On my Cisco SLM248G Switch the Back pressure and Flow control are currently disable.For the Flow control is it best to set it to enable or just Auto negotations and for the Back pressure is it ok the Enable it.This Cisco Switch has 3 servers and 15 laptop users connected to the ports.Will there be a draw back to enable these settings.
View 1 Repliesin our office we have an Internet connection 20Mb upload and 20Mb download from XO our ISP provider.When my users connect using an ethernet cable to there laptops they get a speed of 18.34 download and 18.15 upload ping 7ms according to Speedtest.net.But when they connect using the wifl Access point Apple Airport Extreme they get the download speed 10.7 Mb and upload 14.5 Mb.Why such a difference in speed to the Internet? Is there a setting on the port on the Cisco SLM248G that I need to set for which the Access point is connected to.

- 2 cisco 2960s 24ts-l have been created a stack
- IOS is 12.2(58)se2
- all ports have been enabled flowcontrol receive dersied
via show flowcontrol, I can see each Gigabyte Port have been enabled "flowcontrol receive desired" but, when I do the following tests
- connect equallogic ps4000xv to the port 21, I found the status of port is "input flow-control is off"
- connect one server with Broadcom Gigabyte Network adapter, which has been enable TX ON RX ON, or Auto, the status of the port is still "input flow-control is off"
I guess, the port status should be ""input flow-control is on". Test them with another port, I got the same result. why?
I've been digging into some performance issues on a LAN that has a couple of 2960s. The monitoring software I'm using has indicated a high amount of discarded outbound packets (up to 5%). The suggested resolutions were to enable flow control.
My question is does enabling flow control on all ports interrupt network traffic at all? this is a production network so I had already planned on doing it during off hours but also wanted to know if I should be prepared for any significant drop in traffic.
Setting up Netflow from the 7010 platform to Solarwinds?I implemented the following code on both of my cores (VPC/HSRP Redundant Linked Pair) but had the following issues:
1. One of the cores I could see was sending Netflow records every few seconds whereas the other was not doing anything
2. Solarwinds was not seeing any of those records coming in and was showing last update from both devices as "Never"
Note that I have netflow already working as my Riverbed (fairly intelligently) already updates Netflow.Also i was all set to debug this myself but there doesn't seem to be debugging for Netflow that I can see?!?
I switched to Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200 BG by mistake and now I can't get connected through my wireless! I did not mean to do this, but I have not been able to switch back to Windows to control my wireless.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWe have been deploying Cisco SF200-24P switches for our systems for over a year now. They connect to a Cisco 881 router. In many cases we are also deploying Cisco AP541s.Over the last few months, on an intermittent basis, the switches will simply freeze, blocking all traffic flow. The power LED also goes dark. It appears the switch has frozen. The only thing that seems to revive the switch is a hard reboot by pulling the power cord. In the last couple of weeks, one site in particular has gone down a handful of times. That client of our is fed up. Our patience is running thin too.
I cannot see any indications in the logs to any event that might give a clue as to the problem. We definitely see this problem with the 1.2.7.76 firmware and the 1.2.9.44 (latest as of typing this). Not sure if with earlier 1.1.2 firmware.Without a fix, we likely will have to change switches and possibly vendors as we need a reliable switch.I see some vague references to a similar problem. And one reference to a SG300 series having what sounds like the same issue.
On a 6500 switch running ios 12.2, is there a way of clearing all config settings for a specified interface? I want to avoid going through and having to type "no blah blah etc" for each line.

Looking at the manual for this router in regards to bandwidth restrictions.When you set up the Rules under Bandwidth Control does this setting shared by the IP range or does each IP in the range get that amount of bandwidth?
We have an SLM248G switch which seems to be giving a few problems. When attempting to access the switch, the admin page loads but after logging-in, the admin portal page does not load fully, see screenshot.
Even after a factory reset (reset button held), the issue continues. Is there any other workaround for completely resetting everything?
How can i get information about the back plane utilization. is there any command for the SB-switches (sg300).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got an SG300-10P switch and am trying to use it to create a testing environment for a Fiber Test set. What I would like to do is get two hosts, A & B, plugged into ports 1 and 3 on the switch, to talk to each other, but forcing the traffic to be routed through the two Combo ports 9 & 10. Please see the attached diagram.I've attempted to configure two VLAN's, 10 and 20. Vlan 10 is used for traffic between Ports 1 and 9, Vlan 20 is used for traffic between Ports 3 and 10.I don't really care whether the traffic is tagged or untagged as it passes between ports 9 and 10.
I've tried various combinations of tagged/untagged ports, PVID's, etc. As a first test I've bypassed the Fiber Test set and simply created a direct connection between ports 9 and 10. I am unable to get the traffic from Host A to Host B to get routed through ports 9 and 10 (I ping each host from the other and get no response).
I have a bunch of 3750x switches that each have a 10 gig routed link back to a central 4507 (loopback = 172.30.255.255).We carved up a /24 (of course, the /24 doesn't really exist except in our address tracking spreadsheet) into a bunch of /30's for routed WAN links and /32's for loopback addresses.We started on the low end for /30 subnets (ie 172.30.255.0/30, 172.30.255.4/30, etc.).We started at the high end for the /32 loopbacks (ie 172.30.255.255/32, 172.30.255.254/32, etc.)
Well, when I try pinging 172.30.255.255 from the access layer 3750x switches, the 3750x seems to be treating it as a broadcast ping where it lists each member that responds instead of the regular !!!!! response (this makes think something is odd with the 3750x). Of course, only one member responds (the core). But even the core seems to respond with the other end of the /30 instead of the actual /32 loopback (which makes me think something is odd in the core). I could have sworn that I've setup similar topologies without problems (ie, using 10.0.0.0/32, 10.255.255.255/32, etc as loopbacks) and as long as the mask is a /32, it should work.Also, I can ping/ssh to that loopback if my laptop is on a directly connected subnet. But I can't do it from any of the 3750x switches (which are also directly connected).I've double checked for overlapping subnets, but nope. I don't see any. Routing looks fine. The actual /32 is being propagated everywhere properly.
I have a Cisco SG300 switch on which trunks are configured. I have a server which sits on the switch via a trunk link of four network cables (4 Gbps total)on which LACP is enabled. I'm having trouble connecting to the server using VNC from a computer on the network. It doesn't happen all the time though, it's just random.
On looking at the logs of the switch, I saw something unusual. The trunk that connects the switch to the server is constantly removing all the member ports and adding them back again after a few minutes interval. That causes the trunk link to flip on and off all the time. What could be the reason that's causing it to happen? I know it could be the network cable but I'm using brand new cables and the server also is brand new.
I have a Cisco 8510msr that is connected back to back with a 7206vxr across a 155Meg connection.I receive lots of Output drops on the 7206vxr interface facing the atm switch. When I do the following command:-

My question is that cisco website says there are two type of cable connections for this type of config --which are --T1 CSU/DSU ConfigurationSet one CSU/DSU to clock source internal, and the other CSU/DSU to clock source line. View 2 Replies View RelatedI just received a new Cisco SG300-10 and am configuring it in Layer 3 mode. I am trying to setup multiple routed VLANs going back to a FiOS Actiontec router. My configuration is as follows.
Fios Router: 192.168.1.1
Assigning DHCP 192.168.1.2 through 100.
SG300-10 has VLan 1 ip 192.168.1.5 used for Mgmt.
VLAN2 is 10.0.2.1
VLAN3 is 10.0.3.1.
I have a static route set on the fios router for both subnets setup as follows.
Destination 10.0.3.0 Gateway 192.168.1.5 Netmask 255.255.255.0 Metric 1
Destination 10.0.2.0 Gateway 192.168.1.5 Netmask 255.255.255.0 Metric 1
I have a laptop connected to Gi8 on the Cisco (Vlan 3) and statically assigned 10.0.3.3, with a gateway of 10.0.3.1. DNS set to the fios router (192.168.1.1).
Everything pretty much works EXCEPT, I cannot get out to the internet from either vlan. Traffic routes between vlans/and the default subnet on the fios without issue.
When I ping out, DNS resolves, but will not go past the fios router. Am I missing a setting somewhere?
Just to get this clear as having issues with a E1 link with CRC's at one.Router A,Network-Clock-Participate WIC 1,Should router B have clock participate for WIC 1? We currently have controllers set as UNFRAMED but guess we can set to NO-CRC4 both ends and telco will pass this.

I'm having some trouble getting two Cisco 888's to work correctly back to back.. The two routers will ultimately be used in conjunction with a BT EPS8 circuit which is effectively four wires short distance between customer sites. We have configured lots of these using the older Cisco 878's.
Anyway, as i've been struggling to get line sync on site I've gone back to basics and connected the two 888's back to back. However, I've found that no matter what I do I can only get the routers to sync at 384kbps!? And that's with a one meter RJ11-RJ11 cable.. Very strange. When we've used the 878's we get much more bandwidth. I have tried statically assigning the line rate at both ends but it still only works at 384kbps.
I am setting up my lab using two 2901 routers which is running on 15.2 IOS.I am trying to simulate a back to back BRI.BRI Module: WIC-1B-S/T-V3 (x2) one of each router.
I followed this amazing document to understand the concept of BRI and configuration. url..but it never says if i can use the module that i have mentioned.
