Cisco VPN :: Configure ASA 5505 NEM Client To Allow Access To Internet When Tunnel To Headend Is Down?

Jan 31, 2011

How can I configure an ASA 5505 NEM client to allow access to the Internet when the tunnel to the headend is down?  I am planning on deploying back to back ASA 5505s in network extension mode but I do not want to block Internet access on the client side if the tunnel to the server should go down.

Cisco VPN :: 1921 - Internet Access Via VPN Client Tunnel

Jun 5, 2011

we use the Cisco VPN-Client to connect to our CISCO1921 Router and want to go out again on the same interface to the internet. We configured the connection with the IOS scurity package, have no split tunneling - so the client is forced with it's default gateway to our router - we also have pushed our local dns-server to the client and he gets dns results. Now I think we have to got out with some kind of NAT, because our client has a private IP from the IPSec Client pool. At the moment we have no NAT inside/outside, bacause we only use official IP addres in- and ouside (data-room usage).

- Is it possible to get the NAT function going in and out on the same interface with crypto_map IPSec user comming in and going out to the internet ?
- Is it more secure to configure this with vrf ?
- Has some a link to example configurations for this ?

Cisco VPN :: 5505 - Configure ASA Server And EasyVPN Client?

Apr 28, 2011

So I have three ASA 5505 firewall. my firewalls we are in the test environment. I read on the net that when you have a situation like in my company where are headquarter and two offices, i should put  in each branch office and headquarter one asa firewall and a firewalls should be configured as easyvpn.

VPN server is in headquarter and easyvpn's are in branch offices. i tried everything, but we could not configure them. maybe it's not a problem that in my test environment at my the external interfaces which have static addresses on these three firewalls, respectively serever 192.168.2.1, 192.168.2.2 and 192.168.2.3 client client. I seted firewalls by following the instructions, but does not work

[URL]...

I solved the problem with the server as a remote access VPN. client workstations that are on the 192.168.2.0/24 network can access a local LAN via VPN. But when you put the ASA 5505 firewall. clients on the LAN side of the firewall can not access the VPN. I use software products Cisco VPN Client 5.0.06, but when I create a connection and try to connect to get an error secure vpn connection terminated locally by the client. reason 412: the remote peer is no longer responding.

Cisco VPN :: 2911 - Unable To Access LAN Using Client Tunnel To Router

Sep 4, 2011

I recently purchased a Cisco 2911 to replace my Cisco 1711 router. I copied the  configuration from the Cisco 1711 router to the Cisco 2911 router.  Everything seemed to work correctly except when I VPN tunnel into the Cisco 2911  router using Cisco's VPN client version 5.0. I can ping the router LAN interface from my PC that is VPNed into the  router but I can no longer ping or access the devices on the LAN side of the  router as I did on the Cisco 1711 router. I don’t see errors in the log or hits  blocking anything in the acls. It’s using the same configuration that I had on  the Cisco 1711 router, and this did work on the Cisco 1711. The Cisco 2911  router is running IOS Software, C2900 Software (C2900-UNIVERSALK9-M), Version  15.0(1)M1, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1).

Here is the VPN clinet portion of the configuration: The LAN is addressed as 192.168.0.0/24. The router LAN interface is 192.168.0.1, which I can ping and access. I can't ping or access anything on the LAN (192.168.0.0/24) beside the router.

Cisco VPN :: ASA 5505 Site-to-site VPN Tunnel And Client VPN Sessions?

Nov 14, 2012

i have a client who needs to establish a VPN tunnel from his satellite office (Site A) to his corporate office (Site Z).  His satellite office will have a single PC sitting behind the ASA.  In addition, he needs to be able to VPN from his home (Site H) to Site A to access his PC.The first question I have is about the ASA 5505 and the various licensing options.  I want to ensure that an ASA5505-BUN-K9 will be able to establish the site-to-site tunnel as well as allow him to use either the IPsec or SSL VPN client to connect from Site H to Site A.  Secondly, I would like to verify that no special routing or configuration would need to take place in order to allow traffic not destined for Site Z (i.e., general web browsing or other traffic to any resource that is not part of the Site Z network) to go out his outside interface without specifically traversing the VPN tunnel (split tunneling?)Finally, if the client were to establish a VPN session from Site H to Site A, would that allow for him to connect directly into resources at Site Z without any special firewall security rules?  Since the VPN session would come in on the outside interface, and the tunnel back to Site Z goes out on the same interface, would this constitute a split horizon scenario that would call for a more complex config, or will the ASA handle that automatically without issue?

Cisco VPN :: ASA5505 - Remote Client To Browse Internet Through Tunnel?

May 28, 2011

inside network----ASA5505========internet===========Remote VPN client.

The ASA has one public IP on its outside interface and using PAT to the internet. It only has two interfaces, inside and outside using vlan. I created a IPSec VPN through CLI. My goal is for the remote client to browse the Internet throught tunnel.

Q1: Is it possible?

Q2: The remote side gets connected and has IP from the pool, with is part of inside network. But it cannot ping anything, including the gateway, which is the inside interface. I debug it, it shows the ASA receives the ping packages, but it doesnt send anything back to the client.

Cisco Wireless :: Configure AP 1522 To Accept Client Access On 2.4 And 5.0 Ghz?

May 5, 2013

how to configure AP1522 in my possession.

I have 2 AP1522 and I have to configure them so that clients can connect either 2.4 GHz or 5.0 GHz. Each of the two AP1522 must be autonomous, but has to bear in mind that are close together.

To do this I have:

- Defined the two AP1522 as RAP mode

- Set the flag on the "client access on backhault link", but I have not enabled the sub-flag "Extended backhaul Client Access" (what is this sub-flag?)

- Set 2 BGN different (but this is indispensible or I can put the same BGN? what is the difference?)

- Set the two AP1522 on two different channels (but this is necessary? or is importan only if I set the same BGN?)

- The two AP1522 appear on the WLC as a way bidge (is correct?)

How can I check if my laptop will connect using the 5.0 GHz?!? It's just turn off the antenna of 2.4 GHz?!? On my laptop I haven't found a way to force it to connect in 5.0 GHz.

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5505 - How To Configure DMZ Access For Ftp / Https Without NAT

Nov 18, 2012

I have a closed network that is not connnected to the internet, just other sites that we want to communicate with.  We have a cisco router connected to the outside interface on an ASA5505 and a cisco router connected to the inside interface on the same ASA5505.  I have an inside interface that connects our management LAN, five separate DMZ interfaces with a separate LAN (VLAN) on each DMZ interface and the outside interface that connects to the other sites.  Data is not allowed to mingle between the five DMZ's.

Alll connections to the other separate nodes are handled with the router on the external interface.  IPSEC GRE tunnels have been established between all sites and BGP routing has been verified.  Pings are good between inside, dmz and external interfaces and between the DMZ's and the other sites, to include hosts on our local networks and hosts at the remote sites.  Inter and intra traffic is enabled.

When a remote site attempts an https connection, the initial ACK handshake makes it through the ASA5505, but the return SYN/ACK is being knocked down and I don't understand why (it is not because of ACL's, they are any any at this point).

Why the return SYN/ACK to the remote site isn't getting through the ASA5505 outbound.  Will probably have the same issue with FTP, but right now, just trying to solve one problem at a time.

ASA5505 is in routed mode, not looking to NAT since the IP addresses in the DMZ need to be reached by their real IP address.

Cisco Firewall :: 5505 Configure Internal Router And DNS Server - No Internet

I'm adding router and a server for the guest interface and what I'm trying to accomplish now is the following: ASA 5505 > Airport Extreme with a public static IP (69.xx.xx.6), handling DHCP and NAT  > Mac Server as DNS Server.Right now, when I connect to my Airport Extreme with any computer, I don't have internet. I don't understand what's wrong. My DNS Server has a reserved IP address: 192.168.226.2 and it's pointing to itself and forwarding the ISP DNS servers, the Airport Extreme is handling the DNS Server IP and the ISP DNS Server IP but I can't connect to the internet from the server.  [code]

Cisco VPN :: 877 - Easy Internet Access Without Split Tunnel

getting internet access via a easy vpn tunnel on a cisco 877 router. Basically we would like roaming users to be able to use the internet via the vpn rather than using a split tunnel. The reason for this is we have multiple sites that are tied down via external IP access lists for some services. We would like roaming users to be able to interact with these sites through the central router and use the routers external IP address to acess the secured sites. I know we can use a proxy but we also use some other non proxy bases services at these sites so would rather direct routed access.

Cisco VPN :: 5510 - Internet On Stick No Split-Tunnel With Limited Internal Access?

May 9, 2012

Is it possible to configure remote access (IPSEC client) to force all traffic through the tunnel (no split tunnel) yet still limit the internal hosts that can be accessed?

I have been asked to provide remote access (via ASA5510) with the following requirements:

  - the client should have unrestricted internet access via the ASA (the source address will appear to be the outside interface of the ASA)

  - the client should have access to only two internal hosts (192.168.10.10 and 192.168.44.10)

Is there a way to limit access to those two internal hosts, while still providing secured internet access? The only way I can see is to use an access list on another device (for example our core switch).
