View 1 RepliesI'm using the Linksys Wag325N which always served me well. I've always been able to get my VPN to my workplace going. Until now. I've edited a hostfile on my mac (etc/ppp/ip-up) to get a route setup to be able to use internet and the vpn at the same time. But now the vpn would work no more. Why do i think that it is a router problem? Because other computers in my home network aren't able to establish the vpn they used to work with for a long time.
1. is it possible that my /etc/ppp/ip-up on my computer messes up the router?
2. Is there a way to completely reset my router? Tried "restore to factory settings" which did not work. Is there a "harder" reset?
I am trying to configure this router to obtain an IPv6 address from my ISP who offers a dual stack IPv4/IPv6 DHCPv6 Prefix Delegation service.
I did a WAN packet capture to see the type of DHCPv6 packets the router sends to the ISP in order to obtain an IPv6 address and I saw that the router is sending DHCPv6 solicitation packets of type IA_NA i.e. for Identity Association for Non-temporary Address. However, most ISPs that offer a dual stack IP4/IPv6 service, they use DHCPv6 Prefix Delegation in which case the router is expected to send DHCPv6 solicitation packets of type IA_PD i.e. for Identity Association for Prefix Delegation.
I then downloaded its configuration file and saw the following:
dhcpv6c = {}
dhcpv6c[1] = {}
dhcpv6c[1]["renewTime"] = "3600"
[Code].....
So, the option for the DHCPv6 client to perform a prefixDelegation request is disabled. Does that mean that if I set this flag to "1" it is going to work? Well, I edited the configuration file and changed this flag but the router refuses to load it! It complains about the file being changed. How does it know that? Is it computing some type of checksum? How can I manually edit this flag and update the router's configuration?
I have just attempted to load the latest firmware on an SLM2008, everything appeared to work as expected BUT, the switch is no longer pingable on its static IP doesn't appear to have attempted get an address via DHCP. I have attempted power cycling the switch but it has made no difference. The switch is still switching but I have no management any more. What to do next ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had a SG200-8/SLM2008TNA switch that I was using on my lab network (192.168.9.x)One of my clients had an emergency so I moved the switch to their network (10.1.2.x)I can't see the switch at all! Cisco FindIt toolbar won't discover it (other switches on the client network are discovering OK)I changed my computer's IP to the range where the switch used to live...still can't find it I also don't see any new devices in DHCP with cisco-looking MAC addresses.Of course, the SG200-8 doesn't have its MAC address printed anywhere on it, and doesn't have a factory reset button.It's passing traffic OK but I was hoping to get it configured via web console and set for SNMP monitoring. how to discover/reset IP/factory reset this thing?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm new on this site and having SLM2008 switches. I've been trying to solve the problem for quite a while, but so far I was unable to solve it. So here it is:
I'm trying to send IP TV from ADSL box (aka Free box) located in a small annexe of the house where the telephone line enters. Whole house is wired with 1Gb CAT6 cable. I'm using this wiring to get internet connectivity in different parts of the house and this works great. Now the idea was to create a separate VLAN on my 3 SLM2008 switches to get IP TV stream from ADSL box to the media box (also provided by ISP, aka Freebox HD). Different V LAN configs did not work for me: Free box HD would stuck on boot claiming it doesn't "see" the network. So then I've decided to go from simple things to more complex and removed the V LAN (came back to default config) and connected ADSL box with Free box HD with just one SLM2008 in between. Surprisingly it did not work! Same error on Free box HD! So I plugged the hub and started my Wire Shark to see what is going on.
First tried without the switch (just with a hub in the middle) and I saw successful connection:
1) Freebox HD send DHCP Discover
2) ADSL box responds with DHCP Offer
3) HD sends DHCP Request
4) ADSL issues a DHCP lease
Free box HD is ready to show any channel from ISP.
Secondly I plugged SLM2008 back and looked at traffic right after ADSL box: No DHCP packets seen at all! Then I moved hub next to Free Box HD and I saw it keep sending DHCP Discover every 30 seconds or so.... And it was not getting reply back.
So my conclusion is that SLM2008 for yet unknown reason would not let DHCP discover pass.... I've tried un managed Net Gear switch and *boom* Free box HD booted without a problem. I looked through SLM2008 settings and I have not found something relevant.
How to make my switch pass DHCP discover? If yes my next question would be how to configure V LAN on 3 switches to make it deliver IP TV to my TV set.
Which transmit hash policies are supported by the SLM2008? I can't find this information in any of the documentation for this switch, all that is stated is that it supports Link Aggregation using IEEE 802.3ad LACP. I'm connecting to a Netgear ReadyNAS Pro that supports Layer 2 and Layer 3+4 transmit hash policies and I'm not sure which to choose (or whether it matters).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the E3000 wired/wireless router and want to be able to manage my two SLM2008 switches with 192.168.1.253 and .254. Following the guides with adding vlan 2 and tagging the ports in which the two switches are wired together disables my ability to manage them seperately. I have added the gateway on 192.168.1.1 to both switches and told them that management vlan is 2 but no luck accessing them still.

The sip provider is absolutely hopeless. The modem router is a DG834Gv5 with fw V1.6.00.33. There is no option in the router interface to edit QoS settings. How can I improve our voip system? have an iphone connected to a handset or something, could that? We are using an iPECS-50A voip server and iPECS LIP-8012D phones.
My second question is in regards to auto attendants. I need to edit auto attendant settings. I assume this is done using the VOIP server. When the IP address is entered, I get a station program option and Admin & Maintenance. Where would I find auto attendant?
I have a client that is running ACS 5.3 as a VM in ESX 4.1. The client wants their VMWare admins to have the ability to shut down the ACS server during maintenance etc... I know I could create a CLI user with admin priviliges, however, assigning full admin priviliges is beyond the scope of what the user requires. They simply want a user account with the added privilige of performing a halt from the CLI. In the CLI Reference Guide for ACS.
So is it possible to create an account with user priviliges, then modify its permissions to allow for a halt?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a sg300-52 in layer 3 mode. I have 2 Dell access switches that connect to the sg300 in 4 port LAGs each. Connectivity works as expected.Servers are on their own VLAN, and plugged directly into the sg300. When somebody starts a file copy from their client workstation off a file server, the server VLAN drops everything except for the file copy. Even drops packets on its own vlan, (server to server communication) until the file copy is complete. Seems like the VLAN is rate limited somehow.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a SG 200-26. Port 1 goes to Internet. Port 2 to a Synology NAS. Port 3 to a 'small' gigabit hub with a computer and a media player connected. All gigabit connections. The media player uses NFS to access a share on the NAS. How do I configure the SG200 to get max throughput?
Reason is: before I used the SG200 I used a standard hub. THroughput was perfect, HD movies played seamless. With the SG200, performance is significantly less. HD movies are not playable.
I tried switching QoS on, ports 2 and 3 to level 7, and off. Did not solve the prob.

2 SGE2010's with VLAN's defined as 10,20 and 30
Vlan 10 is the management VLAN, and it uplinks to our border router.Vlan 20 is the workstation VLAN, and all workstations point to the switch as their default GW? Vlan 30 is the ip phone VLAN, and all phones use this as their gateway.
I would like to put a LAG between said switches, we have some servers on the ip phone switch that need to be accessed by the workstation clients, and the single 100mb link through the router is probably not going to be enough.As I understand it, because the switches have different networks on them, a simple lag will not work. I did create a lag, and assign ip addresses to each side, however in that mode, it doesn't appear I can block vlan 10 from transiting the LAG, and with out that block I will end up with a logical loop, and spanning-tree will block one of the uplinks, or the LAG itself.
If I have two stackable switches were only one stackable switch has two uplinks one uplink goes to one core 6509 switch and the other uplink goes to the other 6509 core switch can a Layer 3 etherchannel be used if each uplink go to a different core switch, by the way hsrp is running between both switches and also can you give an example how data will be routed from the stackable switch through the ethernetchannel to one of the core switch accross the WAN to another core switch?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have several of the SG300 Serices switches. We use them to route VLAN traffic to Remote Offices, Internet Connections, and WiFi Access Points.In one remote office we have a SG300-10 setup to route the HQ Network and the remote Office Subnet. The SG300 is Connected to HQ via Fiber and has multiple Tagged VLANs on it. If I do speed tests over the Fiber Link on the Incoming Tagged Netwotk I get Decent performance, 80Mbs. If I switch to a networtk that is not priginating from HQ, and have the SG300-10 route packet, I get dismal performance. 15-20Mbs.
I Fireded up a New SG300-28P FW v1.2.7.76. Added a the HQ VLAN 101 and new VLAN 1025 . Mapped some Tagged and untagged ports for each. Switch was connected to HQ Network as untagged VLAN 101. I put a laptop on an Untagged VLAN 101 port. Ran some tests, cam back with 750-850Mbs. Great. Put the same laptop on a Tagged 101 Port, Configured the NIC for Tagged VLAN 101, Same test, same Speeds, 750-850Mbs.I then Configured laptop for Tagged VLAN 1025. Connected to tagged VLAN 1025 port. Ran speed tests, resuts were 15-20Mbs!
I then Configured laptop for Untagged VLAN 1025. Connected to unagged VLAN 1025 port. Ran speed tests, resuts were 15-20Mbs!It was only the Laptop and the Connection to the HQ net on the SG300-28P. Why is the performance of this unit soooooo poor when it needs to route?Other Switches have FW v1.0.0.27 or FW v1.1.2.0. They have Similar speed issues. All Configured for Layer 3.
does the SG300 switches can be used with Microsoft NLB in Multicast mode?I know on traditional Catalyst switches you can statically "map" IP's to mac's and then to multiple ports but this doesn't seem to work correctly on the SG switches - it gives an error about the mac not being not Unicast?
