Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3750 - New Switch Not Working Correctly
Jan 30, 2012I have a Catalyst 3750 switch configured in a network. I would like an additional 3750 switch as a "hot" standby. A 2nd 3750 switch was purchased, and the same configuration was entered in to the new switch, so I have 2 switches with the exact same configuration.
When I move the connections to the new switch, I have a few VLANs that do not come up. One VLAN does come up and work normally. The VLANs in question show down, protocol down, and a show ip route reveals routes to the networks on these VLANs are not there When I put everything back on the original switch, everything works normally.
Why would the new switch not work with the exact same configuration?

Feb 26, 2012I have 2 6513's between floors that have a port channel between them using 2 10 gig interfaces on 6704 cardsThis weekend I lost the port channel for about 4 mins and then it came back up. Unfort at the time I had logging turned off so was unable to get any info as to why. But I turned on debugging that eve and this morn it happened again.
Looks like Mod 9 is being power recycled, 6704 is about a year old and had been running for a month or so without issue.The only thing I have upgraded in the last few weeks was I put in a pair of 6000w supplies..But I am not having any other issuesother than mod 9. In hind sight a better design would be to spread this port channel across 10 gig cards. I'll work on that next.

Now I want to add a static route to go out that interface.when I add: ip route 10.x.x.x 255.255.255.0 10.52.10.1
it eccepts it (no errors) But, it does not show in the routing table nor in the config? How to add the static route to go out that vlan interface.

Sep 3, 2012I am working on Multicast scenario, There is one 6513E switch one 2960 switch. Two VRF's are configured in core switch (6513) IPTV-SRV and Villa-VRF IPTV-SRV vrf has IPTV server and Villa-VRF has IPTV i.e. client.
V LAN 30 is mapped to IPTV-SRV vrf with subnet address 192.168.30.0/24
V LAN 12 is mapped to Villa-VRF with sub net address 192.168.12.0/24
I did the following configuration for VRF but its not working . i am not an expert in multicast design but seems i did most of the configs.

Jun 18, 2012I have a supervisor blade, (VS-S720-10G-3C), in a 6513 that is faulty and needs replaced. Do I need to replace the IOS on the new supervisor blade to make sure it is the same as the IOS image that is on the Active supervisor module, or will it synchronize automatically?
In the synchronization process, the active supervisor engine checks the standby supervisor engine run-time image to make sure that it matches its own run-time image. The active supervisor engine checks three conditions:

•If it needs to copy its boot image to the standby supervisor engine
#
•If the standby supervisor engine bootstring needs to be changed
#
•If the standby supervisor engine needs to be reset
I was reading the above documentation that mentioned the active supervisor should copy the image if it detects a newly installed standby supervisor blade with a different image, is this correct or was it referring to synchronizing the configuration file?

Oct 29, 2012we have a chassis 6513-E and a module WS-X6748-GE-TX, I'd like to know if could I put this module in any slot, since the documentation from Cisco says that any slot from a chassis 6500-E Series can support this module. And then in the documentation of WS-X6748-GE-TX says that this module is not compatible in the slots 1-8 of the 6513 chassis, only from 9th to 13th slots, in those slots from the 6513-E we already have 4x WS-X6748-GE-TX, and we'd like to know if could we put the module in the rest of the slots. The 6513, and 6513-E is kind of confusing.

Dec 7, 2011We have two 6509 switches with one WS-X6704-10GE module in each of them. There is an optical cable between the two switches plugged in WS-X6704-10GE module on both sides. When you shut down the port on one side the other port still stays as up and you need phisycally to unplug the cable to have it down. The same behaviour is seen no matter on which of the two switches you shut down the port, the opposite one always stays as up and only removal of the cable makes it go down.
The ports are configured quite simply:

May 21, 2013I have a Cisco SG 300-20 as the core switch, layer 3. It is 192.168.4.6 on VLAN1 and 192.168.5.1 for VLAN2 (VOIP). All the ports are set in trunk mode. DHCP relay is setup on this switch.
The phones connected into a layer 2, Catalyst 2960-S switch. All ports are set in trunk mode. Default gateway on it is set to 192.168.5.1.
DHCP for both VLANs is provided by a Windows Server 2008 R2 server (the relay IP 192.168.4.15).
There is also an ASA 5510 in the mix which is 192.168.4.1. It has a route added to it for the 192.168.5.0 network to go to the SG 300 (192.168.5.1).
Just the two switches can ping each other on the 192.168.5.x network when I "add vlan 2" to the trunk port that is connected between the SG 300 and the 2960. The phones don't get DHCP on the 2960 switch. And I cannot ping 192.168.5.x from the ASA or anything else on the 192.168.4.x network.
After a bit of reading on intra-vlan routing for the SG 300 switch, I am thinking the SG 300 has to be the "center" of things so I need to make it 192.168.4.1 to be the gateway for both VLANs and change the ASA to 192.168.4.2 for VLAN1, etc. And I really can't do asymmetric routing with this switch.

Sep 11, 2012I have two Core 6509E SUP2T configued as VSS and has two 48 ports fiber blades. I have two 3750s, I have two gig on each 3750 port-channle to po1 and connected to both the core, one link to each core.Now, I was asked ot add two more links on each 3750 switch to make it a total of 4 gigs on each 3750s (all 4 gig ports/uplinks will be in used an dtwo links to core one an dtwo links to core 2).when i added two additional links on 3750s and bundled them to po1, I created another port channel on core and bundeled the additional two gigs on each core to accomodate for the two additional links (ports on core switches are not consequtives).
adding these two additional ports makes the 3750 switches flap between managemnet vlan and po1.now, i am not sure if I must have added the two additional links on the core to teh current port-channel or core!? I have created another port-channel on core to accomodate for this currently!?
Network Card Not Sitting In PCI Slot Correctly?
Feb 10, 2012Just finished my first build and everything went pretty smoothly but my wireless network card wasn't working. I noticed after I opened it back up that in order for my to screw the card in place it made the right side of the card tilt up.
So I just set it in the PCI slot correctly but there's no way for me to screw the card in place. I know my MOBO is set properly. My graphics card fits perfectly.

Oct 11, 2010Any way to test in a lab what would happen if a tech mistakingly added "switchport voice vlan XX" to a trunk port? I am try to do some RCA on an issue and this has been identified as a possible cause by one of my techs.
The config is Switch1------Switch2--------Switch3 Each interswitch connection is configured as a dot1q trunk with all vlans allowed. The link between switch2 and 3 is where switchport voice vlan 10 was added. Switch1 is a 3750 and 2/3 are 3560's.

Aug 28, 2012 VLAN MAC address filter does not seem to be working on my 4900 switch. However the same config works fine when tested on my 3750 & 3560 switches.
Since user from different VLANs requires to be blocked, Unicast MAC address filter will not be feasible solution. VACL did not work on my 4506 switch too. K

Sep 9, 2012We have a 3750X VTP Server and the rest of the switches are clients.
Due to cabling issues, we have a switch (Switch F) that we can't connect directly to the 3750X so we have it connected through another switch. Everything is set to VTP client with the correct domain and password but this not-directly-connected switch isn't receiving any VTP VLANs.
Anything I need to do on Switch D so that Switch F can receive the VTP updates?
