Host Website With Apache HTTP Through ZyXEL EQ-660R Modem?
Dec 21, 2010
Essentially, I have a spare desktop computer I'd like to turn into a web server, but my modem and wireless router are very difficult to work with. I installed Apache HTTP and successfully hosted a test page which can be accessed anywhere on the LAN. However, I'm having trouble setting up the server to be accessed from my external IP address.
I was supplied with a ZyXEL EQ-660R DSL modem by my ISP (CenturyLink) and bought a Netgear WGT624v3 wireless router in which to connect my laptop and spare desktop.
ZyXEL's website is not useful, and I don't think much of the problem is with the Netgear router. I've played with many settings and have tried to forward port 80 from the modem, but I've had no luck.

After replacing a Cisco CSS/SSL Accelorator and PIX firewall with an ACE 4710 to do load balancing and SSL encryption behind an ASA firewall we started seeing mangled HTTP requests in the Apache access logs for the servers in the server farm. This is occurring for several different URLs and not just the one above and for multiple web browsers. The ACE load balances to servers running Tomcat 7 with Apache HTTP server v. 2.2.14. A recent ACE software upgrade to A5(2.1) has not fixed the problem.

Any service where a computer can host a website just about anywhere with an internet connection? As in... using the VPN as the connection so that no router port forwarding is needed?

I bought a new modem (Zyxel P-660H-D1) few weeks ago and since then my internet has been alot slower than before. When i start up my computer, it isn't actually that slow at first... it starts getting slow after around 10-20 minutes. I also started getting bluescreens from time to time. My downloads aren't that much slower then before, but loading internet pages is painfully slow and online games are lagging alot. This is also happening with my xbox360, so I don't think it's my computers fault. With my old modem (Telewell EA-501) I was getting around 6Mbps, but with the new one its only around 1-2Mbps. My ping is also very high (around 400ms) and I have some packet loss. My jitter is 200ms.

I need to connect these devices:
- Some computers.
- A Cisco Catalyst 2960 switch (computers must be connected to this switch)
- A ADSL router Zyxel P-660HN-T1A with WiFi (the switch must be connected to this router)
In my company we have at least 10 computers which were connected to Internet using a WiFi connection. But now we need these computers connected to a wired line and this router has just 4 Ethernet ports which are not enough obviously. So we bought this 24-port Cisco switch to connect all the computers and I don't know how to connect it to the ADSL router and what configurations to set up in order to have access to internet in every computer connected to the switch.

I am trying to allow an external website access to my http://localhost:8080. It is a trusted website.
I have a ZyXel Q1000 modem and a Trendnet TEW-452BRP router. The TRENDnet is serving a PS3, Xbox, Wii, and 2 iMacs and the ZyXel is serving the TRENDnet.
My public IP for the ZyXel is 65.xxx.xx.152 and it's IP address is 192.168.0.1 with a range of 192.168.0.2-254 My TRENDnet IP is 192.168.1.1 and a range of 192.168.1.100-199
I have setup a Virtual Server on the TRENDnet using HTTP, Protocol TCP 80/80 and LAN Server 198.168.1.109 (my iMac localhost). I have also setup Application forwarding and Port forwarding on both the modem and router (at different times, trying to resolve this).
Naturally none of those worked. I don't know if I need a Port forwarded or Application forwarding or the Virtual Server. Also don't know if either of those need to be on one or both devices.
All I do know is to access my localhost from the Internet, all I need to do is put http://65.xxx.xx.152 in the address bar of a browser outside my network, and my modem/and or router should forward the request to my iMac and my localhost:8080.
But every configuration I have tried does nothing of the sort.

I have a Embarq 660 Series modem, but i wanted wifi. so i bought a belkin N300 wireless router this morning. And it won't connect to internet. I'm sure i've plug the cable in the right spot. And the EQ 660R ADSL router/modem is working. The belkin package came with a CD, and it's the setup program for the wireless router. but as it tried to form a connection, it said failed to connect to the modem. so does this means embarq 660 series isn't compatible with Belkin N300?

I wanted to monitor c3560 port where modem is connected from host. So for that I configured rspan. configurate show below. But problem is that after configuration f0/4 of c3550 remains up and f0/3 of c2950 goes down. WHen I look at status of f0/4 it show "FastEthernet0/4 is up, line protocol is down (monitoring)". I am attempting to setup an Apache Server 2.2 for Windows, everything is set up but the server will not start, I heard it may be caused by my virus protector using Port 80 but I cannot find the httpd.conf file for it in the directories they say it should be in, I even did a tree/f with CMD DOS?

i've created an application with NodeJS and I'd like to test the application on my LAN with my family. The application listens on port 1337 for connections and I can access the application fine through my own PC by typing localhost:1337, 192.168.0.3:1337 or even http://joel-pc:1337/ into my browser's address bar.
I will be also be running apache alongside NodeJS, and I can access this fine by typing 192.168.0.3 or http://joel-pc/ into a browser's address bar as long as it's connected to the same network. Now here's the weird part; If I stop the apache service, change my node application to listen on port 80 (http) insted of 1337, it will be accessible on my pc by typing localhost, 192.168.0.3 or even http://joel-pc into my browser's address bar. However, I still can't access NodeJS on any other PC on my network apart from my own.
I've tried creating an outbound rule within Windows 7 to allow access to port 1337, but I still can't get access to my NodeJS server on any other PC than my own, even if it's listening on port 80.

Differences between using an Apache server on a regular laptop vs. a whole operating system like Windows Server 2008. I'd like to setup an intranet complete with an internal domain name. Is this possible with Apache or do you have to use a complete server operating system like Windows server 2008?

i am trying to use teh ACE to replace an apache based load balancer in an jboss application cluster. I am using L7 loadbalancing to load balance between multiple components. the way these jboss application servers work with apache is that. When the jboss application starts up on the on application cluster, it issues a GET opencase/webservices/config-service?wsdl to the loadbalancer IP.The apache based LB in turn talks to the same box on port 8009 via ajp retrieves the configuration file and provides it back to the application on port 80.And after 2 has completed the Jboss application comes up. Basically to start the application the Apache loadbalacer will accept requests from the its target list and load balance the request back to them itself. Not sure how i can use the ACE to accomplish this. attached are my topology (logical) and the ace configuration. from my topology file -- the net-cms-1 will issue a get request to teh VIP (on the ace), the ACE accepts the connection but soon resets it.

I have taken over a couple of LMS 3.2.0 standalone servers (two different networks). When I reboot them they tend to be slow coming back up (20-30 min). I"m thinking this may be due to the fact that LMS was reinstalled on both of them as I see an old CSCOpx folder (CSCOpx_old) as well as the current one. I assume that someone reinstalled and the registry may be dirty and service dependencies may be jacked up but honestly I don't know how this works for LMS and I haven't found much good info in the user guide for common services for service dependencies or registry keys in general.
Also, one of the servers never comes up fully on reboot or restart of the daemon manager. I troubleshot this and found that Tomcatmonitor and Apache are always down after reboot/restart. Tomcatmonitor says that it was shutdown by the administor in a pdshow and Apache says that it was never started. I have to go into the server and manually start these processes with a pdexec to get the application up.

I'm trying to get a Curl Response from an outside server, however I noticed I cant neither PING the server in question nor connect to it.I tried disabling the iptables firewall but I had no success. My server is running behind a Cisco Linksys WRTN310N Router with the DD-wrt firmware Installed. In which I already disabled the firewall.
Here are my network settings:
Ifconfig
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:26:b9:76:73:6b
inet addr:192.168.1.120 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
inet6 addr: fe80::226:b9ff:fe76:736b/64 Scope:Link
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
[code]......
This gets an empty result array. This function however works well in the previous server where the script was hosted before. No modifications where made whatsoever

I've seen a couple of expired threads on this subject, so I'm sorry for resurrecting it! I have just got a ZyXEL P660HN-TxA router/modem on my home landline to use for wifi with my smartphone. The problem I have is it won't stay connected for long. It connects quickly & browsing is fast for a few minutes, but then it just kicks me offI am still connected to the wifi, but I can't browse anything or re-connect to the internet. Sometimes I can use it for up to 10/15 minutes before it kicks me off. I have to reset the modem, or turn the wifi off then back on via my phone.

I have a an old router that I changed out when I switched over to fibernet that was just gathering dust, so I decided to include it in my network to extend the wireless range, so the signal is stronger throughout the whole house. Now, the only reason I attach it is to extend the wireless distance, nothing more. Both routers are exactly the same (Zyxel P2602HWT), and the second router is connected through an ethernetcable going to the DSL port. I can connect to the SSID just fine, but it's not actually connected to the internet, only locally (as I can configure the router).I have turned OFF DHCP for the second router, that I only intend to use as a second access point.

I've been using ZYXEL PLA-401 v1 Homeplug adapters for years to connect various devices to my router for a "more stable" than wireless connection. This worked fine in my last house, connecting a switch in our office to the router. We've now moved and I have got some more homeplug adapters to make a few other more reliable connections.
Problem is, the new adapters can't see the old adapters on the homeplug network. They can see each other, as can the old ones. I suspect a firmware or network name mismatch - I've tried to change settings on each of them but the Zyxel utility doesn't appear to do much. I can't set the DAK names, nor can I change the network names. The firmware update utility doesn't work on Windows 7 (gives a cannot find Windows path error).
using the Zyxel configuration utility and firmware upgrade tool on Windows 7 / Ubuntu?
