i have a Cisco 6513 it is used one, i have tryed to boot it but it did not work, it alwayes go to rommon mode and i am not able to know what is the issue,

i have recently tried to change the catos on a Catalyst 2948G-L3 and since then i have the following message in a loop :I know that the solution would be to download a new valid image from tftp via the rommon prompt but what i dont undertand is why i cant access the rommon prompt. The problem is the switches interface never comes up so try to connect to the tftp server. I read on google it can't be done on a switch to copy from tftp to flash in rommon mode on a switch and to use XMODEM. My problem is I do not have access to it, I ssh into a 3640 which is an access server for all devices and that is how I have console to it, how to use XMODEM over ssh.
But I'm fairly certain that there has to be a way to just copy it from tftp? I have a 3550 local and when I put it in rommon mode it stops the port check at port, port 1 goes from green when you plug it in to off then port 2 changes to amber and the rest green. So just by the look of this I would believe tftp would work; you just need to use port 1.
We have Communication Media Module (WS-SVC-CMM) mounted on 6513 switch. It went down twice and we brought it up by applying "power enable module".

I am working on Multicast scenario, There is one 6513E switch one 2960 switch. Two VRF's are configured in core switch (6513) IPTV-SRV and Villa-VRF IPTV-SRV vrf has IPTV server and Villa-VRF has IPTV i.e. client.
V LAN 30 is mapped to IPTV-SRV vrf with subnet address 192.168.30.0/24
V LAN 12 is mapped to Villa-VRF with sub net address 192.168.12.0/24
I did the following configuration for VRF but its not working . i am not an expert in multicast design but seems i did most of the configs.

I have a supervisor blade, (VS-S720-10G-3C), in a 6513 that is faulty and needs replaced. Do I need to replace the IOS on the new supervisor blade to make sure it is the same as the IOS image that is on the Active supervisor module, or will it synchronize automatically?

I was reading the above documentation that mentioned the active supervisor should copy the image if it detects a newly installed standby supervisor blade with a different image, is this correct or was it referring to synchronizing the configuration file?
we have a chassis 6513-E and a module WS-X6748-GE-TX, I'd like to know if could I put this module in any slot, since the documentation from Cisco says that any slot from a chassis 6500-E Series can support this module. And then in the documentation of WS-X6748-GE-TX says that this module is not compatible in the slots 1-8 of the 6513 chassis, only from 9th to 13th slots, in those slots from the 6513-E we already have 4x WS-X6748-GE-TX, and we'd like to know if could we put the module in the rest of the slots. The 6513, and 6513-E is kind of confusing.

I tried to upgrade IOS from SXI2a to SXI9 in cat 6506 VSS. But the problem is that switch always boot with old IOS. I put the new IOS in sup-bootdisk and slave sup-bootdisk, bootvar is ok with new IOS: [code] Show bootvar is ok but switch always boot with old IOS SXI2a, some bug in IOS sxi2a???, I will try to delete de old IOS from sup bootdisk and try with the new one only.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI encountered an issue while trying to boot Catalys WS-C4948-S switch. I power on the switch and I'm able to see the boot messages thourgh serial console cable. But it gets stuck at line "Image text-base: 0x1000000, data-base: ..... ". Also I can enter into rommon mode. I tried to use different kinds of IOS images, tried to boot from tftp but with no luck, the issue is the same.
There are no erros on the screen, it just gets stuck when it enters into IOS, so I don't see the IOS prompt.
We have Cisco 4503-E switch and software version is cat4500e-universal.SPA.03.01.01.SG.150-1.xo1.bin. Now i have uploaded cat4500e-universal.SPA.03.02.01.SG.150-2.SG1.bin IOS-XE software in the switch and want to boot the switch from this image.
View 17 Replies View RelatedI was trying to configure an SF 300-24 for use in my home and obviously did something dumb. It was working fine. The f/w was updated and I had configured 2 VLANs. VLAN2 was ports 1-6+GE1 for IPTV streaming and VLAN3 was ports 7-24+GE2 and GE3 for the rest of my LAN. I was plugged into GE4 and was configuring the switch with a laptop. GE4 was the only port still on the default VLAN1. I chaged the default VLAN to VLAN3, which forced a reboot and the switch never came back up. I can't access to GUI using it's static IP or it's default IP on any port and the console never reaches the point where I can log in. The System light is flashing green but the boot sequence never progresses past what's in the screen shot. I tried to do a hard reset using the recessed button on the front panel but it does not seem to have any effect, no matter how long I hold it down.

How to access the memory on the wism to delete the old boot image?
I have a Cat6506. There were 2 Sup 720 in it for redundancy. They told me they had problems with this thing in the past needing to go out and reboot the machine. I need to go out periodically because it goes into ROMMON. I type boot and it comes back up. One time though neither one would reboot. I had to take a third one out there and reconfigure it. Now it is starting to do the same thing. One thing I did notice is they never connected it to an UPS. It is plugged strait into the wall with power going to two outlets. I am beginning to think there are spikes in the power occurring and this is sending it into ROMMON.

A working 3560EStartup LED information. If I compare a working switch with the faulty switch I can see about 18 seconds into bootingSYST change very fast from green to amber and continues with booting,this doesnt happened on the faulty switch (solid green 18 seconds). Pushing MODE button, doesn't get me in to ROMmon, this works for all the other switches.On a normal 3560 it takes around 40 seconds before I get in to ROMmon. With this faulty switch it stops after 18 seconds(solid green) and it doesnt respond.
Could not find a valid file in BOOT environment variable. BOOT variable can be set from IOS. To find currently setRom Monitor variables, type 'set' command.

I'm currently pursuing to take my CCNA and am currently studying for it, but have recently encountered a problem with one of my 1760 routers that I can not solve.Yesterday I went to boot up my router like normal, however when I went into hyperterminal I noticed the router was in Rommon mode. Thinking I could change the configuration registry, I tried to bypass the NVRAM by using confreg 0x2142. However this still causes the router to go into Rommon mode. I am getting an error that states that there is insufficient memory to load the IOS image. [code]
I have used the dir flash: command and can see the IOS image, and try to boot from it (boot flash:iosimagename) but it will still go back into rommon mode. I also just swapped the RAM from my other 1760 into this 1760 and it booted up and went into normal configuraiton mode without any issues. However, the other router now will not load it's IOS image and I get the exact same error.I'm at a loss here, and have searched to figure out where or how I can just wipe the router clean to try and start fresh, but cannot get out or Rommon mode. The only thing I can think of is that the RAM went bad since it wont boot up either machine.
I have an issue with a customers 6503 with Sup-2T cards, where we are locked out of the console due to an authentication configuration error. So tried several times to get the card into rommon, with no success.
Checking through the various documents on CCO I dont find any reference to rommon on this card, but do find information on using the CMP to support the supervisor. I logged into the CMP but couldn't find a way from there to do a password reccovery either.So, is the `normal' IOS rommon/password recovery method supported.
I am facing a problem with a cisco 6509 that goes into rommon every time i restart. If i give the command
rommon 1> boot
it will pick up the IOS on the sup-bootdisk: or bootdisk: and boots up but i dont understand why on reboot it wont pick up this IOS and boot itself and why do i have to write boot command everytime on rommon.
I have also explicitly given the command "boot system bootdisk:IOSNAME.bin" in the startup config file but still no luck.

Well I have been back and forth on this a while now...I have a 6513E chassis that is getting prepped for prod. I am currently testing sso functionality and I can only get it to work using the following images on both Sup Cards.
s72033-adventerprise_wan-mz.122-33.SXI5.bin
If I try any other image, smaller or bigger in size...it forces my Sup card in mod 8 to recycle " proxy request from peer ". I have tried K9 images and non K9 images. Here is an output from sh redundancy.

I have 6509 E. Actually what happen it last 3-4 times it reload its self and got stuck in rommon mode, i tried to boot it with boot by connecting a console cable on supervisor 720 2b. What and where is problem and why is stuck in rommon after reload.
