Asus RT-N16 - Couldn't Recover My Password?
Apr 4, 2013I couldn't recover my password so I just created a new account.I just recently bought the ASUS RT-N16 since I switched to a different ISP that provided only a modem.
The problem: Some computers in the house will connect no problem to the network and without trouble. Other computers will be able to connect to the network but it will be restricted. When you go to the internet browser it shows an Asus logo and says: "the cable for ethernet is not plugged in". All the computers are wireless and in fact I am writing this while connected to the RT-N16 (wirelessly). Also, sometimes a computer will boot, I will go into the browser, it will show me that message, I unplug the RT-N16, plug it back in and the internet works again. This happens everyday.
P.S. I would also like to note that I tried connecting to the internet network with a nexus and it showed me the same error while I tried connecting with a samsung galaxy S2 and everything worked just fine. Also we got like 5 computers at home and I'd say 1 computer always connects fine, some don't connect regardless of whether you restart the router or not and some computers work only when you restart the router so I have very mixed feelings about this one...

I have let the switch load completely, then pressing the mode button waiting for the light to turn amber and then green. I also have held the mode button down, plugged the switch back in until the mode light turns from amber to green. Either way I will type flash_init. Then when I type load_helper I get a invalid command response. The command load_helper isn't even listed.

the other similar resolutions on the cisco/other website but none of them works for the Cisco 4506 switch I have.
1. Reboot
2. Press the "CTRL + C" button on the laptop to put the router into ROMMON mode.Result: Works fine and gets into the ROMMON 1 mode.
3. confreg 0x2142Result: This one does not work. confreg=0x2142 and that command is accepted by the switch but it does not tell us that we have to restart to make the changes. Now it goes ROMMON 2 mode.
4. resetResult: I type reset and the switches seems to be power cycled but it again goes to the password prompt which I dont know and this is the password that I am trying to recover or break.

Nov 17, 2012We have a mitel 3300 PBX that is our DHCP server. It feeds an old Foundry Networks switch that nobody knows the password for anymore so I can't even look in it to get some clues. What I think I know is this.
vlan1 = PC's subnet 10.0.0.X 255.255.255.0
vlan2 = phones subnet 10.1.0.X 255.255.255.0
Phones plug into the switch, PC's plug into the phone.
I am assuming this to be the case becase all the PC's get those numbers and when booting up a phone it comes up and says "vlan2 pri 5" during the DHCP discovery.
Like I said the Mitel 3300 is the DHCP server and our internet access is from the firewall's trusted port.
I have put the switch in L3 mode via the console. No matter what I try, the PC will always get IP addresses in vlan2's subnet. Even if I plug the PC directly into the switch.
I have factory reset this baby and all I have done at this point is put it back in L3 and changed the default ip address so I can get to the web GUI.

Mar 22, 2013Im trying to recover the password from my stacked switchs(doing procedure on master switch),im following a guide i have read in this forum("SRW248G4 V1.1 unable to reset password"), at console terminal have chosen "password Recovery" it prompts the "current password will be ignored" and then i hit "Escape" the switch start loading de configuration, at this point i attempt to login from telnet or http but the login fails.
Here is the password/username combo im using (admin/blank ; admin/admin). Is it possible to restore admin password or should i just hardware reset the switchs?

Oct 3, 2012I'm wondering if anyone knows to set up the switch so that when I'm connecting via SSH, the switch doesn't prompt for a username if I supply one in the initial connect request? For example, we usually connect by typing something like the following at a command prompt:
ssh johndoe@10.10.10.10
Then the switch would prompt for a password. I've tried this on the Cisco SF302 but it still prompts for a username, and then the password.
