View 3 RepliesI'm trying to connect my WAG160N as a ADSL modem (disable the router function) and connect a real router (RVS4000)So, i put my WAG160N on birdged mode only, disable the DHCP on my RVS4000, i did configure my PPPOE access (user and password), change the IP adress 192.168.0.2.configure the DHCP and try to connect. i tryed to connect the RVS4000 and the WAG160N either with cross cable or a direct cable. I can get access to the RVS4000 192.168.0.2 and get access to the configuration menu but cannot get access to my WAG160N 192.168.0.1 even a simple ping.when i try to test the connection on my RVS4000 (status) it seems that my connection is up but i cannot get access to internet.
View 6 Replies View Related I've found an issue with my SRP527W that is prohibiting me setting up a useful site to site VPN. In short, the "Enable ID: Default/Manual" option in the IKE policy screen does not seem to behave as advertised. Not matter what it's set to the remote end always ends up receiving the IP address of the DSL interface as its peer id.
The scenario is an SRP527W with a dynamically assigned DSL IP address connecting to a Netscreen SSG5 on a static IP. I have confirmed that:
- A Main Mode VPN works (but is no use on an ongoing basis due to the dynamic IP)
- An aggressive mode VPN works if the Netscreen has its peer ID set to the public IP of the SRP (....same dynamic IP issue)
However if I try to set a manual Remote ID in the SRP IKE Policy it does not get sent as part of the phase 1 negotiations. Debug logs on the Netscreen shows that it receives the DSL public IP no matter what.
Dumping the router config to XML [URL] shows no sign of the IP address that has been set via the interface (despite the setting visibly staying set in the interface). The rest of the VPN config shows up there.
Current firmware version: 1.01.26 (003)
Is it possible to put the SRP 527 into Bridge mode to use it just as a modem?

I.e. she said put your router into bridge mode. I don't know how to do that and Linksys won't offer assistance.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to configure a BT Business ADSL Router (BT2700HGV) to work in bridge mode in front of a Cisco RV120W router and cannot get this to work.I have followed numerous posts I have come across in configuring the BT router for bridged mode and this has been configured as follows:
ATM Encapsulation - Bridge LLC
DSL and ATM - VPI=0, VCI=38 (also tried VCI=35)
ATM PVC Search - Disabled
Connection Type - Direct IP (DHCP or Static)
Disable Routing - Yes
There are also some other options on the same configuration page for 'Broadband IP Network' (which I have left on DHCP) and also a 'Public IP' which has been left blank. After setting the above options this removes the LAN DHCP configuration, the PPPoA logon details and sets the internal IP address of the BT router to 192.168.1.254.
My understanding of 'Bridge' mode is that this router will now act simply as a modem and configuration details such as logon details and WAN IP address information are configured using the Cisco RV120W router? The configuration of the Cisco router is as follows:
Internet Connection Type - PPPoE
Username and Password set
Authentication Type - Auto-Negotiate (options here are PAP, CHAP, MS-CHAP and MS-CHAPv2)
Routing Mode - Router (Other option is 'Gateway (NAT))' - I have tried both options
The WAN interface on the Cisco router is connected to one of the LAN ports on the BT router. The 'Broadband' light is on the BT router but the 'Internet' light isn't. The WAN status on the Cisco router is 'Connecting'. I am sure I am missing something simple. We have been assigned a range of static IP addresses from BT so am trying to get these working too (x.x.x.24/29 - 5 usable statics), another option available (other than PPPoE) for configuring the WAN interface on the Cisco router is a 'Static IP', not sure if this is the correct option but have tried messing with it, I have tried assigning a static IP from the range given to us (.30 - the router address specified by BT) along with the subnet mask, however don't know what to put as the default gateway, would this be the peer address (but assume that would change anyway), in any case, using the 'Static IP' option does not give an option to supply the BT logon details which I assume is required?
In bridged mode, what is the peer address assigned to, the BT router or the Cisco router?Does the BT router need to be configured with a public IP address?
I'm a Cisco newbie and I'm in the following situation:
1>The router (867) must connect to my ISP in 1483 bridged (2684 bridged) mode, LLC, VPI/VCI 0/35
2>WAN IP will be assigned by ISP (DHCP)
3>No username and password required to establish the connection
4>MAC-Cloning is advised, not required
5>Firewall behind 867, WAN IP should be assigned to WAN interface firewall, connection established by 867
6>867 router will be used as a switch, so no NAT required. NAT will be setup on the firewall
7>Connection type: Analog (annex A)
The required setup can be fixed by configuring the 867 in half-bridged mode, but I don't no how and I don't know exactly how to config the 867 in bridged mode.
First, it's even hard to setup a good bridged config.

I installed DD-WRT on my router and placed it in bridge mode, configuring it with what I thought was my Androids IP address for the gateway. I tried with the Android IP address identified through cmyip.org, 208.54.32.156, and with the one identified through ipconfig command, 192.168.43.1. Neither address was successful. I am desiging a topology with two Cat 6509 and Two ACE Module, one ACE per Catalyst. I am thinking to use bridge mode for the customer contexts, I would like to know if the Bridged mode is an Assymetric topology.
The server gateway is the ip address of the ACE or the Router?
I cannot find any explicit instructions on this. Maybe they're calling it other things or implying it in other settings.
How do I configured a BEFSR41 to operate in bridged mode?

View 9 Replies View RelatedUsing Cisco 1811W with IOS 15.1(4)M5. FE0 and FE1 are connected to the internet via Billion ADSL2+ modems operating in bridged mode. Both lines are similar so I'll only discuss FE0 from this point on.Local subnet is 192.168.128.0/24 with router on 192.168.128.1 as default gateway. Modem on FE0 has static LAN IP of 192.168.128.2 and when plugged into the switch on the LAN side, the web interface can be accessed at that IP address. Unplug the modem from the switch and plug it into FE0 and it now works as desired providing access from the router to the internet but the web interface is no longer accessable at 192.168.128.2
I tried adding a static route "ip route 192.168.128.2 255.255.255.255 FastEthernet 0" and also "ip route 192.168.128.2 255.255.255.255 Dialer 1" Neither worked and presumably it isn't that straight forward. Possibly NAT or other routing configuration required.Although there isn't much to configure when in bridged mode, I mostly want this setup so I can look at the ADSL connection status and for the modem to write messages to syslog (works when plugged into switch on LAN side), or SNMP access.
I understand routed vs bridged mode configuration fairly well, however, I do not understand the pros/cons between using them.

Recently I mode it from my home to my store, where I have a already working CCTV setup. Initially the router did not work, but once the service provider removed the mac-id binding (with my previous ADSL2+ router) the WAG54G2 was connecting on DSL. However it never got a DNS value. Currently I am using it with a fixed DNS.
After a few days of working I noticed that my remote viewing for the CCTV was not working. On checking the router settings I saw that the router had defaulted to no settings at all. Changing it back to PPPoE did not work since the page would not render completely. Resetting to Factory settings also did not work. However simply switching off the router and restarting it worked. I let it go then. The same thing happened again within a day or two. Each time restarted the router seemed to solve the problem, however temporarily.
I have the SPI firewall enabled also I have application port forwarding set for HTML port 80 forwarding to say port 1234.

I'm having trouble getting my RV220W router to work with a DSL modem. I pre-configured the device and shipped it to one of our store locations. I came to find out that the site had an "Advanced" modem (according to the carrier) and I had to have them "bridge" the modem. Prior to having the modem "bridged" I was able to have the user plug the RV220W into the modem, and the computer that was hard-wired to the router was pulling the correct set of IP addresses, however, my VPN tunnel was not working because the WAN address that the RV220W was receiving was 192.168.2.12 instead of the staticly assigned IP address from the ISP After bridging the modem, the user is able to access the RV220W but he does not have internet connectivity. According to the carrier, this is because we need to enter their PPOE username and password into the RV220W. My only problem is that my on-site person is not very technical, and although I have access to one of our other sites with a working RV220W I'm not able to find where I enter this PPPOE information into the device. get this thing setup so that the customer is able to get connected to the internet, and that my RV220W is pulling the correct staticly assigned IP address from the ISP?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am working overseas for a small company, trying to get an RV120 VPN router to connect to our network back home. Part of the problem is that I have to use a DSL modem here which is also a router, and so the WAN IP given to the modem is not the same one used by the VPN router.
Do we need to create a bridge between the two routers so that the VPN router can use the WAN IP from the ISP instead of a DHCP address on the local network? Or is this the wrong approach?
if the SRP527W supports QOS over a site to site VPN.
SITE A will have the main phone system and SITE B will have a couple of phones which hook into the SITE A phone system over the existing IPSEC VPN
Need to be able to set some type of QOS over the VPN connection.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a SRP527W router connected to a L2 managed switch (a TP-Link... I know, it is not a Cisco...). and a PC and a Printer connected to the switch. Now, I want to have the PC and the printer on 2 VLANs.
I've created 2 VLANs on the SRP (192.168.1.0/24 and 192.168.2.0/24) and I have assigned Lan port 1 to both. The SRP acts a DHCP server so I have the SRP setup as 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.2.1 providing IP addresses to the 2 VLANs.
I setup VLAN 1 and 2 on the switch, assigning port 2 to VLAN 1 and port 3 to VLAN 2 (port 1 is trunk and connects to the SRP).
When I fire up the PC and printer they get their respective VLANs correct addresses (PC: 192.168.1.30 and printer: 192.168.2.30) but I cannot for the love of Odin see the printer from the PC. The SRP has Inter VLAN routing enabled. By the way, the switch has address 192.168.1.2
I have a network which is based upon a 4507 Core/Dist switch, with 1G fibre to a bunch of radially connected 2960 Access switches. It all works fine and as expected for data and telephony.I have been tasked with setting up one of the VLANs to support multicast, so a bunch of video streams will be injected at the 4507, and will be delivered to client PCs connected to the 2960 switches. The 4507 is running with SVIs to some VLANs, but the VLAN that will have the Multicast on it is isolated, with no SVI.I could change this if required,I need to run IGMP snooping, and probably deploy CGMP to take advantage of the Cisco-proprietary functionaity.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got a new Cisco srp527w-u router which is working fine though it's syncing at a lower rate than my Billion (6mbps vs. 8.5 mbps for the billion on the same line). I had tweaked the billion way back to connect with a 4db SNR margin and almost certainly this is why it achieves the higher rate (by comparison the cisco is syncing with an snr margin of 12db). Is there some way that I can configure it to use a lower SNR margin? I realize this might reduce connection stability but I'd at least like to be able to give it a try if possible.
