Cisco Routers :: RV220w DNS Resolution Is Not Working Correctly

Sep 23, 2011

My RV220w has a problem with DNS.  I have configured the device for my network, but it seems as though DNS is not working correctly. For a background, I have a primarily Windows environment in my network, W7 PCs.  I use homegroup to share files/printers amongst them.  I like that I can type "\<server-name> in the Windows search box, and up comes the other computer's files.  This functionality is still there with the RV220w, so that's not my issue. My problem arises when attempting to type "<server-name>" into the Remote Desktop Connection dialog box.  I can no longer RDP to my other computers by name.  Attempting by IP does get me there.

Cisco Routers :: RV220 Host Name Resolution LAN / WLAN Stops Working?

Sep 11, 2011

I'm running a Windows Server 2008 R2 connected via cable to my RV220. The server is hosting several websites running in separate virtual machines. These websites are accessible through a reverse proxy set up on the 2008 R2. In addition the 2008 R2 provides access to storage over Windows file sharing (client backup, file sharing ...). Most of the clients are connected via wireless.My problem is that after some time (~24h) I lose the connection to the services provided by the 2008 R2 server as a result of (host) name resolution has stopped working. This only happens for wireless clients. Wired clients are not affected.To give more details: Network clients connected via wireless can't see clients connected via Ethernet and the network shares are not accessible anymore (even by putting in manually "\hostnameshare", but "\[IP address]share" still works). Being connected via Ethernet the communication between client and server works flawlessly - the server appears immediately on the network device list. The other way around is also not possible: the server can’t see clients connected via wireless. The reverse proxy is still accessible through wireless connection by putting in the IP address, e.g. "http://192.168.1.123/homepage" but "http://hostname/homepage" won't work.A restart of the router will fix things but only for the next couple of hours.

Cisco Routers :: RV042 Load Balance Not Working Correctly

Feb 8, 2012

We have an RV042 on firmware version 1.3.13.02 and 2 ISPs:

WAN1 = Telepacific T1
1.5Mbps down and 1.5Mbps up

WAN2 = AT&T U-Verse
12Mbps down and 5Mbps up

I have it set to Load Balance, Primary WAN = WAN2
Network Service Detection enabled, only pinging the Remote Host of 4.2.2.2 and set to Generate Log

Bandwidth is set to:
WAN1 = 1000Kbps upstream & downstream
WAN2 = 5040Kbps upstream & 12000Kbps downstream

It seems to pick WAN1 a lot of the time.  Do I have something setup wrong?

Cisco Routers :: RV220W Not Working With PPTP Server On One VLAN Only

May 5, 2012

I possess a RV220W (firmware 1.0.3.5) but I can't seem to work with the PPTP server on one VLAN only.

My default VLAN is in 192.168.1.1/24. I created a VLAN ID 10 in 192.168.50.1/24 inter-vlan routing : disabled and Device Management : disabled. (Menu Networking > LAN > VLAN Membership and Multiple VLAN Subnets).

Then I configured a PPTP server on the IP range 192.168.50.200 to 192.168.50.210.

To finish I created my user. (Menu VPN > IPSEC > VPN Users).

The PPTP tunnel is working, but on all my local network and not only the VLAN ID 10.

Cisco Routers :: DMZ Feature Of Small Business RV220W Not Working?

Dec 23, 2011

I have been trying to configure a local DMZ on our network with the Cisco Small Business RV220W router, running the latest 1.0.3.5 firmware but it doesn't seem to be fully functional? Does the DMZ feature actually do anything at the current state of this router? Because when I tried to DMZ host a computer on our local network I still had to manually port forward different applications in order for people to reach it from WAN.

For instance when trying to host a game session, utilizing TCP port 7777 it didn't matter whether I had enabled DMZ or not, I was still required to manually port forward the port to the DMZ IP-address.

Doesn't this defeat and eliminate the whole purpose of the DMZ feature in the first place?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 4948E DNS Resolution Not Working Using MgmtVrf

Jan 30, 2013

Using a 4948E switch with FastEthernet1 as the management interface which uses the VRF mgmtVrf. I cannot get DNS resolution to work for some reason.

I am using code enterprise 15.1-2.SG and here are the relevant config snippets:

ip domain-lookup source-interface FastEthernet1
ip domain-name domain.com
ip name-server 4.2.2.1

[Code].....

I read online there are some commands in a different code that support specifying the VRF along with the name servers, but I don't have those options. All I can do is set the source-interface on the domain-lookup command.

Cisco :: LMS 4.1 / Device Discovery Not Working Correctly

Jan 18, 2012

we are running CiscoPrime LMS 4.1 and I have the following problem.I have configured SNMP Settings as shown below (the order of the targets is exactly as it is configured on the server):As can be seen we use three different read community strings. I also have exluded a bunch of IP ranges and IPs from the filter settings. When I manually start discovery everything works fine, meaning that all devices in the above ranges that need to be discovered are discovered as "reachable". The problem appears in the scheduled discovery (happens once daily). In that case only the devices with Read Community snmp1, get discovered as "reachable". All other devices with Read community snmp2 & snmp3, as well as those that are excluded in the filter settings, are discovered as "unreachable".The discovery uses DCR as seed and seed devices are also configured.I also have a problem with PingSweep in the discovery, but I will open another discussion so that I don't complicate this one too much.

Wireless Internet Not Working Correctly

Jan 14, 2011

We have two laptop computers and our Tivo hooked up to use the wireless internet through our cable company with a Belkin router. Over Christmas we got a camera that emails directly from it, and it told us to press the WSP button on the Belkin router. The camera magically worked, however our computers did not work anymore! After an hour long phone call to Belkin, I got one of my computers to work normally again. However the 2nd laptop won't connect to the internet and our tivo isn't picking it up either, which mean our shows are not recording.

Also, I'm using two apple computers. When I attempt to hook up the airport network, it says "unable to join the network."

Virtual Wifi - Ics No Longer Working Correctly

Mar 27, 2011

I use the Windows7 Virutal WIFI when traveling abroad to give my Iphone an internet connection in my hotel.I've had zero issues until this week. The WIFI connection is still showing up on my iphone, but I no longer get internet access (I only get an IP and subnet on the iphone now, no router or DNS info). The issue began (coincidence or not) as my MagicJack downloaded and installed a software update. MagicJack support says they aren't the issue. I experimented with created an Ad-Hoc network...no change. I've removed and reinstalled the wireless card and driver. No change. I suspect some corruption with ICS, but haven't found any solutions online to fix it.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3750 - New Switch Not Working Correctly

Jan 30, 2012

I have a Catalyst 3750 switch configured in a network. I would like an additional 3750 switch as a "hot" standby. A 2nd 3750 switch was purchased, and the same configuration was entered in to the new switch, so I have 2 switches with the exact same configuration.

When I move the connections to the new switch, I have a few VLANs that do not come up. One VLAN does come up and work normally. The VLANs in question show down, protocol down, and a show ip route reveals routes to the networks on these VLANs are not there When I put everything back on the original switch, everything works normally.

Why would the new switch not work with the exact same configuration?

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA6500 Device List Not Working Correctly

Feb 19, 2013

Since a couple of weeks I have a linksys EA6500. When I go to the device list to see which devices are online the device list is not displayig the correct data. I see devices online that are offline and also devices are offline that are at the moment online. When I try to delete a device that is offline in the list I get error 2315. I have that error in the local and cloud interface. The list has a frozen state from a particular moment.

When I reboot the router then all devices in the list have status offline and the device list stays that way. Nothing gets online anymore or will be added. When I reset the router to factory default all keeps working without problems for approximately 24 hours and after that the problem occurs again. The list freezes again and you are not able to delete a device.

I searched the forums but no one has this problem. I only can find a post that describes my problem but for them a reset worked. In my case a factory reset works also but the problem keeps coming back.

Cisco Routers :: Static IPs Behind RV220W

Jul 3, 2012

Picked up a pair of RV220W's for a project I'm working on.  I have several IP's available, 4 of which are assigned to/in use by a server behind the RV220W.  All 4 of these IP's are static external IPs.  How I can configure the RV220W so that requests to those 4 IP's get routed to the server.

Prior to purchasing this, I was under the impression what I was trying to do was called one-to-one NAT, but after reading the 'Help' document on the one-to-one NAT page, I don't think this is right.  Emphasis added below: Cisco RV220W Wireless-N Network Security Firewall Help FirewallOne-to-One NATOne-to-one NAT is a way to make systems behind a firewall and configured with private IP addresses appear to have public IP addresses.One-to-One-NAT Rule TableThis table lists the list of available One-To-One NAT rules configured by the user. Private Range Begin: start ip address in private (LAN) ip addressPublic Range Begin: start ip address in the public ip address (WAN IP), Public IP Subnet Mask: The Subnet Mask of the public IPRange Length: Range length maps one to one private address to public address up to the given range.Service: This column shows service to be accepted by LAN Host.The actions that can be taken on One-to-One-NAT rules are:(Check Box At First Column Header): Selects all the entries in the table.Add: Opens the One-To-One NAT Configuration page, to add a new entry. Edit: Opens the One-To-One NAT Configuration page, to edit the selected entry.Delete: Deletes the selected entries.

So according to their documentation, the server in question would need to be configured with a private IP.  Unfortunately, one of the applications I use is licensed via IP address and my understanding is that I cannot use the software with private/non-routable IP addresses.

Is the RV220W capable of not only securing the line (firewall, access rules, content filtering, port trigering & forwarding etc) but also doing what I was hoping to do (keeping the external IP's on the server, and routing appropriately)?

Cisco Routers :: RV220W Won't Allow Web Access Across VPN

Cisco Routers :: Associate Name To IP - RV220W

Nov 27, 2011

Is there anyway to associate a name to an IP in the RV220W?  I am coming from a WRVS4400N v2.  Folks are complaining that they can't connect, for example via Real VNC, via the PC name any longer.  They have to use the IP address.  In the past I put the names of the PCs in the WRVS4400N when I reserved IPs via MAC addresses (some call this assigning static IPs).  There isn't any place in the RV220W to put the name.  Even when I look at the DHCP list a lot of them show up as "unknown".  I am sure this is a NETBIOS thing but I'd rather fix this in the router as I have always done in the past.
