I would like to convert my cable modem Cisco epc3825 (bridge only), and thus can not function as a router. Before if I could, but my Internet Service provider has updated the firmware epc3825 and I can not pass it on to cable modem (bridge only).

I'm trying to use my WAG120N router as a modem only/Bridged Mode and I've managed to enter all my settings needed on the WAG120N which is the Encapsulation to Bridged Mode Only, QoS to UBR, Type Of Connection to LLC, VPI and VCI to 0 and 35, DSL Modulation to Multi mode.On the EA4500's end I've entered my Usrname and password in the Internet settings and configured for PPPoE.

I got ftp working for my usb attached wv delements drive , but it is totally invisible in windows (except for ftp of course).I read in an older post that the usb drive in certain situations does not work (independent of disk manufacturer/type and such) and for certain configurations the ftp option might work but the windows mapped network drive doesn't , does that still apply? does it apply to bridged mode ?

1>The router (867) must connect to my ISP in 1483 bridged (2684 bridged) mode, LLC, VPI/VCI 0/35
2>WAN IP will be assigned by ISP (DHCP)
3>No username and password required to establish the connection
4>MAC-Cloning is advised, not required
5>Firewall behind 867, WAN IP should be assigned to WAN interface firewall, connection established by 867
6>867 router will be used as a switch, so no NAT required. NAT will be setup on the firewall
7>Connection type: Analog (annex A)
The required setup can be fixed by configuring the 867 in half-bridged mode, but I don't no how and I don't know exactly how to config the 867 in bridged mode.
First, it's even hard to setup a good bridged config.

Guest Wireless works perfectly in Ver. 1.0.04 build 11 but not in Ver. 1.0..05 Build 7.
Whatever a NAT is supported for ACE-20 module? I do need to convert working CSM(SLB) config to ACE configuration and I am not quite sure if the configuration below is correct. ACE module should be configured in bridge mode with two vlans - vlan 36 (client) and vlan 436 (server) - bridged with interface bvi 36. NAT on ACE configurad as "nat dynamic 1025 vlan 436" into corresponding "policy-map type loadbalance". Check two parts of configs and if the ACE config is properly converted from CSM and will be working in the same way (especialy for NAT). [code]

The device works fine if I assigned it an IP address but the minute I set bridge mode only and assign the static IP to my system then nothing works. I have the latest firmware.

The server gateway is the ip address of the ACE or the Router?
My Encapsulation router WAG54G2 switch RFC 2516 PPPoE to Bridged mode only everyday and all configuration that i made will reset and also Application & Gaming button error when i click.I'v reset to factory default and upgrade the firmwire to the latest one but it not work also I replace the device but nothing changed.The problem will solve if I cut the powir off and restarted agein.
View 3 Replies View RelatedUsing Cisco 1811W with IOS 15.1(4)M5. FE0 and FE1 are connected to the internet via Billion ADSL2+ modems operating in bridged mode. Both lines are similar so I'll only discuss FE0 from this point on.Local subnet is 192.168.128.0/24 with router on 192.168.128.1 as default gateway. Modem on FE0 has static LAN IP of 192.168.128.2 and when plugged into the switch on the LAN side, the web interface can be accessed at that IP address. Unplug the modem from the switch and plug it into FE0 and it now works as desired providing access from the router to the internet but the web interface is no longer accessable at 192.168.128.2
I tried adding a static route "ip route 192.168.128.2 255.255.255.255 FastEthernet 0" and also "ip route 192.168.128.2 255.255.255.255 Dialer 1" Neither worked and presumably it isn't that straight forward. Possibly NAT or other routing configuration required.Although there isn't much to configure when in bridged mode, I mostly want this setup so I can look at the ADSL connection status and for the modem to write messages to syslog (works when plugged into switch on LAN side), or SNMP access.
I understand routed vs bridged mode configuration fairly well, however, I do not understand the pros/cons between using them.

I have a WAG54G2 working fine for more than 2 years now. It has the initial firmware version 1.00.10
Recently I mode it from my home to my store, where I have a already working CCTV setup. Initially the router did not work, but once the service provider removed the mac-id binding (with my previous ADSL2+ router) the WAG54G2 was connecting on DSL. However it never got a DNS value. Currently I am using it with a fixed DNS.
After a few days of working I noticed that my remote viewing for the CCTV was not working. On checking the router settings I saw that the router had defaulted to no settings at all. Changing it back to PPPoE did not work since the page would not render completely. Resetting to Factory settings also did not work. However simply switching off the router and restarting it worked. I let it go then. The same thing happened again within a day or two. Each time restarted the router seemed to solve the problem, however temporarily.
I have the SPI firewall enabled also I have application port forwarding set for HTML port 80 forwarding to say port 1234.
I'm using Cisco EPC3825 cable modem for my home network, and wondered a thing, that if I set up modem to work in router-mode, my real connection speed slows down to around 5-7Mt/s, when using modem in bridged mode, my connection speed is close to 15-20Mt/s. My serviceprovider provides 200/10M speed to my modem, and they've checked, that modem is working with 204/10M speed, and computers works also, if using modem in bridged-mode.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought a new connection with this router, and the first time i tried to access it it had the default <blank> username and password it, so i changed it. But now i really don't remember what it could be. I tried to reset the router, but it still didn't clear the password. I tried to contact my ISP, and they said they can't access my router remotely, i had to reset it myself. I've tried to reset it many times (holding down the reset button for 10-100 seconds), but by PASSWORD won't be reset.
How can i reset it? Is there perhaps any other reset trick for it?
The other day I decided to upgrade my old 10/2Mbps connection to a 100/5Mbps cable connection and my ISP gave me the EPC3825 router. When using an ethernet cable everything works great and my speedchecks max out every time, the problem is that I can't have cables all over my apartment so I'd like to use wireless. With a computer located right next to the router I've gotten as high as 20Mbps and usually I'm left at about 3Mbps. I'm aware that using wireless can result in a small drop of speed but this just seems too much, especially considering the fact that I ran a steady 10Mbps when using wireless on my old connection.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am working overseas for a small company, trying to get an RV120 VPN router to connect to our network back home. Part of the problem is that I have to use a DSL modem here which is also a router, and so the WAN IP given to the modem is not the same one used by the VPN router.
Do we need to create a bridge between the two routers so that the VPN router can use the WAN IP from the ISP instead of a DHCP address on the local network? Or is this the wrong approach?
I have a Speedstream 4300 modem in bridge mode and a linksys WRT54G2 router set to PPPoE like I was instructed. On the status page of my router underneath the PPPoE setting it has IP, Subnet Mask, and Gateway all set to 0. The only advice I was able to obrain from my ISP was to powercycle the router and modem, which I did and no change.

I have Tversity media server running on a computer connected to the TWC, but my PS3 which is connected wirelessly to the TWC combo can't see Tversity. What am I missing? Do I need to forward some port from somewhere? FYI, I'm set-up this way so my N router can deliver full N speed, and my G devices connect to the slower TWC router. Everything sees the internet with no problem. Also, to note that devices connected to the D-link can see Tversity, but devices connected to the TWC cannot see Tversity

I am able to connect to my E4200 that is set as DHCP, but I cannot connect to the E4200 that is connected to that DHCP as Bridged.
How can I connect to that bridged E4200 because I want to upgrade the Firmware of the Bridged E4200?.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWe got a 1921 router that works fine. We ordered Verizon Businss One Static IP ADSL. It came with a Westell Modem that we configured in bridge mode. When we do a test by assigning a static IP to our laptop then hook it up to the Westell it works fine. We can browse the web. Then when we assign a static IP to the Ethernet on our 1921 then connect it to the Westell it doesn't work. We can't ping out from the router to for example 4.2.2.2. From the router we can't even ping the default gateway (on Verizon's side).

From there I have an ethernet cable attached to an AV receiver (Pioneer 1021k), but all to often now with this new router to use any of the features of the receiver ie Airplay, iOS app remote, I must restart the router EVERY time. This is frustrating because the these issues were never present with the netgear router.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to setup a remote PC over a wireless access Point/Bridge to our FIOS router. Pic of setup is shown below. Everything is connected, there are no errors or security warnings shown in the ActionTec MI424 router. The RemotePC IP shows up as an Active Ethernet client in the Router config app. Moreover, I can run the connectivity test from the router app to the RemotePC and it passes that, and I can PING from the RemotePC to the Router. Yet I cannot reach the Internet from a Browser on the RemotePC (192.168.1.75). I am using (2) DLINK DAP-1522 Access Point/Bridge units and they have worked as expected. I set the Router log to list any blocked IP traffic as well, and it does not show anything being blocked from the RemotePC (192.168.1.75). So why can't I reach the Internet from the RemotePC? Seems like a gateway problem or I need to make some config changes in the Router.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've set up PPPoE on my EA4500 router with a Vigor 120 modem in bridged mode and it says an internet connection is established, but the connection is extremely slow on all my devices. When I run the speed test within the EA4500 firmware it appears fine, but I cannot load any web pages on my laptop or other decives because the connection is so slow. The connection is slow with both wired and wireless connections. I've tried changing the MTU settings with no success. I've also tried using a different router and connecting the modem directly to my laptop and using PPPoE within the laptop and these both work fine, so I think it's clear there is a problem with the EA4500 router itself.
I'm just using the Vigor 120 to authenticate and connect to the internet itself, with the router in DHCP automatic configuration mode. I think this is causing a double NAT.
How can we know that 6500 and 7600 series switch and router are running in native mode or in hybrid mode.
