Cisco Security :: ASA 5505 / HTTPS From Vpn Client To Internet Host Through Tunnel Ipsec-spoof?
Jan 17, 2013
we have a cisco ASA 5505 and are trying to get the following working:
vpn client (ip 192.168.75.5) - connected to Cisco ASA 5505
the client gets a specific route for an internet address (79.143.218.35 255.255.255.255 192.168.75.1 192.168.75.5 100) when i try to access the url from the client i get a syn sent with netstat when i try the packet tracer from the ASA i see the following:
How can I configure an ASA 5505 NEM client to allow access to the Internet when the tunnel to the headend is down? I am planning on deploying back to back ASA 5505s in network extension mode but I do not want to block Internet access on the client side if the tunnel to the server should go down.
I have created a site to site VPN between two networks. the 192.168.1.0 and the 10.0.0.0.What I want is the 10 to connect via ftp to 192.The VPN is working well, I can ping etc but when the 10 is trying to connect to the 192 it get a connection refused. The same if he tries to telnet to port 21.
It's a passive ftp that uses the ports 20,21 for connection and data and the range from 12000 to 12100 for the passive mode.I have added a rule in the access list for these ports to allow the traffic between those two ip addresses. The 192 can successfully connect via ftp to the 10.
The problem is not on the server config because it has a public interface too and you can succesfully login from there. So the problem must be on the Cisco in front of the 192. For a reason I don't know it blocks the traffic.I did a packet trace on the ASDM and I got an IPSEC spoof detected.
how to setup a both ends of an IPSEC VPN tunnel using a software client such as shrewsoft vpn and an 800 series router?
I've tried following the instructions on cisco's site, but I don't really understand which interface I should use? Dialer, VLAN1 or UnNumbered to a Loopback?
I'm OK with most basic features of the router, but never had any luck with VPNs?
I have configured a lab for RA VPNs with a ASA5510 software version 8.2 and VPN Client 5 using digital certificates with Microsoft CA on a Windows 2003 server. I did the configuration based on this document from Cisco website: URL
Now the vpn works just fine, but now I need to configure different tunnel-groups so I can provide different services to different users. The problem I have now is that I don't know how to configure it so the certificate matches the tunnel-group name. If i do a debug crypto isakmp on ASA I get this error messages:
%ASA-7-713906: IP = 165.98.139.12, Trying to find group via OU...%ASA-3-713020: IP = 165.98.139.12, No Group found by matching OU(s) from ID payload: Unknown%ASA-7-713906: IP = 165.98.139.12, Trying to find group via IKE ID...%ASA-3-713020: IP = 165.98.139.12, No Group found by matching OU(s) from ID payload: Unknown%ASA-7-713906: IP = 165.98.139.12, Trying to find group via IP ADDR...%ASA-7-713906: IP = 165.98.139.12, Trying to find group via default group...%ASA-7-713906: IP = 165.98.139.12, Connection landed on tunnel_group DefaultRAGroup
So basically when using certificates I always connect the RA VPN only with the default group DefaultRAGroup. Do I need to use a different web enrollment template for certificate request instead of the user template??? How can I define the OU on the User certificate so it matches the tunnel-group???
I´m getting a dynamic public IP from my provider and what I´m trying to do is to establish a remote vpn tunnnel using IPSec which I achieve but every time the sessions resets or the ASA 5505 resets I get a new public IP and I need to put the new IP on the remote client so I can establish the vpn... How can I establish an ipsec vpn using DNS? For this scenario the remote vpn client is a vpn phone but it could be for any vpn client.
Private IP Public IP Private IP PBX ---- (LAN) ---- ASA 5505 ---( Internet ) --- Remote Site ( Router ) --- (LAN) -- VPN Phone
I have a site to site IPSec tunnel setup and operational but periodically the remote site goes down, because of a somewhat reliable internet connection. The only way to get the tunnel to re-establish is to go to the remote site and simply issue a ping from a workstation on the remote network. We were having this same issue with a Cisco PIX 506E but decided to upgrade the hardware and see if that resolve the issue. It ran for well over a year and our assumtions was that the issue was resolved. I was looking in the direction of the security-association lifetime but if we power cycle the unit, I would expect that it would kill the SA but even after power cycling, the VPN does not come up automatically.
I configured an IPSec VPN tunnel between two ASA 5505 firewalls. I would like to make sure that the IPSec tunnel (hence the security association) is permanent and do not drop due to idle condition.
I have a Site to Site IPSEC VPN Tunnel created with ASDM wizard.
Cisco ASA-5505 Peer A: x.x.x.x Lan A: 192.168.0.0 255.255.255.0 Fortinet FortiGate-50b Peer B: y.y.y.y Lan B: 192.168.23.0 255.255.255.0
I start traffic from LAN B with a ping (or telnet it doesn't matter) that receive no reply but tunnel goes up fine.
"show isakmp sa" seems ok (says "State : MM_ACTIVE") "show ipsec sa" seems ok but all #pkts are zero
try ftp, telnet from LAN B to LAN A systems but no one work. "show ipsec sa" all #pkts are zero As soon as I generate traffic from LAN A to LAN B these works (with tunnel already up) also traffic from LAN B to LAN A works.Obviously if I end VPN and start tunnel making traffic from LAN A all work fine bidirectionally, LAN A reach LAN B and LAN B reach LAN A.No msg logged in either two appliance.
Seems a very strange problem because seems not related to Phase1 or Phase2 already established.Traffic (routing ?) start works only after at least one packet goes from LAN A to LAN B.No msg logged in either two appliance.Problems begun in ASA version 8.0(4) ASDM version 6.1(3) and remain/continue after upgrade to ASA Version 8.4(1) ASDM version 6.4(1).
I have 2 ipsec tunnel active on ASA5505 (secplus license).I would like to activate sslvpn also. Is it possible or there are issues in keeping active both services?
I currently have two Cisco ASA 5505. They are at different physical sites (SITE A, SITE B) and are configured with a site-to-site VPN which is active and working.
I can communicate with the subnets on either site from the other and both are connected to the internet, however I need to ensure that all the traffic at my site B goes through this VPN to my site A.
I changed this access-list : access-list outside_2_cryptomap extended permit ip network_siteB network_siteA to access-list outside_2_cryptomap extended permit ip network_siteB any
But this does not work. If I do [URL], site B IP address is not same that site A.
I am trying to set up a LAN-to-LAN VPN tunnel between two sites. One site has a 5505, and the other site has a 5510. It looks like the tunnel is being established fine (both ISAKMP and IPSEC SAs look OK), but traffic doesn't appear to be routing across the internet between the devices. [code]
My employees connects with a cisco ipsec vpn client to asa1,They can connect the network 192.168.1.0/24 from the employee location.(192.168.3.10 - 192.168.3.15) ip pool. Some people must also have a connection to the 192.168. 2.0/ 24, is it possible when they connect to asa1 with the ipsec vpnclient and that the 192.168.2.0/24 network also is avaible.
Got some issues when setting up IPSEC/VPN on the asa 5505. I want to connect from the ipad with the built in IPSec client..Get these errors when i run the debug crypto isakmp.
I have difficulties with configuring Remote IPSec VPN with Cisco ASA 5505 and Windows 7 native VPN client. My client PC gets VPN pool IP address, and can access remote network behind ASA, but then I lose my internet connectivity. I have read that this should be an issue with split tunneling, but I did as it is told here and no luck.On Windows VPN Client settings, if I uncheck "use default gateway on remote network" I have internet connectivity (since client is using local gateway), but then, I cannot ping remote network. In log, I see this warnings of this type:Teardown TCP connection 256 for outside:192.168.150.1/49562 to outside:213.199.181.90/80 duration 0:00:00 bytes 0 Flow is a loopback (cisco)I have attached my configuration file (without split-tunneling configuration I tried). If you need additional logs I'll send them right away.
I want to configurate cisco ipsec vpn client at asa 5505. At my asa the software version is 8.4. Any link or some material to config ipsec vpn client at asa 5505 version 8.4.
Is it possible with ASAVPNSERVER 5520 and an EasyVPN 5505 Client to have the client do split tunnel to a single public IP address? Both devices are on 8.2(5) 33. Could you possible provide sample config for split tunnel?
ASA 5505 running 8.2 with ASDM 6.2. VPN Client Version 5.0.05.0290
I've installed both the anyconnect and ipsec VPN clients and successfully connected for remote VPN server access; however, the client shows no packets being returned. Thinking that I misconfigured, I reset to the factory default and began again. Now I only have the ipsec vpn configured and I have exactly the same symptoms. I followed the directions for configuring the ipsec vpn in Document 68795 and rechecked my configuration and I don't see what I've done wrong. Given that I can connect to the internet from the inside network, and I can connect to the VPN from outside the network (and the ASDM Monitor shows an active connection with nothing sent to the client) I have to believe it is either a route or an access rule preventing communication but I can't quite figure out where (and I've tried static routes back to the ISP and a wide variety of access rules before flushing everything to start over).
At work my desktop pc is a Novell client with WinXP. I wanted to use it a an ics host so I'd be able to connect my laptop to it with a cross wire so both computers could surf simultaneously using one source connection.I should probably note that I only have user privileges on my desktop and no admin privileges on it. It is my workplace policy so people don't install software that might end up being malicious. We also have Wifi at work but my at my office I have a low signal (1-2 bars) so I can disconnect my desktop, copy it's MAC address to my laptop and surf with my laptop instead. However, I need both computers, the desktop for work and PC for personal use.
I have weird problem with a Site to site VPN tunnel from a Cisco ASA 5505 to an Clavister Firewall. When I restart the Cisco ASA 5505 the tunnel is up and down,up, down, down, and I get all strange messages when I see if the tunnel is up or down with the syntax: [code]
After a while like 5-10 min the vpn site to site tunnel is up and here is the strange thing happening I have all accesslists and tunnel accesslists right I can only access one remote network (Main site Clavister Firewall) trought the vpn tunnel behind the Cisco ASA 5505, and I have 5 more remote networks that I want to access but only one remote network is working trought the vpn tunnel behind the Cisco ASA. I see that when I do this syntax in ASA: show crypto ipsec sa.They had a Clavister Firewall before on that site before and now they have a Cisco ASA 5505 and all the rules on the main site thats have the big Clavister Firewall is intact so the problems are in the Cisco ASA 5505. [code]
All these remote networks are at the Main Site Clavister Firewall.
There are anonymous VPN services that let you hide your real IP address from the websites you visit. But can you host an HTTPS website from behind a VPN so that nobody knows your real IP address?
Can I configure a PIX (515), as PPTP client to establish a tunnel with non-Cisco PPTP server ? Can my PIX initiate this type of connection ?Today, I use a PC with PPTP client to establish this and I want replace this with a PIX and I don´t want depends of a PC.
i have a client who needs to establish a VPN tunnel from his satellite office (Site A) to his corporate office (Site Z). His satellite office will have a single PC sitting behind the ASA. In addition, he needs to be able to VPN from his home (Site H) to Site A to access his PC.The first question I have is about the ASA 5505 and the various licensing options. I want to ensure that an ASA5505-BUN-K9 will be able to establish the site-to-site tunnel as well as allow him to use either the IPsec or SSL VPN client to connect from Site H to Site A. Secondly, I would like to verify that no special routing or configuration would need to take place in order to allow traffic not destined for Site Z (i.e., general web browsing or other traffic to any resource that is not part of the Site Z network) to go out his outside interface without specifically traversing the VPN tunnel (split tunneling?)Finally, if the client were to establish a VPN session from Site H to Site A, would that allow for him to connect directly into resources at Site Z without any special firewall security rules? Since the VPN session would come in on the outside interface, and the tunnel back to Site Z goes out on the same interface, would this constitute a split horizon scenario that would call for a more complex config, or will the ASA handle that automatically without issue?
I'm in process of purchasing a new Cisco routers for our branches that will be used primary to enable IPSec virtual tunnel interfce with "tunnel mode ipsec ipv4". does the default IOS IP Base supports this feature? or i need to purchase DATA license or SECURITY license?
we use the Cisco VPN-Client to connect to our CISCO1921 Router and want to go out again on the same interface to the internet. We configured the connection with the IOS scurity package, have no split tunneling - so the client is forced with it's default gateway to our router - we also have pushed our local dns-server to the client and he gets dns results. Now I think we have to got out with some kind of NAT, because our client has a private IP from the IPSec Client pool. At the moment we have no NAT inside/outside, bacause we only use official IP addres in- and ouside (data-room usage).
- Is it possible to get the NAT function going in and out on the same interface with crypto_map IPSec user comming in and going out to the internet ? - Is it more secure to configure this with vrf ? - Has some a link to example configurations for this ?
I am using a Cisco RV110W (Firmware 1.2.09) in a branch and I would like to create a VPN Tunnel to another site that has a Cisco RV042 (firmware v4.2.1.02)
What would be the correct Configuration? the current configuration I am using is
in the RV042 i am using
Check Enable Local Group Setup Local Security Gateway Type : IP Only IP Address : RV042 Pulbic IP address
The ASA has one public IP on its outside interface and using PAT to the internet. It only has two interfaces, inside and outside using vlan. I created a IPSec VPN through CLI. My goal is for the remote client to browse the Internet throught tunnel.
Q1: Is it possible?
Q2: The remote side gets connected and has IP from the pool, with is part of inside network. But it cannot ping anything, including the gateway, which is the inside interface. I debug it, it shows the ASA receives the ping packages, but it doesnt send anything back to the client.
setup CE500-24TT switch Port FE2 router / ports FE1,3-24 desktop / Ports GE1-2 Switch ports - MAC filtering is NOT enabled
FE1 - Cisco PIX501 FE2-24 Desktops/Printers
G1 - Empty G2 - 8 port Gig Switch
8 Port G Switch = SBS2008 / Win2003 with Citrix / Win2K8 Management Server - plus a couple of desktops for Gig to server accessIs it possible to configure a PIX 501 to allow internet access for a Cisco VPN Client 4.8 without Split tunneling. The idea would be to have all raffic traverse the tunnel, be routed out the local WAN link on the PIX and then have the reply be forwarded back to the client over the IPSec tunnel.
I have configured Ipsec vpn tunnel beetween two routers (from site A to site B) over untrusted internet connection by cisco 3825 routers and i can successfully access both of this routers. But now i need to access internet on site B router sitting on site A router. So that if i run traceroute from A site machine then the gateway by which internet passing through shows the ip of site B.
The Architecture of our both site routers :
Site A 10.1.11.0-----Router A 172.18.12.1-----VPN tunnel----Router B 172.18.12.2-----Site B 10.4.11.0

i have 2 rv042 with a vpn tunnel between them.the problem is that i can't access https over the VPN !if i telnet 192.168.10.1 443 through the VPN, it's not working either. if i telnet 192.168.10.1 443 in my 192.168.10.0 network it's working so it's reall the VPN tunnel the problem.
I'm configuring this asa for to connect home users to my network using the native microsoft vpn clients with windows xp over internet. This asa have on the outside interface one public intenet ip and in the inside inferface have configured in the the network 192.168.0.x and i want to acces to this network from internet users using native vpn clients.I tested with one pc connected directly to the outside interface and works well, but when i connect this interface to internet and tried to connect on user to the vpn i can see in the logs this, and can't connect with error 800.TCP request discarded from "public_ip_client/61648" to outside:publicip_outside_interface/1723"
