we've to configure our router 1841 to use both 2 interface Fe for two different vlan (also the second has to go on internet).
Actually we have int Fe0/0 configured with an ip address 192.168.1.1 for lan1 192.168.1.0/24 and we will use the second int Fe0/1 with another ip address like 192.168.2.1 for lan2 192.168.2.0/24.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to roll out a new internet router. The problem I am faced with is the LEC only supports VLAN 1227 and greater, specifically they are assigning me VLAN 2528. I am able to create the sub-interface and setup dot1q encapsulation for VLAN 2528, but the vlan database does not have the ability to add VLAN 2528 to it so I am unable to get layer 2 up and going, thus preventing me from getting the implementation done.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have a 1841 Cisco router for one of our remote sites and we have the GRE over IPSec tunnel on it (with our datacenter router) for the connectivity. The LAN facing interface becomes UP/Down (status 'UP', Protocol 'Down'). When I login the router and 'shut' and then 'no shut' the interface, the interface becomes UP and everything starts to work. Traffic starts to flow across it. But after some time, some hours or sometimes some days, the interface is again back to up/down status. The router is connected to a non-Cisco switch. I do see some CRC's increasing very slowly, but apart from that there seems nothing wrong with the interface in sho int fas0/0 command:

We got a layer3 switched network, with one vlan for every switch, routed by a cat4006. [code] So can we put some ports on different switches in, let`s say vlan 50, with different ips? For example, Port 0/3 on Switch 1 and 0/8 on Switch 2, but keeping the ip of the "old" vlan? I'm trying to configure "IP PIM SPARSE-MODE" command on a vlan interface on a 3560E switch but it doesn't give me the option to do this. The only option available is ip pim passive. What would cause this ? On the same switch a physical interface is already configured with IP PIM SPARSE-MODE.

any VLAN interface once administratively down or simply down shows on "show interface status" output as VLAN.While it supposed to show "Routed". However once the port is up it is shows "routed" like it should.
I understand the vlans on the catalyst side of the house on 2900 to 6500 Catalyst switches.
This 7010 running nx-os 5.1(3) I did not setup, but have to manage it. Hasn't really been a proble till now.
My nexus 7010 has a Layer 2 only vlan 11. It is "Active" but the interface is "shutdown". Yet, it is passing traffic across the directly connected ports on the nexus 7010 and to other switches in my network. Vlan 11 is being set out via VTP to all my switches and things are running fine.
I need to create another L2 only Vlan. I can't seem to find any docs that indicate that a Layer2 vlan Interface on nx-os should be in "shutdown" mode as part of the setup. I do see in the docs where it has to be set "Active" as part of the process.
Is this the correct way to seutp a L2 only vlan on nex-os? Leave the interface in "shutdown" but make it "Active"?
Mystery Vlan 4 and 6
The mystery deepens. I have other L2 vlans ,Vlan4&6 that are NOT defined as "Interface Vlan4" in the nexus config, yet it is applied to GigE ports on the nexus and these Vlans 4/6is also being sent out VTP to all switches. Even weirder is that these vlans have names associated with the numbers. These are valid Vlans that were configured on the old 6509 before the Nexus was installed.
I have checked all switches, NONE are running in Server mode for VTP, all are in CLIENT. The nexus 7010 is the only device running in VTP Server mode.
i'm going mad on following problem. I'm trying to get 2 networks seeing each other while one of the network is a non VLAN network and the other one is a VLAN network.They should use the same interface so i added VLAN e0/0.122 to the interface e0/0.Send a ping from my asa to both gw-IP's made me happy at first. In second in figured out that i cannot reach any client in the other network. For testing purpose i created an permit acl to any/any for both networks, but the packets still get dropped by the default implicit rule. (deny any/anyMaybe i'm to stupid for this
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have configured a vlan interface on a 3750 switch. there is aprox 4Mb active traffic flowing through the interface, but when I do a "show interface vlan (vlanid)" the output show zero bits in and zero bits out. Its a typical L3 config with one IP on the vllan interface acting as the gateway for the VLAN devices. Is this a normal behaviur ? and if so is there any way to get the traffic in/out stats. The end PC/devices are connected to this switch via an L2 TRUNK and I dont have access to the L2 switch on which the actual devices connect. so cant get the real time stats of those interfaces.

I would like to extend the SITE A VLAN to SITE B so that I can move hosts from SITE A to SITE B without needing to change their IP address but the vlan ID is already in use. Obviously the easy solution is to change the VLAN ID for one or other of the sites but both sites contain hosts that run 24/7. Is there a way to join two VLANs with different IDs together.So for example I create a new VLAN 60 at SITE B and associate it with VLAN 50 at SITE A.

I have a 3750G switch in my production network that only has VLAN 1 on it. All ports are in a default state and VLAN 1 is disabled. The switch is passing traffic but shouldn't having the default VLAN shut down cause the ports not to pass traffic? If I start to create VLANs will that cause the switch to stop passing traffic?

One linux machine is connected on FastEthernet port 0 on each router. The two linux machines are on same vlan. I am trying to establish a vlan-to-vlan tunnel between the routers and send traffic between the linux machines.
I followed the case study 11.4 from [URL] and configured the l2tp-class and pseudowire-class. However, the vlan interface configuration is different on 890 router.
I configured a vlan interface as follows.

We have a low bandwith (15-20 Mbit/s) to the ASA from our Client vlan. If i connect the Client to the same vlan as the ASA is, the bandwith (90 Mbit/s) is good.
Here are the Layer 3 Design:

I have a Cisco ASA 5505 and I have my internal and external interfaces configured but I currently cannot ping from the inside to an IP Address on the outside. I had this setup and working and I have another set of equirement that I am replacing that is working with my service provider so I know it is a configuration issue. When I ping 4.2.2.2 for example I get:

Do I need to add a static route from my inside interface to my outside interfaces?

Here's my network topology:
I have two VLANs - 10 and 20. 2 DHCP pools are configured on 2 1841's interfaces - 192.168.1.0 /25 and 192.168.1.128/26 with default router sitting on 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.129 respectively. No issues with obtaining IP address from any of those pools.Laptop connects to L3 3550 switch (switchport access vlan 10), which, in turn, connects to 1841 router through trunk (with VLANs 10 and 20 allowed).3550 is connected to 2960 through trunk with VLANs 10 and 20 allowed.Wireless router is connected to 2960.I can successfully ping my wireless router and outside world from 1841 from fa0/1 interface, but not from fa0/1.10 or fa0/1.20 sub-interfaces - all packets got dropped. My laptop can obtain IP from both pools (depending on port I connect it to), but can't ping my wireless router and anything beyond it.

I have a Cisco 1841 router at home with version 12.4(13r)T advanced ip services. The setup is extremely simple:
1) PPPOE dialer to my service provider over ADSL
2) Nat overload on the dialer interface.
3) 2 V LAN s one for home network (wired) and one for wireless both v LAN's are connected through interface v LAN s respectively.
My problem is when I configure static NAT to map RDP or any other protocol to inside hosts this does n`t work.

When I open wire shark and sniff the traffic on home computer which is the one I`m trying to reach I can't see any traffic. And While performing Nat debugging I am also not able to see traffic going to that port (for example 3389).
I've got an 1841 router and am using NAT to expose certain IPs and ports to the outside world so that external users can see internal resources (namely, web sites). However, I can't seem to get it running such that I can visit the external IP address from inside the network and get the router to turn the request around so that it is redirected back inside the network. Shouldn't this be possible? Our previous router (a non-Cisco) was able to do this, but I can't seem to get the new one to do it.
