Cisco Routers :: Two RV082s VPN Won't Automatically Connect
Feb 19, 2013
I have two RV082's connected across the internets using the primary WAN ports. They are both set to Auto Load Balance. Both ends of the VPN are set to "IP Only, IP by DNS Resolved".
If I attempt to access the remote subnet, the VPN won't automatically initiate a connection. However, if I do a "Tunnel Test" connection on both routers, then the remote subnet access works just fine.
Should the router automatically connect the VPN when a remote subnet is attempted? If so, what might I do to make it connect automatically?
I have a cisco RV180W with a IPsec tunnel to the head office. The tunnel is working good, but if I reboot the RV180W, the tunnel don’t reconnect automatically, I need to go in the admin interface to IPsec Connections Status and press on Connect. Is there a way to make the tunnel connect automatically?
How do I get one of these to automatically bring up the VPN tunnel without the end user having to login and click connect? I got the VPN working Dynamic to ASA static, but it doesnt come up on its own when I try to access something over VPN.
I am setting up a dual WAN network in our small business office and I am confussed on the set up of the RV042.
On WAN1 I have a satellite modem connected
On WAN2 I have a cradlepoint CTR35 Router with a verizon aircard
The satellite has lag issues and will drop out during poor weather but has a 17GB dowload limit. The verizon aircard has only 5GB download limit but normally works in poor weather. Code...
Do I select obtain DNS automatically on both WAN1 and 2? Do I set this up as a gateway or a router?
I purchased 2 RV042's (h/w version 3) less than two months ago. I updated them to the latest firmware (v4.0.4.02-tm (Jul 4 2011 13:30:56)), did a factory reset to make sure I was working with a clean slate, set up DDNS through DynDNS and a site to site VPN between the two. Everything was working great for a month, then the DynDNS accounts expired because they weren't being updated. I reactivated the names on the DynDNS site, and started to monitor the "last updated" date and time. After 24 hours there were no updates according to the DynDNS site. I logged into one of the RV042's, and it said "Dyndns Enabled : Dynamic DNS is updated successfully." This is a stale message from 24 hours ago when I hit save. So I went into Setup | Dynamic DNS | Edit Config and there it also says "Dynamic DNS is updated successfully." I clicked "Save", status changed to " Dyndns Enabled : Updating..." for a few seconds, and then back to "Dyndns Enabled : Dynamic DNS is updated successfully". I refreshed the DynDNS website and it shows the current time (in eastern time, i'm pacfic) as the last time it was updated. So it works when I manually hit the "Save" button. Not making any changed, just hitting "Save". I've let the other RV042 go over 48 hours and it still hasn't updated. So it apears for the time being, I'll have to remember to push the "Save" button once a week to prevent my DynDNS accout from expiring. Does DDNS working in the lastest firmware and h/w version 3? If so, what is the update frequency?

Why doesn't my PC automatically log into my wireless network when I turn it on,it try's to use a BT hotspot which is nothing to do with me so I have to manually select my network and log into it.How on earth do I stop this happening?
I have 2 wireless dvd players. In the past they automatically connected to the network on startup.I was making adjustments on the netgear wndr3700 router while experimenting with some cameras. Now I need to use the WPS option on the dvd player and then run to the router and push the WPS button.hen it connects.
Every time I restart my computer, it unchecks the "connect automatically" box. I have to manually connect to my wifi. I go in and check the box agian just to have it uncheck next time I boot up. My wife has the same laptop that I do and hers doesn't do this. I'm guessing it must be a setting somewhere?
how to connect Hotspot shield automatically on startup of Windows xp By checking the option to show on startup it starts on the tray but doesn't connect Is there a command line or something to do to connect it automatically ?
Ive got a wireless router and until just recently my desktop was able to connect to my network automatically. I went into network settings and made sure the "connect automatically" was checked but it did nothing. I have to manually go in and connect every time even though it recognizes that there is a network to connect to.
I have created individual folders for the different users on the network domain server, but i am having trouble allowing the client to automatically connect to their personal folder.

i bought the TL-WR841N a week back. the problem is that the internet connection has a web based login( wherin i have to go the "login.hathway.com" and enter a username and password provided by the service provider). i was wondering if there is anything i can do so that the wifi router on its own can log on to my account automatically every time i connect a device to the router. This would save alot of time for me.

I have a TL-WR740N. If router is on and I turn on my laptop it will not automatically connect to the router. I must turn off the router and then turn on again to get connection to the Laptop. I think I have missed something in configuration of the Laptop.
So my AE1000 adapter doesn't connect to my network after waking my computer up from standby mode. I tried disabling the power management option where it allows you to turn off the device to save power but it still won't automatically connect to my network. I have to manually remove the adapter from the usb port and plug it back it for it to work again. I'm using Windows 7 64 bit,the latest drivers from Cisco's website, and my anti virus program is Microsoft Security Essentials
I am using Scientific Linux 6.2 (Variant of RHEL / CentOS) . Every day at a particular time there is a power outage at my place, and after 1 hour power is restored. My laptop is connected to a network switch, that has no Backup power, and connection is disconnected when power is gone. Laptop keeps running in battery power.
Now when power is restored, the ethernet connection (eth0) is not automatically restored in linux. It only says connection available under wired connection. The same thing happens to the Wireless Network Connections. What can I do to automatically connect to these networks, whenever they are available?
I'm using Fedora 15, in GNOME Shell, my mobile broadband connection was working absolutely fine, until I set the connection type to Connect Automatically using nm-connection-manager. Now, when I start the Fedora, the Top panel network icon shows red exclamation symbol and when I click it, instead of showing me available networks' list, it shows only "Network Settings", and when I open it, it shows GNOME 3's new Network Manager app, and it pops out the dialog saying that, "Current network settings service is incompatible with this version". And after a few seconds of log in, the shell freezes and all I can do is log out using Ctrl+Alt+BackSpace.
I'm facing this problem since I opened old network manager app using nm-connection-manager in the run dialog, and editing my connection to connect automatically.
After logging in to the shell I somehow managed to delete that connection from the same app and created a new one, but the problem still exists. How can I delete all network preferences (by deleting its configuration files from my home directory or something like that) and reset the GNOME 3's network manager to its default state?
When ever I open the lid to the laptop it takes 5-10 mins before it will automatically connect to a network. Diagnose this network does not find anything, nor provides any troubleshooting. Typically if I open the network connections center and disable the wireless, let it sit for 30 secs or so, and re-enable, it will finally connect.
I know it's not my router, as the laptop does the same thing at work, and multiple different friends house.
I've confirmed that DHCP is set to automatic connect. I've also checked Device Manager/Network adapters/ and unchecked the box "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
My WRT54G2 v1 does not automatically connect to the internet on computer start-up. The computer will say "Connected, No Internet Access" In order to fix it I have to unplug the router and then plug it back in. This happens to any computer that tries to get online from a cold start-up. The router must always be unplugged, then plugged back in, then it will have internet access (and will generally maintain it throughout the session and even if the computer is restarted, i.e. warm boot). I have downloaded the latest firmware uprade.
How do i connect two internet routers to one IP address range?I currently have one broadband router connected on 172.16.0.3 subnet 255.255.0.0, I have a second line which is a copper ethernet EFM 2Mb line connected using a Cisco 1800 router configured on 172.16.0.254 subnet 255.255.255.0, no DHCP is configured on either router. the dhcp is provided by a windows 2003 server on our LAN which is also configured on the same LAN IP range. if i connect the Cisco router into the same switch as the broadband router my network devices stop working and dont respond.
If i check the broadband router it shows all the connections to it as having the same MAC address as the Cisco router?? if i disconnect the Cisco router everything returns back to normal and works perfectly. What I want to achieve is to be able to run both routers on the same LAN to provide internet access by configuring the pc's to route through a specific router. the DHCP I want to stay routed through my original broadband line. at the same time i want all pc's to access to the lan devices (ie. servers and printers) what the correct configuration would be for the two internet routers would be?
I am trying to connect 2 wireless routers to expand my wireless signal. I want to connect the router 1 (in 2d floor) to a powerline av and then get the router 2 to the powerline (in the ground floor) so i can have wireless there too. I've tried some configurations i found online, but can't get to make the network functioning. The routers and powerline av are all dlink. I don't mind having 2 networks, but it would be better to have only one
I have a laptop connected to a net gear wireless router (for internet), but I am very close to buying a Belkin network USB hub to make my hard drive wireless, but this requires a router. I do not want move my hard drive to where my net gear router is, so I need to get another router, i am looking at a Belkin router so that I can make my hard drive wireless (This is the only reason for the router, it will not be used for internet) so I can keep my hard drive in the same place.

is it possible that a public IP can be automatically routed to another public ip.For example I have two routers A and B. router B has a LanB in 10.0.0.0 network and the public ips are in the x.x.x.0 for internet access. router A is located at a remote location and has a public ip of y.y.y.0 network.
