And I wasn't able to get anything from the Cisco website either. (I didn't really look through the long PDFs, I'm sure there is a more simple way to find the answer to this that I'm not aware of.)

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there any difference between a switch and a router with DHCP turned off?I'm trying to connect a Mac and a PC (wired) to my Linksys E4200 but I don't have any ports left. I connected my Netgear WPN824 to my Linksys and turned DHCP off on the Netgear but I'm running into all sorts of problems:
- Mac/PC works for a few hours then looses network connectivity
- Mac/PC won't connect at all
- Mac will connect but I can't access my media server (PS3 Media Server) from my PS3 (which is wired directly to the Cisco)
I'm considering just giving up and buying a cheap network switch but was wondering if this will make any difference or will it just be a waste of money? With DHCP turned off, is the Netgear behaving exactly as a switch would anyway?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there was a difference between the Linksys SRW224G4 & Cisco SF300-24 switches. Going through the support docs I see the SF300 has limited L3 functionality in terms of being able to establish static routes between VLANS. Any further information would be of use.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI can't connect to the internet. I'm currently using a USB internet, but the problem still exists. So it's not working with either cable or USB internet. It just won't connect. I've thought for a long time that there is probably something wrong with my network card, but I've run some tests that I saw on the internet, and it appears as if the network card is fine. I've also thought that there might have been a program or something that I installed that could have caused this problem, but I can't find the problem. When I go to the device manager, I can find one network card called: "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller". I've tried to reinstall the card, but it doesn't work. I can't find any software on the internet for this card either.

View 3 Replies View RelatedJust a general concern for privacy, on my NIC card and gateway stock from HP, as well as performance...where should we draw the line and consider ourselves safe? Being disabled and pretty much not able to work no longer with a life threatning illness, and not much in my bank account, I have not much to worry about this. However I dont want my typical neighborhood kid hacking on my connection either, it tends to slow down your bandwidth.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIve just downloaded wireshark just to mess around and ive noticed that even when ive got nothing open its still capturing packets. It gives me a choice of interfaces i want to choose to monitor and i would of thought it be "Realtek PCIe Family Controller" as this is normally the default one (im using wireless) but its saying no packets are being captured from this interface its the "Microsoft" Interface thats capturing the packets. Ive attached a screenshot, i know this isnt nothing bad but was just wondering 1) why isnt my Realtek PCIe interface capturing anything (even when i have youtube open it doesnt capture anything) and 2) why is Microsoft capturing packets? what is this microsoft interface and why is it capturing packets when nothing is open.

Recently I ran in to SG300-52 switch and even though loading same firmware doesn't give me option to do layer-3 switching. For SG-300 I see options in GUI to create vlan interfaces under IP information section, while SG300-52 has IP information option only under the management section.let me know if these are 2 different hardware types and L3 is not possible on SG300-52. If its possible to enable L3 switching on SG300-52?
