Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3750E-24PD-S Stack Member Fan Failed Syslog Message
Aug 6, 2012
I have a pair of 3750E-24PD-S stacked together, it seems after stacked together the stacked switch always flood the console screen with these messages which are not true: [code] Switch-2 is the stack member, Switch-1 is the stack master. The RPS fan failed refers to RPS2300 or the internal power supply of 3750E? Even when I turned on the RPS2300 the stacked switch still display the messages. Also I have two RPS2300 serving stack master and stack member respectively both RPS2300 were switched off why the messages only refer to Switch-2 and not Switch-1? [code]

I have 2 3750-x members in a stack running 12.2(58)SE2. I am able to console into the stack master, which happens to be the top switch, but not able to console into the 2nd member. I get the screen stating the console is available but never get the prompt to login. Is this expected behavior? On our stacks of 3750v2's, I'm able to console to any switch in the stack?

I have a 3 member CBS3120X-S stack in a HP C7000 enclosure (switches 1, 3, and 5). Switch 1, (the previous stack master) is not showing up in the stack and all the ports are down. Switch 3 has taken over as master, but I don't know what happened to switch 1. The system and stack lights are green and I am not seeing any messages in the log. I reset switch 1 and that did not resove the issue. I disconnected the stack cable and reset the switch again (pulled it out and pushed it back in) and connected to it with a console cable. I get nothing on the console, not even rommon mode. I was connected at the default baud rate that worked when I connected the conole of the other switches in the stack, so I don't think is a serial configuration issue. If this is CBS hardware problem, I don't understand why the system light is green.
Switches 1,3, 5 and provision configuration:
switch 1 provision ws-cbs3120g-s
switch 3 provision ws-cbs3120x-s
switch 5 provision ws-cbs3120g-s

I have two 3750X in a stack. Each 3750X has one 10Gb uplink to primary core1 and one 1Gb uplink to backup core2 configured in 2 etherchannel groups. The member switch has bad ports, so I need to replace it. I have spare 3750X unit. Is it possible to connect the spare unit to the stack and then move the RJ-45 cables from the member with bad ports to the new member? That way I can minimize servers downtime to just a few seconds..If that would work, then the last step would be to move the 10Gb networking module from old member to the new one, as well as the secondary PSU. Is it doable? Also according to the documentation, all I need to add new member is matching IOS version, correct?

I've got a 3750 stack with a 3750-48p being switch 1 and a 3750-12s being switch 2 and switch 2 is the master. I would like to change the stack member numbers. I would like the 3750-12s to be switch 1 and the 3750-48p to be switch 2. I undertand I will have to reboot the stack for the change to take affect but here are my questions: How would this change affect the stack running-config ? will the switchport config follow the change ?

The stackwise marketing info states that when a failed member is replaced with a new switch the replacement switch "gets the exact configuration of the old device". I would figure it takes a little more than just disconnecting and connecting a new switch in the same spot on the stack. doing this with 3750 family switches? What are the steps to prepare the stack for a new member? what steps need to be taken on the replacement switch before insertion into the stack to make sure it gets configured like the unit it was replacing?

1) current switch have below mentioned switch stack details
.
switch#sh switchSwitch/Stack Mac Address : fcfb.xyz.8b80H/W CurrentSwitch# Role Mac Address Priority Version State----------------------------------------------------------*1 Master fcfb.xyz.8b80 10 0 Ready3 Member 2893.xyz.3180 1 0 Ready
2) I am in process of changing switch member number from 3 to 2 , I executed the command on the global config mode " switch 3 renumber 2 "but I yet to reload the switch .
here I have I doubt . as currently the ports module are fas 1/0/1-48 and fas 3/0/1-48 under respective vlan . once I reload the switch is the switch port module number will get change to fastethernt 3/0/1-48 to fastethenet 2/0/1-48 ??? . if it happens the vlan configuation which configured on the fas 3/0/1-48 module also get configured automatically or I need to configure manually
3) as i said i have execuated the command : "switch 3 renumber 2 " , how to remove this or revert the change , as i checked in the running config this command not exist .
switch ( config) # switch 3 renumber 2WARNING: Changing the switch number may result in aconfiguration change for that switch. The interface configuration associated with the old switchnumber will remain as a provisioned configuration.Do you want to continue?[confirm]Changing Switch Number 3 to Switch Number 2New Switch Number will be effective after next reboot

According to the following Cisco webpage, cross-stack 10-Gigabit EtherChannel is possible on the 3750 with up to two 10-Gigabit modules, using LACP: url...However, the webpage doesn't confirm if this functionality is restricted to a particular 3750 model, such as 3750E, or if it applies to all models. It also doesn't specify any particular IOS feature set. I've tried Cisco Software Advisor but it doesn't list this feature on either the 3750E or 3750-X. This is possible on the 2960-S switches (i.e. cross-stack 10gig EtherChannel)?

I have configured about 20 of these switches now, and notice in the port listings a TE1/1//1 TE1/1/2 and GI1/1/1 GI1/1/2 uplink port. There are only two uplink SFP+ ports. I now have a reason to install with a 1Gb uplink to the Core. I am using a GLC-LH module at each end. I did configure the TE1/1/1 port for the uplink. Does not work though..Do I need to configure the two GI1/1/1 and 1/1/2 ports for uplink, remove the TE configuration for the uplink to work? Using the UNIVERSAL code with a LANBase license.

We have a current 3-stack 3750 ( 48-P,48-TS & 3750v2-48PS ) running fine. There is a plan to introduce a fourth stack member ( 3750X-48P ) into this stack.as per cisco documentation, it suggests to use 3750X as master for a mixed stack. In this case, we will need to upgrade current other 3 stack switches to a latest version.,Can we do a no-downtime ios upgrade on the existing 3-switch stack?, when this upgrade is done, is there any way to have the new ios pushed down to all three stack members at the same time or do we need to each member upgrade seperately?, for adding the fourth member, is it acceptable if master is ruuning ver eg. 12.2(55) and all rest of the members run ver 12.2(53) ? will this create any issues and will stacking be successful.

I have a switch stack with three WS-C3750X-48 switches running 12.2(55)SE. Recently, stack member 3 went offline for a few minutes, after being online for over a year. A show version on member 3 reports that the system returned to ROM by power-on.
Stack member 3 shares a UPS with a router that did not lose power and all three stack members have stack power with four 350 WATT power supplies between the three of them. There are no crashinfo files on any of the switches, log files show the stack ports on the other switches going offline then switch 3 being removed from the stack.
Surveillance recordings show there was no one near the switch during the time and AAA accounting shows no clues. Is it possible the switch crashed without leaving a trace in the logs, a crashinfo file and report that it returned to ROM by power-on?
I've read before that loose stack cables can cause stack member reboots. Would such an event generate log messages other than the stack ports changing states to down?

We have got 2 3750 switches in the stack which are connected to access switches with 2 uplink ports . each 1 uplink from each physical stack switch .
Due to some power issue our member switch got rebooted. After the reboot the access switches were not reachable through ping , but i was abe to see access switches in "show cdp neighbour" . Then i rebooted the master switch and member switch one after other . after which i was able to ping the access switches.

We have 2 Cat 6509 connected to 1 Gbps Ethernet WAN Link. On each 6509 we use 2 Gbps IPSec SPA Encryption cards for Encryption. The encrypted traffic goes to a GRE Tunnel. This morning I found some error messages in syslog.
%CONST_DIAG-SP-3-HM_TEST_FAIL: Module 1 TestIPSecEncrypDecrypPkt consecutive failure count:2
There were also several short tunnel downs/ups. I wonder if there is a bug in the new IOS image 12.2(33)SXI2a. We upgraded to this image last weekend.

I want to use an EEM applet on a Cisco IOS 2431 voice gateway running 15.1(2)T to take action upon expiration of a SIP registration (with its sip registrar). I thought that it might be possible to use existing error messages generated by the ios sip application to trigger an EEM applet. Is there a reference that lists all SYSLOG messages that SIP can generates, and their error levels? Can you show me how to turn on syslog messages, so that I can cause a SIP registration expiration on my GW and then see what SYSLOG messages are produced?
I think I understand how to write an applet and its event trigger from a SYSLOG message pattern, but I am having trouble seeing any SIP error messages at all, except if I turn on Debug, which usually produces way too many messages and may impact performance.

Pure 3750X-48PS ip base stack. One switch reboots from a power issue (possibly the master switch? Haven't confirmed yet in the 3 cases I've seen)The rest of the stack stays running fine (as it should), the rebooted switch rejoins the stack just fine
What I've observed after this scenario takes place is that network throughput on any port in the entire stack is severely degraded. Prior to the one switch rebooting, I can hit gigabit transfer rates going anywhere on any of the switches in the stack. After one member reboots by itself, I typically hit a transfer wall around 5-20mbps in one direction and sometimes better going the other direction. I've only confirmed this on 3750X stacks and I can replicate it every time. Newest code I've experienced it with is 12.2(58)SE1. I have not seen confirmed reports of this on older 3750 (E, G, plain) stacks of which we have a ton of.
Rebooting the entire stack so that all 3750X members are coming up at the same time solves the transfer rate issue every time. I would think there has to be a better way to get performance back to normal or prevent the performance hit in the first place.
