Cisco Routers :: RV110W QuickVPN Doesn't Work

Mar 10, 2013

I have a problem with my RV110W router. I would like to setup Quick VPN access. Manual is quite straightforward: enable management, create users, install client and that's all, should be working. But NOT. it does not work.

Remote Management is enabled on port 8080. Should it be changed to 443 as required for QVPN? Or it does not matter. Is it ok, to have management on 8080 and QVPN on 443?

I have tried to connect via QVPN Client ver. 1.4.1.2. Of course ip as well as user and pass has been changed. I tried to change management port to 443, but first:

1. i was not able to access management console at all

2. QVPN - still did not work

Cisco Routers :: RV110W And QuickVPN - Servers Certificate Doesn't Exist

Dec 19, 2011

After a day of troubleshooting I have finally got the QuickVPN client to work.  I connect however during the connection I get: "Server's certificate doesn't exist on your local computer.  Do you want to quit this connection?" I click no and it connects fine other than this error.  So how do I get rid of this error? Also I have exported the client certificate from the RV110 and put it in the quickvpn directory as I saw suggested elsewhere.

Here is my log:

Cisco Routers :: WRVS400n - QuickVPN Server's Certificate Doesn't Exist On Local Computer

May 7, 2012

I bought a new WRVS400n recently because it had Gigabit speed, wireless n and a built in VPN server.  The device works perfect except for the Quick VPN client.  I'm a system engineer so I thought I could set it up quite easy just like any other device I configured in the past.  Painfull but it isn't like this.

I set up the VPN on the WRVS4400n and generated a certificate.  I saved both the client and admin certificate to my pc, I gave them a name to easily make up the difference between both of them.  When placing the certificate in the installed QuickVPN folder, it doesn't seem to get recognised by the QuickVPN software. When I try to connect, it says 'Server's certificate doens't exist on your local computer'.  I guess the naming convention must meet some kind of format, is that correct?  If so, this should have been described in the documentation.

Besides that I checked if the required ports used by the VPN server are open on the public port of the device, that is the case.  So It seems I'm quite close to get it working.

The version of QuickVPN I used is 1.4.2.1.  The WRVS4400n has the latest firmware loaded.

Cisco Routers :: RV082 DNS Local Database Doesn't Work

Feb 25, 2012

I recently upgraded the firmware to 2.0.2.01-tm (from 2.0.0.19-tm). Now I noticed the RV082's local DNS server ("DNS Local Database" feature) does not work any more. Any URL-IPaddr combo I used to put in there was resolved prior to sending a request to the WAN's primary/secondary DNS server.  It isn't a PC problem. I tested on different real and virtual machines, windows and Linux. Is there new "enable" switch somwhere?

Cisco VPN :: RVS4000 / QuickVPN Certificate Doesn't Exist

Jul 26, 2011

I have created a VPN client account on my RVS4000 router. I have installed Quick VPN on my laptop in the default directory -- Program Files (x86) / Cisco Small Business / Quick VPN Client

I have generated and exported a certificate -- RVS4000_Client.pem -- and placed that in the  Program Files (x86) / Cisco Small Business / Quick VPN Client directory. When I attempt to connect using the Quick VPN client, I get the warning "Server's certificate doesn't exist on your local computer."

If I ignore the message I can log in, and ping resources inside the network and log into the router. However, I cannot mount any drives and the router shows that no VPN tunnels exist. I've read several posts here and elsewhere and can't seem to see where I've gone wrong.

Cisco Routers :: RV042 QuickVPN Not Working For All PCs

Oct 21, 2011

So have a RV042 VPN router that is directly connected to the ethernet port of our comcast cable modem.

If I connect to it using QuickVPN (1.4.2.1) from a PC that is connected using AT&T 3G Network it works fine!

If I connect to it using QuickVPN (1.4.2.1) from a different PC that is connected using home WiFi (linksys wrtxxx) then it fails. In the VPN log all I see is failure messages for ping.

2011/10/22 15:47:28 [WARNING]Failed to ping remote VPN Router!

If I open a regular command prompt and attempt to ping the VPN router it works so not understanding why the QuickVPN is unable to ping.

how I can troubleshoot this further. Makes me think the RV042 config is fine otherwise it would not work on a 3G connection. Something on the home PC or the home network. Not sure what to check.

I have been battling with my Cisco RV120W router and QuickVPN.Running Windows 7 Home PremiumPerformed a fresh install to factory out-of-box install for WindowsRemoved NortonDid NOT perform any windows updatesInstalled QuickVN version 1.2.4.1I have updated the firmware to the latest version (confirmed by cisco)I can connet to the router and have a stable connectionI can ping both the router IP and the shared file server IPWhen I enter the shared file server IP into the search field (e.g. \192.168.100.199) and press enter, I see a connection to "share", so I click on this and then see "FolderName" of my shared files. I click on this folder and I get a timed out error. When I enter the routers IP address into a browser (IE8 as factory installed) I get a timed out error also.In the past, I have installed all important and recommended updates for Windows and still get the same scenerioI have called cisco support and went through router settings, assigned them a VPN username, they log in and can access the files without issue (What the @#$$@#$)Cisco support spent plenty of time with me, but since they could access my network and since I could ping my devices, they had no other suggestions further.

I have this fresh factor out-of-box install. I know this is most likely something to do with my laptop that I am trying to use to connect to the network. I have Frontier as my ISP for home. I don't know if there is anything they are doing to interfere with my connection. I have tried to connect to the network via ComCast as well, with no luck.tell me if there is something I need to tweak in my Windows 7 settings?

I tried changing all settings I could find on this forum, but the result stays the same (changed port to 60443, deleted all IKE and VPN policies, allowed ping, disabled fragmented packets etc...). Cisco Routers :: RV110W Linksys Was Not Connected To PC At All

Feb 16, 2012

After nothing but hassles with my Linksys WAG120N, I bought a  Cisco RV110W. Yesterday, I tried setting it up with the Linksys being used only as a modem. I was unable to though because when I entered 192.168.1.1 into my browser as per the Cisco setup instructions, I was taken to the admin login for the Linksys. This seemed odd to me, because the Linksys was not connected to the PC at all. The connection setup was exactly as specified in the RV110W instructions: modem connected to dsl line,  ethernet cable from modem (Linksys WAG120N) to the slot marked "WAN" on the RV110W, another ethernet cable from RV110W to my PC. Despite this, the admin page was for the linksys not the cisco.

Today, I exchanged the WAG120N for a Netgear DM111P, just a modem, not a router. Same setup configuration: modem connected to dsl line,  ethernet cable from modem (NetgearDM111P) to the slot marked "WAN" on the RV110W, another ethernet cable from RV110W to my PC. Same result - type in 192.168.1.1 and get taken to the admin page for "Netgear DM111P" .

Cisco Routers :: RV110W - Can't Set A Gateway For VLANs

Feb 5, 2012

I'm having problems setting up VLANs on my RV110W Small Business Router. I have updated the firmware to the latest : 1.1.0.9 Here is my set up :

WAN settings :
IP : 192.168.1.252 / 255.255.255.0 - Gateway 192.168.1.254
 VLAN1 (default) :
IP : 192.168.2.254 / 255.255.255.0
 VLAN3 (test) :
IP : 192.168.16.254 / 255.255.255.0

Inter-VLAN routing option is checked.

Symptoms :

- The communication from VLAN1 to WAN is fine

- The communication from VLAN3 to VLAN1 is fine

- The communication from VLAN1 to VLAN3 is not working

My routing table is :Routing table Entry ListDestination LAN IPSubnet MaskGatewayInterface192.168.2.0255.255.255.0192.168.2.254LAN192.168.1.0255.255.255.0192.168.1.252WAN192.168.16.0255.255.255.00.0.0.0LAN0.0.0.00.0.0.0192.168.1.254WAN

As you can see, the gateway for VLAN3 is set to 0.0.0.0, which is wrong I believe. I don't know how to update that. I tried to add a a static route for the subnet, but the router did not let me do that.

Cisco Routers :: How To Setup RV110W Just To Act As Wi-Fi Hotspot

Mar 15, 2012

I've to setup RV110W router as a simple Wifi hotspot in a company network and this Wifi hotspot has to allow traffic to all internal LAN (very simple LAN with few workstation and one server) and also to Internet via our gateway. I know this product isn't really designed for that... but I've to do so. LAN is managed by Windows DHCP server and I've Internet acces through Firewall. I think I've to connect RV110W to the company LAN with the RV110W WAN interface. I want the Wifi IP address to be in the same IP range than the LAN to allow Wifi clients to access our internal server but RV110W doesn't accept this. Or do I've to ignore the WAN interface and deal with only the RV110W LAN interface?

Cisco Routers :: Pass Through PPTP On RV110W?

Jan 26, 2012

I have a pptp server on my network and am trying to configure my new RV110W so that I can tunnel through to it from outside.

I believe I must do port forwarding for TCP on port 1723 to get those packets going to my PPTP server. PPTP also uses GRE and I don't see that as an option anyware in port forwarding... Does that just work... as a matter of the VPN pass through checkbox being enabled ?

My netgear router would lock up every few days but it under the firewall configuration it had list of services that included PPTP and I just selected that, entered the IP addresses on the outside that I would accept, and the IP address on the inside that the PPTP clients would connect to, and it worked....

I'm thinking it is harder on this device because this device supports actually logging into it..  I am interested in learning more about that technique especially if it is more secure but the way I see it the firewall device can see all of my network and the pptp server I am using is on a file server and limited to those files shared on that server.
