Cisco Switching/Routing :: 2960 Default Gateway Ip Route

Jan 24, 2013

I have a Cisco 2960 ( WS-C2960-8TC-S)  running 12.2(46)SE  C2960-LANLITEK9-M  image.I would like to set an ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 87.101.156.97  but the current image does not allow.Will ip default-gateway 87.101.156.97 work or do I need ip routing ?The ISP has provided a /30 address and we are using an additional /29 for our network devices.  I dont think this image can be upgraded.  I need to forward routes directly out to ISP. Cisco Switching/Routing :: How To Reset 2960 To Factory Default

May 31, 2012

I have a cisco 2960 that I seemed to have lost the password. Its just a test switch. I would like to know how to reset it to factory default. I have managed to get to a switch: prompt by holding in the small mode button on the front of the switch and pluging in the power but lost from here.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Default Password For 2960-C Layer 3 Switch

Dec 23, 2012

I just received a Catalyst 2960-C (WS-C2960C-8TC-L R) switch and I am unable to sign into its web GUI in order to configure it. I've tried both the Cisco Network Assistant and Internet Explorer and I am unable to log in either way. The documentation provided by Cisco states that the default password is simply cisco and that a username is unnecessary. Needless to say, it doesn't work. I've also Googled for other default passwords (such as cisco-cisco as the username-password), none of which worked either. I've also tried resetting the switch back to its factory default a few times.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 4500 / 2960 - How Layer 2 Switch Works Without Default Gateway

Aug 14, 2012

4500 switch is connected to 2960 switch.

4500  config
Vlan 10
name Data

It has ip helper configured that points to DHCP.From 4500  switch port  - port  x connects to 2960 port.Port x is configured as trunk between 4500 and 2960.

2960 config
vlan 10
name data

All user ports are configured under vlan 10 and as access ports.Port x is trunk port connected frpm 2960  to 4500 switch allowing vlan 1 and 10 only.This switch has no default gateway configured.

We connected user PC on 2960 switchports and they were able to get the IP from DHCP server and were able to access the network? My question is how users on 2960 switch are able to access the network without ip default-gateway configured  on 2960 switch?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 2960 No Internet Access From VLAN

Feb 6, 2012

I have a 2960-S running the lastest software for testing on my bench:
Switch Ports Model              SW Version            SW Image
------ ----- -----              ----------            ----------
*    1 24    WS-C2960-24-S      15.0(1)SE2            C2960-LANLITEK9-M
I have set up VLAN 2 on 192.168.2.0/24 with the switch as the DHCP server.  The switch is connected to an RV082 router which is at 192.168.1.65/27.  Once I figure out what I doing I'll eventually shift that to 192.168.1.0/24 or something similar.  So I have my switch acting as the DHCP server for VLAN 2 but I can't figure out how to get it to access the internet.

I found this example to set up the DHCP server:
###################################
this works to get vlan 2 to serve ips
conf t
.....

The RV082 doesn't support trunks AFIK and I'm pretty much a newb at this stuff.  TIA.  I guess I should get a real router and I most likely will but I'd like to get this working if possible before taking the next plunge.

By default the trust state of a port is not to trust anything, however rather than rewriting the DSCP value of the incoming packets and settign it to 0 the switch now seems to leave the DSCP value unchanged.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Inter Access Switch Fiber Connectivity 2960-48PS

Jan 16, 2012

I had a strange issue yesterday when onsite installing a new access switch.Port capacity full on a two switch stack of 3750 x48 PS switches (WS-C3750- 48PS-E)- New 2960 x48 PS - WS-C2960S-48FPS-L racked, with the plan of using it just as an edge switch via SFP Stacking cable.Setup the two connecting ports with simple initial config: - switchport mode trunk- no encapsulation option on the 2960, default dot1q- dot1q set on 3750 port- no shut on both sides.Connected the SFP Stacking cable but it didnt work:- %PHY-4-SFP_NOT_SUPPORTED: The SFP in Gi1/0/1 is not supported

This is ok as I had a backup:- Next step tried using 2 x Short Haul SFP SX GBIC's with LC - LC OFNP 50/125 fibre patch lead  - no joy- Extra backup of 2 x Long Haul SFP LX GBIC's with the same fibre patch - no joy- Checked the fibre and it was not a cross over so transmit and receive going down the same side, switchedand still would not come up.- Used Fibre as a straight through and still the same.In all cases there was no indication of any life in the connection.It is pointing to a faulty fibre patch lead but I know it has worked in the past. Could it be something to do with the config or device incompatibility? Or any setting I need to activate?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 2960 SI Lan Lite ACLs - Configuring For Admin And Guest Access
