We have a few voip phones, with the voip server in the building. The hard phones have been trouble, with dropouts and occasional bad quality phone calls. The sip provider is absolutely hopeless. The modem router is a DG834Gv5 with fw V1.6.00.33. There is no option in the router interface to edit QoS settings. How can I improve our voip system? have an iphone connected to a handset or something, could that? We are using an iPECS-50A voip server and iPECS LIP-8012D phones.
My second question is in regards to auto attendants. I need to edit auto attendant settings. I assume this is done using the VOIP server. When the IP address is entered, I get a station program option and Admin & Maintenance. Where would I find auto attendant?
I applied command "auto qos voip trust" to the uplink interface. But I found that the interface shown command "auto qos trust" was applied when i show running-config. Could the command "auto qos voip trust" show in the configuration after i applied? If not, how can i check the interface that applied "auto qos voip trust"?
I have a 4510R-E chassis with SUP7-E running IOS XE version 3.01.01.SG. I am unable to create a port-channel and apply auto-qos for VOIP.If I configure auto-qos on the physical interfaces, I get this message when I try adding them to the port channel:
"The attached policymap is not suitable for member either due to non-queuing actions or due to type of classmap filters."
Auto-qos is not an available command in the port-channel interface configuration, but if I try adding the service policies that were created by auto-qos to the port channel manually, it lets me apply the input policy but on the output policy I get this message:
"A service-policy with queuing actions can be attached in output direction only on physical ports."
With the input policy applied to the port-channel interface, I tried addign the output policy to the physical ports and I got this message:
"A service-policy with non-queuing actions should be attached to the port-channel associated with this physical port."
Is there a way to get the auot-qos policies applied to the port-channel properly?

I would like to edit .cfg configuration file of Cisco SLM2008. However, I can't read the file because I don't have a good editor(.cfg is a binary file).
I'm using the Linksys Wag325N which always served me well. I've always been able to get my VPN to my workplace going. Until now. I've edited a hostfile on my mac (etc/ppp/ip-up) to get a route setup to be able to use internet and the vpn at the same time. But now the vpn would work no more. Why do i think that it is a router problem? Because other computers in my home network aren't able to establish the vpn they used to work with for a long time.
1. is it possible that my /etc/ppp/ip-up on my computer messes up the router?
2. Is there a way to completely reset my router? Tried "restore to factory settings" which did not work. Is there a "harder" reset?
I have a client that is running ACS 5.3 as a VM in ESX 4.1. The client wants their VMWare admins to have the ability to shut down the ACS server during maintenance etc... I know I could create a CLI user with admin priviliges, however, assigning full admin priviliges is beyond the scope of what the user requires. They simply want a user account with the added privilige of performing a halt from the CLI. In the CLI Reference Guide for ACS.
So is it possible to create an account with user priviliges, then modify its permissions to allow for a halt?
i have to configure 80 Cisco 876 routers, so i planned to copy config via tftp from one configured router to PC, edit it in text editor (change ip addresses, dhcp pools, vpn keys...) and then copy it via tftp to another router, etc... Configuration looks fine and it works when i paste it in cli, but when i copy it via tftp i'm getting strange problems like dhcp not working or snmp not accessible. Am I missing something.

I am trying to configure this router to obtain an IPv6 address from my ISP who offers a dual stack IPv4/IPv6 DHCPv6 Prefix Delegation service.
I did a WAN packet capture to see the type of DHCPv6 packets the router sends to the ISP in order to obtain an IPv6 address and I saw that the router is sending DHCPv6 solicitation packets of type IA_NA i.e. for Identity Association for Non-temporary Address. However, most ISPs that offer a dual stack IP4/IPv6 service, they use DHCPv6 Prefix Delegation in which case the router is expected to send DHCPv6 solicitation packets of type IA_PD i.e. for Identity Association for Prefix Delegation.
I then downloaded its configuration file and saw the following:
So, the option for the DHCPv6 client to perform a prefixDelegation request is disabled. Does that mean that if I set this flag to "1" it is going to work? Well, I edited the configuration file and changed this flag but the router refuses to load it! It complains about the file being changed. How does it know that? Is it computing some type of checksum? How can I manually edit this flag and update the router's configuration?
We our currently using site-to-site VPN tunnels to connect our multiple offices using static public IP's via ADSL connections.We wanted to get an additional ADSL connection from a different ISP so that if one connection drops, the other could be used.Are there any hardware devices or tricks we can use to automatically get our networks to failover to use the backup ADSL connection and have our VPN traffic remain up?
This is the initial time to set up a new DSL provider's modem with their tech support. TCP/IP auto obtain IP address does not work (LAN status is 'limited or no connectivity'), entered static ip/dns, then LAN status is 'connected'. However, can't access internet (...DNS lookup failed...). After several calls over 5 hours w/ tech support, now only works using a manual broadband connection when cable physically connects modem and pc. Tried once to add wireless router(reset modem, connect and cold boot all 3 devices...) while the tech supporter was on phone, but broadband connection won't work any more. So the service rep said I had connection and could access internet, the router is not his issue.Is this the new modem problem or the provider server issue. I have had SBC DSL for years before swith to the new provider, everything worked fine. I also tried cable connect to a different laptop, got the same problem. Both PCs can still connect to my neibauer's wireless router no problem.
I had this problem since I installed this game (GTA San Andreas). So, I found that it keep auto alt tab when I play GTA only. Not other game. When I restart, it is gone. and will occurs when I open GTA. So, i try to scan and delete the game and the problem fixed. Still, when I install FiFa 2011, it is also happening. chrome has an application that auto translates any text that is selected, directly in the browser.is there something similar for IE7? I dont wanna install some toolbar or any visible program, just a program similar to the chrome application, that translates selected text and displays it in a pop up.
I live in a shared house, and I am the only one who has been experiencing issues connecting to the internet. I have to ask a housemate to reset the server, as this is the only thing that works.
When I am unable to connect, and I use command ipconfig, the following appears: Autoconfiguration IPv4 169.254.23.29 On the occasions when I am connected, the following appears in its place: IPv4 IP Address: 192.168.0.2
One tip that I came across was to check the box (Wireless Network properties, Connection tab) for "Connect even if the network is not broadcasting". I had hoped this simple solution would assist, but to no avail.
I am trying to sort out an IP problem on my mates PC. I have setup a Linksys wireless router on his home broadband and it works fine with my laptop and gives me a DHCP address. When I try to connect his home PC either with a wireless dongle or ethernet connect it gets a Public IP address through the router and not one of the DHCP addresses. Even if you give it a static IP address and setup the router to accept it when you turn the PC on it still gets this public IP address. It is associating with the wireless router but only gives a local connection. I have done the ipconfig and it just renews the public IP address to a different one
I've gotten a dir-600 and have been trying to configure it so that it won't auto connect to the internet. Some people in my network prefers to manually connect to the internet from their pppoe dial-up on their PC. I've tried changing it to static or dynamic ip in the LAN config, but everyone connected to the router from LAN couldn't dial out as well. changing it to ap allowed everyone (including wireless) solved the problem. but doing so, i am not able to access the router. the default ip's don't work, nor could i find the ip of the router on the network.
so what i want to do is reset it to factory settings and just use it as a hub/switch w/ wireless. don't want to use it to connect to the net automatically.
I have got a Branch Office with two redundant links connecting from Head Office A and Head Office B. Both links are LES 100MB and carry only VLAN 33 traffic. Head Office A has an ASR 1002, Head Office B has Cat3550 and the Branch Office has Cat3560. Both Cat3550 and Cat3560 at L3 switches.At the moment if one link fails i have to manually disable or activate ports/interface on either Head Office A or Head Office B devices and ammend the default gateway on Branch Office switch to either Head Office A or B device, which ever is working.I am looking for an automated and reliable solution for this so that i dont have to make any changes on the devices and failover happens automatically.

I've a D-Link DFE-520TX PCI Fast Ethernet card, which is/was excellent until this first problem. 2 nights ago there was some good lightning/thunders activity, resulting in burning of ISP network switches. This morning they replaced the switches and brought up the network, but here's the problem:1) Under the default card setting with Auto-negotiation, PC looks for DCHP Server address resolution and ends up with YELLOW triangle in the system tray.2) Whereas, when I CHANGE the card setting to 10Base in FullDuplex, then PC gets connected to the ISP network.ISP support said that either the card could be damaged due to lightning strike or it could be due to damaged cable running from port box to the PC (RJ-45). I'm wondering, could lightning strike damage a Network card in such a partial manner (just one feature, i.e., Auto-negotiation)? But that person warned, there will be deterioration in ISP speeds when I use 10Base in Full Duplex (for now) compared to Auto-negotiation speeds. Speeds really came down badly, that's understood.
I usually put some stuff up for downloading and go to sleep. Now I setup my computer to auto-shutdown at a particular time via cmd, but I want o know whether it is possible for me to put some time settings in my modem+router so that it switches off at a particular time or something like that.Then when I get up next morning, start using it again. I don't want to keep my router on after it's not needed. Also I don't wanna keep it vulnerable after it's not needed, even though I have set it up quite securely. ( WPA2 PSK, and MAC filtering)
Last two weeks, I have had a problem connecting to public hotspots. My own WiFi network is fine, but while I am connected to any public hotspot I get the 'no internet access' message on the wifi symbol.While connected to my own network, ipconfig/all shows that I have an Autoconfiguration IPv4 address in the (correct) 192 range - but when connected to a hotspot, the address is in the 169 range, or occasionally (as in the instance below) in the 10 range. Clearly this is the problem, but I cannot figure out what has caused it. Is it hardware? Software? Malware? Or user error?I have run the Wireless Test and the log results are pasted below.
I was battling why one machine was connecting to mapped drives correctly on reboot and someone else was not.Turns out if you use control userpasswords2 to turn on auto-login, then the network drives appear as disconnected on reboot.Turned off auto-login and it worked fine. Now this is an automated system that has to auto-login in case of a power outage.
Any hardware that can re-boot a DSL router such as the WAG 160N when the router no longer passes traffic ? Today, while the DSL line and the Internet appeared to be working, I could not log in to the router from a LAN machine and I had to power it off and on again by hand.We have a number of surveillance cams on the LAN and this must not happen, that the cams cannot be accessed, in particular if nobody is on site for a few days.Unfortunately, the WAG 160N does not have a daily re-boot option. What can one do except for installing a timer that switches the power to the router off and and on again ?
I have a 4507R-E chassis with Supervisor IV running IOS 12.2(50)SG. I am trying to configure "auto qos voip trust" on some of the uplink ports. When I try to configure it on a port that is in a channel group, I get the error "AutoQoS Error: AutoQoS can not be configured on member port(s) of a port-channel". I have also tried configuring it on the channel interface, but it is not an available command under the channel interface. Is there a way to do auto qos on the channel interfaces or their member ports or does it have to be configured manually?
I have a 7604 Edge router that connects to our Data centre via Fiber.
but i keep getting input errors on the interface Gi3/5. i also found out that i cannot change the duplex settings on the edge router to auto, i only have two options of full and half and changing it has not worked either.
I have tried to use a switch in between the fiber modem and the edge router to try to manipulate the duplex settings, but when i tried it the port simply shutdown and then i have to reverse the configuration.
The software version of the router is 12.2(33)SRE3, i really need to sort this out as connection to and from the Data centre is quite slow.
