP box and am using it for shared network storage. I copied about 400 GB of files from my laptops to the XP box (WiFi to wired) with no issues at all. Pulling the same files back from XP to my laptops (wired to WiFi) has been causing the issue described above.
I need to transfer a large file(about 1GB) from my pc to FTP server.I tried with C# code in .net, it stated that "buffer size has been exceeded or queue is full".I tried using cmd prompt also, but it transferred about 380 MB and a notification was displayed as "Netout : Software caused connection abort, 451 Failure writing to local file".
I have SSH and SCP enabled on the ASA 5510. I can SSH fine into the device. However, I cannot copy files to the device usng WinSCP. Used all options but nothign seems to work. I see the log authentication successful, but then WinSCP reports no response from ASA.
I have a 3750 as a core and have a series of HP Procurve switches that are daisy chained using one port. I have two vlans on the port now (6 &9) and everything works fine, all switches communicate and end devices on the switches are also talking. There is a requirement to add a device towards the end of the chain which requires it to connect using Vlan1. Once I add Vlan1 to the port onthe 3750 I lose connectivity to all the HP switches.
I have a Cisco ASA 5505 with the base License. I want to split my network and add a new Internet Access, the first network in Orange works fine. My question is how can i access the file server from the second network (192.168.X.0 /24) ? The 3 switches are Cisco SF300-24P.
After the installation LMS 4.0 I make Upgrading on LMS4.0.1. The process remains stand with the message "File Copy in progress..." during several hours. After the Reboot of the server it points me Cisco Works again with LMS 4.0 starts.OS Version: Windows 2008 R2
I have an issue installing LMS 4.0.1. LMS 4.0.1 installation is left with "file copy in progress". We waited for few hours and the process java.exe taking the cpu (among 45%).After few tried, same problem occurs ...Antivirus is correctly disabled (I checked the process), and the installation file was decompressed.LMS 4.0 was correctly installed using R2 patch on Windows 2008 Server R2.
we just deployed a cisco wireless solution with WLC4404-100, WCS, and a bunch of 1130AP and I experience some problem with file copy under windows xp. The file copy is working fine with my Ethernet connection however. The symptom is as follow. I cannot copy large file from a share to the computer. The copy starts then after a while (let's say 30MB copy over a 100MB file) it stops with the error 'File copy error: The network name is no longer available'. When this occurs, I still have my wireless card connected and I can ping my computer from the controller.I tried to adjust some radio settings (channel, power on the AP I'm connected to) because we have a large wireless network here, but no success. I also update the wireless card driver, create a new SSID, etc. No success at all. However the copy went fine for small file size.
I've rolled back my E4200 router to the old firmware 1.0.0.1, then set up a media server. It generally works (e.g. it streams pre-existing media files to other devices). I can copy to this external drive small (say, < 1 MB) files. The drive has enough free space. However, I cannot copy to this external drive large (e.g. 700 MB) files.
This is another E3000 "connection drops" thread. Some background: I have two E3000's that are cascaded. The main router is in my basement connected to my cable modem and is my DHCP server. The second one is on the main floor and provides my wireless signal (no DHCP, and is hard connected to the main router).I have lots of connection drops with the wireless router on the main floor. Lately I have noticed a trend, though. My connection drops mostly when I browse my network (usually browsing pictures on another computer) or when large files or videos are being transferred. If I connect a cable, I have no problems. When wireless, I have signal drops.I have tried every trick and tip that I've seen on this forum or been provided in the Linksys FAQ. I've changed the beacon interval, fragmentation threshold to 2306 and CTS to 2307, I've tried changing channels, I've checked and unchecked boxes for NAT, Filters, etc. I've tried different combinations of WPA2 passwords. I've tried dynamic routing, static routing, blah blah blah...
When I set the 5Ghz channel to Auto(DFS) it defaults to channel 36 and 144Mbps. When I use other channels, I get 300Mbps. Either way, my connections still drops.
I have the latest firmware 1.0.04 Build 6.I even have the router sitting on top of a laptop cooling pad to keep it cool.No matter what I do, as soon as I start browsing my network the wireless connection drops.I am so frustrated! I upgraded my WRT-160N to this E-300 router to get the faster speed and dual band but have had nothing but trouble. I never had a connection drop with my 160N.
EDIT: I notice that when my signal drops, I can see the power LED blinking on the router, like it's going through a reboot cycle.
We are trying to config vlan 10 for data and vlan 20 for voice on the same port - port 1 of swtich SF300-24P to run both data and voice on different vlans.Do I have to add vlan 10 as an untagged vlan to port 1 and add vlan 20 as an tagged vlan to port 1?If I do not want to assign the native vlan 1 to port 1, how can I remove it ? The GUI page - assign VLAN to port does not allow to remove it.Aslo, what mode shall I set up on port 1? General, trunk or access ?
I have a Netgear GSM7248R switch with 5 different Vlans including th management Vlan. Each of the vlans are connected to my layer 3 switch for routing. I want to access the management vlan form any of my Vlans so my layer two switch can be detected by my snmp manager.
I have some problem in my small network.I have 2 SF-300 48 port switches and connected to 847 router for intervlan routing. I configure 7 vlan in SW1 and uplink to SW2 with trunkport.
The problem is that if i used default gateway for users ip address of interface (vlan interface) is ok. I bring two adsl modem and connected to vlan1 and vlan2 for internet access. When i connected this two modem vlan 1 and vlan 2 are not going to access other vlan 3,4,5,6,7 and wise versa.
vlan1 users getting default gateway from adsl modem ip, how i can permit this two vlan should to access other vlan 3,4,5,6,7 and 3,4,5,6,7 should access to internet also.
I'm using Cisco Prime 4.2 and VLAN fetch for all devices is currently going over TFTP. Devices managed by LMS are 2960, 4500, 6500 series. All devices are using SSH v2. ACS server is configured on all devices and SSH credentials are OK.
This is the error message I get when i select SCP: "SCP user credentials not available. Configure the SCP user credentials and try again Action: Check if protocol is supported by device and required device package is installed."
Is it possible to use SCP as VLAN fetch protocol? How to configure this on a devices and how to enter SCP credentials in LMS?
We have recently purchased new Sup2T to replace the Sup720. When we tried to copy the vlan.dat file across we are facing this issue. Sup2T is not booting up once delete the original vlan.dat file of the Sup2T & reload. Here is the console output during the process. What to do to get this Sup2T working.
I have copied the config and vlan.dat files via tftp to the computer and want to import them to a replacement switch. Both switches are 2960 model. I get the config over fine but not sure how to get the vlan.dat file to the flash.
Vlan interface would be dropping packets on the input queue? Refer to the drops/flushes below. This is from a 6500 with a Sup720, there are a number of vlans on it. This 6500 and it's HSRP partner are exhibiting the same symptoms on all the vlans I bothered to check. This particular vlan is quite lightly used, there are only about fifteen user PC's (each with 100 Mb interfaces) on it.
There is a bit of information on input queue drops on Cisco, but this is focused on physical interfaces where I can understand some packets being dropped. I would think that Vlan interfaces would have different issues.I note the "no buffer" errors as well, that also concerns me, especially as that counter is quite close to the "flushes".

now we have 2 switches: SF300-24..on one SF300-24 we config it at layer 3 mode with VLAN configuration same as following [code] And we use port 26 on 2 switches SF300-24 is trunk mode then we connect both SF300-24 switches. But on SF300-24 layer 2 cann't inderstand VLAN from Sf300-24 layer 3..How to config VLAN on 2 switches SF300-24 Layer 3 and SF300-24 layer 2?
Any snmpset commands to add, modify and delete vlan table entries on SG300-10 switches? I checked url... however this information is apparently only valid for catalysts. The latest firmware is installed and the provided MIB files are used.
I can see drops on one of our busy L3 vlan in the input queue and are going up very frequently.System image file is "sup-bootflash:s72033-psv-mz.122-18.SXD3.binHardware = 6509
Had an odd issue that started up last few days.. Have a port on a cisco 2912 XL that keeps dropping (drops all packets) on a certain VLAN, but still passes others. Spanning-tree for that vlan says all ports are in forwarding status. VTP says that VLAN is still active.
This network is a little strange... 2924XL -> MotoPTP -> 2912XL -> Moto Canopy Array -> Some sites with cisco, some without all feed through canopy controller switch to single port (fa0/8) on 2912.
Getting a few of these on terminal monitoring, %RTD-1-ADDR_FLAP: FastEthernet0/8 relearning 5 addrs per min... Sometimes this is fa0/8, fa0/10, or fa0/1.
I'm thinking the switch has just gone nuts, cause fa0/1 is direct connected to a router used for VLAN1. fa0/8 is connected to a dumb switch on a canopy CMM as a trunk which i enabled bpdufilter on because of some spanning tree issues on VLAN1. fa0/10 is connected to canopy PTP back to the 2924 as a trunk. VLAN69s router is off the 2924. So there aren't really any possible alternate packet paths to this switch from another switch.
I also setup SPAN and captured all packets from fa0/8 and fa0/10 (seperately) and never seen packet storms of any kind on either VLAN1 or VLAN69.Further testing with debug, nothing on spanning tree, nothing on vtp, but on ethernet-controller addr I got some interesting results showing one mac moving from fa0/1 to fa0/8 and back to fa0/1 but it never moves, its the routers mac that is connected directly to fa0/1. Same with some macs on the other side of the PTP link saying they are bouncing from fa0/10 to fa0/8 and back to fa0/10 which isn't possible
my environment: IE-3000-8TC industry-switch ios: ies-ipservicesk9-mz.150-2.SE2
if i do
vlan 12 name NextVLAN state active
in putty, everything is ok. but if i set this lines in a config-file and use them by config net or copy tftp: running-config, then this commands are completely ignored.how to setup VLAN so that this are funktional. i dont need a "interface vlan xx"! in addition manually configured vlan are shown in show vlan command but there are no entries inside a sh running-config output even i user show running-config all.
I am getting very slow window file transfer speed (4 Mbps per second) between two connecting servers in Cisco 6509 switch. I have connect the two laptops in 6509 switch in same module using the same vlan and try to copy the files from one laptop to another and vice versa and got the same speed on 4 to 5 Mbps per second. Switch utilization is not more than 10% and both the laptops are connected in 1 Gbps full duplex.
I have checked by removing the gateway in both laptop but the output is same.
I have a PC ready to use that I want to be used for sharing files, pictures and videos on between our multiple PCs in the house hold. I am going to have it constantly running (I have alot of cooling for it)
I would like to edit .cfg configuration file of Cisco SLM2008. However, I can't read the file because I don't have a good editor(.cfg is a binary file).
I was hoping if someone could give me some suggestions on this matter. I have some IT knowledge but a bit rusty.I currently have 25 pcs all running web based applications on their own. So filesharing is a headache. I decided to setup a small file server for the office. This is what I need the server to do.1) Internet connection comes through server protected by a firewall and then distributed to the 5 pcs (star topology)2) Print and file sharing.3) application sharing (accounting software)4) fax facilitiesMy question to you all:How do I go about setting this up. What do I need (OS, softwares, etc)How do I secure the internet and distribute it to the rest.witch, router, etc)
I have a Nas4Free (FreeBSD) server on location A and another Nas4Free server on location B.
I need to regulary access to location B's some folder from Windows machine at location A. What is the best scenario for this?
I think to rsync those folders/files every night to location A, but then I think what if in the future there are many other locations (C, D, E, F) that need to be rsynced to location A, that will make location A need a very large harddisk space that maybe not available in the market or limit by the hardware/BIOS support.
