Cisco Switches :: SG300-10 / SF302-08P - Missing Mirror Configuration On Firmware

Jan 21, 2012

I have several SG300-10 and SF302-08P switches running with L2-mode, and after I upgraded their firmware to, they began to record the following logs every one hour.

- Severity: Warning

- Description: %COPY-W-TRAP: The mirror-config file is illegal due to failure of previous copy operation/s to mirror-config.Also I found that I didn't see the Mirror Configuration file on the Configuration File Table in the Configuration Files Properties page.

Cisco Switches :: SF302-08 Configuration

Apr 6, 2012

How do I make the following work with Cisco 302-08G ? I have a 4-port Cisco wireless/wired router that allows for a guest account. I also have Cisco SF302-08 that I bought so I could use its port/vlan mirroring capability. How should I configure the network, given the aforementioned equipment,  so that I can get a single point sniff.
Assume I have two wireless clients, one using the "regular" wireless SSID, and the other using the "guest" SSID.  I can see 192.168.1.x (regular SSID) and 192.168.169.x (guest ssid)  on the internet side (one the same physical cat5 of the wireless router. So far so good. But, I would like to use 302-08 to actually allow the guest SSID/network comm cable)unicate with the regular SSID/network. For example, if I ping 192.168.169.x from 192.168.1.x, I would like to see a response. Can I make them communicate properly with the 302-08 ?? if so, what do I need to do ?? (I will also have wired clients tied into the its important that it be the central sniffer point).

Cisco Switches :: SF302-08P Camera VLAN Configuration?

Mar 13, 2012

I am in the process of preping our network for the installation of an IP Camera based security system on it will be running within VLAN 600 in our network, and management would prefer that general users are not even aware it is there.
16 Cameras will all be running off two SF302-8P Switches that will be uplinked to our Cisco 2960 Access Switches. Due to port limitations I need to daisy chain the two SF302 Switches.
ACCESS-302-CA-01 - Ge1 uplinked to Port on ACCESS-03 (Cisco 2960) On this switch Fe1-8 Need to be in VLAN 600 to communicated with the camera server which will be plugged directly into Ge2 on Access 302-02.
ACCESS-302-CA-02 - Ge1 Uplinked to Ge2 on ACCESS-302-01
Ge2 - connected to the Network Video Recorder.
I've defined the VLAN's in the switch and have VLAN 600 as Untagged for FE1-8.
how do I configure Ge1 and Ge2 on each switch to pass the appropriate VLAN conntent to the devices connected?

Cisco Switches :: SG300 On 1.1 Firmware Has Double-Login On SSH

Jan 4, 2012

We just upgraded our Sg300 series switches to the new IOS so we can get CLI access. The upgrade went fine but it seems we have two login prompts, the first being completely unnecessary as you can just hit return to get by it. IE here is the progression:
1. Connect SSH

2. Receive a "login:" prompt. Anything can be entered here, including just return

3. Login banner is displayed

4. Username Prompt is then displayed. Valid username required

5. Password Prompt displayed - Valid password required

6. Now at CLI 1. Connect SSH

I am trying to get rid of that first login prompt (IE Step 2) as it is causing issues with our configuration software. I have tried every line and authentication command I can think of, the only thing that gets rid of it is using none authentication which obviously we can't stay with. how did you get around it?

Cisco Switches :: SG300-28 RADIUS Accounting Firmware And

Jan 27, 2012

I am using the CISCO SG300-28 with firmware version I enabled RADIUS authentication and accounting. Authentication is working but there are no accounting requests/replys (Accounting on, accounting off, accoun ting start, accounting stop) when running RADIUS in debug mode. I also did a packetcapture and there are no accounting packets.
So i updated the firmware image up to version When I now want to configure accounting in RADIUS settings then there isn't any option to set an accounting port.
Ich checked the data sheet of the switch and it says that accounting is supported:
802.1X: RADIUS authentication and accounting, MD5  hash; guest VLAN; unauthenticated VLAN, single/multiple host mode and  single/multiple sessions [URL]
I did a second packet capture with the new firmware image and there are still no accounting packets.
The RADIUS server is configured correct for accounting because when using another NAS like a WLAN-AP with DD-WRT accounting is workings. It is working with pfsense Captive Portal (an open source firewall and routing solution with a hotspot portal).

Cisco Switches :: SG300 Firmware Upgrade - How To Reload Using CLI

Jul 27, 2011

I've been having a problem with a brand new SG300-10 switch that I posted about yesterday. I checked the firmware and it was at and the lastest is So I backed up the current firmware and loaded the version and it seem to be CLI based only, with no web GUI.
If so is there an easy way to reload the using the CLI? There is nothing in the CLI docs that I can see unless it's buried.
The release notes for don't say it's CLI only either, maybe something just went wrong but the CLI seems to be functional.

Cisco Switches :: SG300-28Ps - Firmware / PoE Indicators No Longer Lit?

Mar 28, 2013

I installed the on a couple of SG300-28Ps.  On the Status and Statistics page, the PoE indicators no longer lit. Physically, on the front of the switch, they did still light.  I didn't yet reboot to factory defaults to see if that clears it, because I don't feel like entering the config again this early in the morning. But I am willing to test that, if needbe.
When reverting the image back to (tested) or possibly earlier, the ip default gateway must be re-entered (if it was configured). Even if ip-default gateway x.x.x.x shows up correctly on a 'show run', the switch will not obey it, and on the IPv4 settings page it will report the operational default gateway as blank. This came as a surprise becauset he switch suddenly wouldn't talk to the VPN anymore.

Logging onto the switch locally, going to the IPv4 settings, ticking the radio button back on User Defined and typing it back in cleared that up. It appears this cropped up because the syntax for specifying the default gateway changed in 1.3.x but it's still odd that the config shows correctly in console but not in the gui.

Cisco Switches :: LAG Configuration On SG300 52 Switch?

I am having an issue with LAG configuration on a Cisco SG300 52 switch. I have connected four Ge ports on the switch to the four NICs of a Dell R710 Server on which I installed Windows Server 2008 R2. Without LAG configured, these ports would forward traffic to and from the Dell server fine. However, if I configure LAG on the ports with LACP enabled, then they would not forward any network traffic. Debugging shows that the ports are up but their forwarding status show N/A. Am I missing any configuration? Can I configure LAG on edgeports?

Cisco Switches :: SG300-10 VLAN Configuration

Apr 22, 2012

Before I launch into this can I say that I am very much a novice with regards to Managed Switches and their configuration. I have the following equipment which I have connected to the switch: [code] All of the above are on subnet of the above communicate with each other during normal operation. Our client is connecting to the switch but his requirement is for his system to "see" the PLC Comms Card as follows:IP: on Subnet .
Using the Internet Explorer interface connection I have created an additional VLAN (ID 2) on Port 10 with the intention of using this as the connection to the client ( I assume there will be further settings required to route the PLC connection to this port) but every time I try to assign the IP and Subnet values and click "APPLY" the changes are not made and the connection appears to hang leading me to reboot the switch.I have connected to the switch via console and changed the mode to Layer 3.  I also assume that it is OK for the three pieces of equipment to remain on the default VLAN. How I should setup this VLAN and ultimately achieve my goal.

Cisco Switches :: SG300 Correct Configuration For Redundant Link Between Two Switch

Mar 9, 2012

I have two switch SG300-10 that need to be interconnect togheter with a simple redundant "cable fail safe" configuration. My idea is use the two uplink copper port of the first switch, connected to the two uplink copper port of the second switch.

How to create a working setup configuration? The first setup that i need, is with only one VLAN1 for all ports,
The second setup is with the VLAN1 assigned to the ports 1-2-3-4 of all the two switch, (linked togheter by uplink ports)
and the VLAN2 assigned to the ports 5-6-7-8 always linked togheter with the same uplink ports.
Is possible use the two uplink port at the same time, as cable fail safe? or use a uplink port 1 for the first group and the second uplink port for second group?
I need to use this configuration for audio cobranet transport, and i need to test the correct configuration for the primary and secondary audio stream, if can work togheter on the same VLAN or i need to separate the two stream, from start to the end.

Cisco Switches :: Two AP541Ns - Bandwidth Limited Through SF302-08P?

Aug 9, 2012

Just put in an SF302-08P switch with two AP541N's. Just a Comcast modem connects into the switch along with the two WAPs, nothing else. Speedtest through the cable modem with nothing plugged into it is 48Mbps. Then connecting a single laptop via the switch shows a speedtest of 33Mbps. Then with the two AP541N's plugged in and using the same laptop over WiFi, I'd consistently seen 10Mbps for downloading. But going right back to the cable modem directly showed me close to 50Mbps in a speed test.
Have factory defaults in all the Cisco devices, and poured over the settings and it looks like bandwidth limiting is disabled. Suspecting maybe it is for QoS and to optimize voice, but I see definite places in the devices where I could designate optimizing voice and those aren't enabled. Then started thinking with tweaking the wireless frequencies, but didn't want to do anything too unstable.

NETGEAR GS108E - Smart / Managed Switches That Allow Outbound From Mirror Port?

I'm searching for a managed switch that allows me to not only mirror a port/ports, but also to still use the destination port for the mirrors as a link to the internet/the rest of the network. Aside from this, I still need the VLAN functionality of good switches, and ideally PoE provided, too.

I have seen the majority of the features of this in the NETGEAR GS108E (http:url...), but this doesn't provide PoE to the ports and also requires Windows to log into.Is this a feature of many switches? I can think of many snooping applications where it would be incredibly useful.

Cisco Switches :: SGE2010 - Firmware Upgrade And Configuration Not Saving?

Oct 7, 2012

Using the SGE 2010 for Microsoft NAP with 802.1x auth for switch access, which led to a few issues
What i have: An SGE 2010 48 port switch, firmware Firmware upgrade: In order to ensure im not having problems due to old firmware, i tried to upgrade using ros_ls1_bp_ge_bx-3020.ros in order to move to 3.0.2, when uploading the file via TFTP, the upload completes and thats it, nothing happens.Restarting the device: As part of the upgrade process, i thought i might of had to reboot, so i rebooted, and found that all my settings were wiped clean, as if a factory reset had been performed.... and add further to pain, the backup of settings that i had taken do not seem to want to re-apply.NAP support: So i have tested my NPS (radius) server with NTRadping.exe and all is good, however i cannot get the SGE2010 to talk to it.... the authenticator state in the web interface is always listed as initialising.... im not sure if this is a simple incompatibility (hence the attempt at a firmware upgrade), a tag that needs to be set on the radius side or a switch misconfig.

1) how on earth do you upgrade the firmware?

2) why are none of my settings being saved when the device reboots ?
