Can't Access Secure / Https Pages On Only 1 Website

Mar 21, 2012

Iv tried about everything you can find when you google things about not being able to access a particular website but none work checking out all security settings, deleting all cache, disabling security, checking date and time, flushdns, use opendns, try other devices (not one device in my household can get to https pages on this one site), making sure root certificates are updated, bypassing router, unplugging internet and router to ''reset'', trouble shooting with isp, website, ssl issuer, other wildblue users, other website users, other tech forum, checking for virus and malware and I'm sure there's more that I can't recall at the moment. I am not the only user of this website with a problem and all us having a problem have satellite internet (different providers), however not everyone with my satellite internet (wildblue thru dishnetwork) has this problem as I have asked here...some do some don't Wildblue ''blocking'' a website's ssl? - WildBlueWorld.com Forums

I can go to the website toontown.com but I can not access any pages that are ''secure'' or https. Can't login and using satellite internet?

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5510 / Certain HTTPS Website Timing Out

Sep 12, 2011

Running ASA 5510 with code 8.3 in it.We have our few https portal and OWA websites in HO.We access these sites from the network behind the ASA.All works perfectly fine.

In order to have control on internal network traffic we placed a web-filtering device (Fortigate) in transparent mode.To start with of we haven't blocked anything via new box but https portal and OWA stopped working from certain computers. At the same time other https sites were reachable from the same computer/s.We checked that website was tracable using traceroute from ASA,Fortigate and even from interal computer(from the one which it is not opening). This behaviour is random.

Host Website With Apache HTTP Through ZyXEL EQ-660R Modem?

Dec 21, 2010

Essentially, I have a spare desktop computer I'd like to turn into a web server, but my modem and wireless router are very difficult to work with. I installed Apache HTTP and successfully hosted a test page which can be accessed anywhere on the LAN. However, I'm having trouble setting up the server to be accessed from my external IP address.

I was supplied with a ZyXEL EQ-660R DSL modem by my ISP (CenturyLink) and bought a Netgear WGT624v3 wireless router in which to connect my laptop and spare desktop.

ZyXEL's website is not useful, and I don't think much of the problem is with the Netgear router. I've played with many settings and have tried to forward port 80 from the modem, but I've had no luck.

Could Not Make An HTTPS Connection

Aug 17, 2011

Internet works in that I can get onto a site but not login ie banking - also can't get results once I get onto National Lottery site, login into Hotmail. The diagnostics log states it could not make an HTTPS connection but nearly every thread I have read mentions firewall problems. I don't have Norton, just Windows Firewall and Lavasoft Adaware, but turning both off doesn't change anything. My PC is a Dell, I use a Cisco modem and a Belkin wireless router for my kids to run their XBoxes, all have been fine for 2 years. [code]

All HTTPS Sites Failing Validation

Apr 1, 2011

I just put together a new computer. After putting it together I installed Windows 7 64-bit. My problem is that every "https" website I go to fails at its certificate validation. Every browser I use (Firefox 4, Chrome, IE9) warns me that the security certificate failed the validation. If I click "continue anyway" the browser shows a blank page. This happens for every https site. I have tried mail.live.com, mail.google.com, bankofamerica.com, etc. I can't even connect to windows update (which is really bad). The problem is limited to this computer. All my other computers (2 laptops with windows 7 32 bit) connect to websites using https just fine. My computer is freshly installed, but I scanned for spyware/viruses/trojans and came up empty.

HTTPS Proxies / Work With HTTP And End To End Encryption?

May 1, 2012

I am familiar with how a proxy works. The client sends a request to the proxy server and the proxy server makes the connection on behalf of the client to the web page.My question is how does this work with HTTP and end to end encryption?I know that at a company the IT staff can install certs on the computers that link to the proxy thus breaking the end to end encryption and allowing the company to see what data is being sent.I however cannot find out or think of how else to proxy an HTTPS connection other than installing certs on the clients that allows the proxy to see the data.If the proxy makes the https request on behalf of the client via one session, the https session would terminate on the proxy and the proxy would have to create a subsequent https connection to the client. This would break the end to end encryption and the client should pick up on this unless the certs on the client have been changed.

Routers / Switches :: Can't Access Any Https Sites

Oct 25, 2011

when my Linux VM is running! How's this for a mystery - last night I noticed that I could no longer access my gmail. Thought it might be down. This morning, I still couldn't access it. Thought I would try comcast, no joy either. Changed computers, no difference. Changed routers, no difference. Bought a new router and started plugging in network cables one at a time. My main machine first, everything works - http and https sites, a second computer, all good. The switch. Fine. Powerline. Still good. Then I plug in a Windows server running a Linux VM. Https sites on all the other machines stop working. Pause the Linux VM, restart router - https sites return to life. Went to Linux machine, re-enabled ipv6 (the only recent change on the Linux machine was to disable ipv6 since upon a reboot, Linux didn't have an ipv4 address). Restart Linux everything seems fine. A few hours go by, try to connect my wife's new laptop and at that moment wireless seems to stop. Restart router, wireless is back. But lo and behold, https is gone again. Unplug the machine that has the Linux VM, restart router, all is good.Ever see anything this weird?

Routers / Switches :: Can't Connect To Any Https Websites?

May 31, 2011

can't access gmail or any https sites at all such as fnb.co.za or auction sites ect... I've tried resetting my rooter, configured all the settings as they were when working, I have basically gone into my network & sharing centre and change adapter settings to make sure all the settings there are as should be, reset , & config all of those as well, I've also gone into cmd and reset my D-link completelly from the command, and also tried to restore my computer to an earlier stage which did not work either , Now all I can gather is that It has to be a block some where most likely with the rooter , which is blocking access to port 443.

This Secure http router is directly connected to the cable modem.Would I be loosing the benefit of Secure http by adding wireless access points or repeaters that don't support it? Or would they be securely routed by the main https router connected to the gateway?I have never had the opportunity to work with a secure http router before.
