Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3750X - Connect C3KX-NM-10G To X2 10G Port On Sup2t In 6500E?
Mar 17, 2013
Is it possible to connect 3750X with C3KX-NM-10G to X2 10G port on sup2t in 6500E switch. There is Cisco OneX Converter Module, but I could not find that it is supported on sup2t.
our network is spread over 15 floors and each floor we have 5-6 switches. we are planning to purchase cat3750-x 24 ps poe with C3KX-NM-10G network modules. Each floor has two up links to the core switch with single mode fiber and other being the multimode.Suppose if we are purchasing 75 switches do we have to purchase 75 C3KX-NM-10 G modules.? or can we limit our purchase with 15 C3KX-NM-10G sothat two uplinks from each floor can be made? since network modules are optional cost factor is invovled. Or any issue with stacking ? the SFPs will be LR and LRM MODULES.looking for an answer ? whether the new usb type console cable comes bundled with cat350x or shall we have to order separately?
I need to connect one sw3750E with two 3750X , with Uplinks at 10 GBps. My doubt is the next:
Switch 3750E has two TwinGig Adapter Converting 10 Gigabit Ethernet X2, phisically each twinGig adapter has 2 slots for SFP modules. Can I install sfp+ If I want to use copper for Uplink at 10 Gbps, I just need to install one SFP-H10GB-CU5M transceiver ???? the other SFP slot is disabled automatically?
in the other side 3750X in order to support copper at 10 Gbps a C3KX-NM-10G network module is considered, this will be connected to SW3750E by means of SFP-H10GB-CU5M.
The second 3750X will be connected to second twinGig Adapter of 3750E using another SFP-H10GB-CU5M transceiver.
I have a customer that in the past has been using 6506E chassis with Sup32 and the WS-X6196-21AF cards for their closet. With the End of Sale of this combination and the announced End of Sale of the Sup720-3B announced, this kind of pushes the configuration to a Sup 2T.BUT the SUP 2T does not support these low speed high density cards.
Is there a card coming that will address need? Customer generally has had dual sup32's and 3 to 4 cards of the 96port AF.They stock spares besides haveing smartnet on the boxes or moving to a different platform like the 4510R+ or stacks of switches will mess them up.
is it possible to shutdown a specific port on my 3750x and monitor this port at the same time .for example , im dealing with a mac authenticated network using port security , i want to shut down all the ports that are not used at the moment , however , if some one gets connected to the one of the shutdown ports i want to know the mac address of the user or atleast to know that i have someone who is just plugged in to the one of the shutdowned ports .
What is the point of it? It is not a remote console. If i reboot the switch i cannot get back to the out of band management port unless the switch is fully running. Is this only for security purposees? so all telnet/ssh is from an Out of band network?
Assume I had Catalyst 3560X/3750X with 24 ports. The partnumber is WS-C3560X-24P-LI would like to how is the numbering defined if the switches have a C3KX-NM-10G installed with 4 SFP-GE-L.
I want to limit the bandwidth going to remote site on the switch connecting to our netapp. We have a 4 port channel group setup on our 3750x switch going to our netapp storage. We have a Wan 100mb link to our remote site and we want only 60MBs of that link to be used for Netapp traffic all other local traffic needs to use the full amount of the bandwidth to the netapp.
Is possible to allocate bandwidth in this way and how would I go about this? We dont have access to the routers for the link and they plug directly into a port on our cisco.
We purchased a number of 3750X 48 and 24 port switches for the College Campus. Am finally getting around to getting them inserted on the network. Working with a WS-3750X-48PF-S and a WS-3750X-24P-L. Have them stacked with the 10Gb uplink on the 48 port switch. Have not been having fun.In the boot sequence, the switches recognize they are stacked, but as soon as they finish boot, I get the message on the 48 port switch: “Stack Port 1 Switch 1 has changed to state down.” Then “Stack Port 2 Switch1 has changed to state down.” Am noticing that I have a message preceding that: “Major version mismatch with stack neighbor.”The 48 port is running c3750e-universalk9-mz.150-1.SE3, HBOOT 12.2(53r)SE2.The 24 port is running c3750e-unversalk9-mz.122-55.SE3, HBOOT 12.2(53r)SE2Most of our 3750X and older switches are running 122-55 or 122.58 code. IP base or Universal. There is speculation that the problem is the 24 Port is Lan base, as the part number might indicate. (WS-C3750X-24-P-L.... I think that is the part number) and the 48 is IP base. Both switches are Universal, and my understanding is that they don't care about LAN or IP Base until you enable a function that falls in the IP Base domain. Then I have to call Cisco Licensing. For these switches, LAN Base is fine, based on the boot message, I feel the real problem is 122-55 versus 150-1 in the stack. So.. the question is: Do I downgrade the 48 port to match what we have in our environment, and what is on the 24 port switch. Or... Upgrade the 24 port switch to match the 48 port switch and have an installation that is not consistent with our environment? I do have two more edge closets to install with this purchase of 3750X 48 port switches.
What I am attempting to achieve is to aggregate trunk ports out of a VMware server into a single logical connection to give as much bandwidth as possible, the switches are 3750X and are three stacked together with the server connections spread across the stack. What I am not sure about is if two port channel load balance protocols can happy co-exist on the switch, by default the switch is using MAC address load balancing and Vmware wants to use IP Source load balancing. As other trunks and channels exist on the switch I don't want to make a change that will affect the other live connections if changing this is a global setting and not local on the channel.
Possible to configure multichassis port-channel between a VSS and 3750X (Port-channel not in the same switch on the 3750X stack). I got it using LACP but I need Pagp to get VSL redundancy “dual-active detection pagp trust channel-group 1”. I am using the last VSS IOS version 15.0(1)SY. I can’t get the option “switch 1 preempt”, has it changed with other option?
I'm trying to get an IP_ADDR set on the management port in SWITCH: mode but for some reason the port seems disabled. PC shows connection unplugged. MGMT_INIT is not a valid command (not listed under '?' ). Bootloader version is 12.2(53R)SE2 FC1.
I need to tear down an existing port-channel on a 3750X running c3750e-universalk9-mz.150-1.SE3.bin. This port channel is currently down down. It has three ports in it that will be added one each to three existing port-channels, I am assuming as long as the "channel-group" command is exactly the same as it is on the three existing port-channels I should be ok just adding the new port. One point to note is that the three existing port-channels all have three ports so this will be adding the fourth port to each port-channel. I know after reading that it is a best practice for load balancing to use either 2, 4, or 8 ports for a port-channel. Also what is the command to see all ports that are in a port channel?
I have two stacks 3750X on two different sites with two links L_2_L, and I want to configure the port channel to aggregate the two links.
Site A Site B 3750X -A1 --------------------------------------( )--------------------------------------- 3750X -B1 ( L-2-L ) 3750X -A2 --------------------------------------( )--------------------------------------- 3750X -B2
Below the configuration that I have put the two stacks.
site A interface Port-channel5 description Etherchannel group entre le stack 3750X-A et Switch Lan_2_Lan switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q switchport trunk allowed vlan 11,12,999 switchport mode trunk switchport nonegotiate speed 100
But the problem is only one link is Bundeled in channel group, see below
Group Port-channel Protocol Ports ------+-------------+-----------+----------------------------------------------- 5 Po5(SU) LACP Gi1/0/15(I) Gi2/0/15(P)
Cisco 6500 with 2T supervisor engine with following software Cisco IOS Software, s2t54 Software (s2t54-IPSERVICESK9-M), Version 15.0(1)SY1, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc4)
The problem is that, I am not able to configure Multilayer Switching (MLS) (mls rp ip) in the global config command. Although the "mls" is visible on the config menu. but when I say "mls ?", the router prompt "unrecognize command"
Not sure if SUP 2T support MLS or it come with different name.
I have a 6509 witch a sup vs-Sup2T, and I´m very confuse for to configure QoS. is diferent in the old supervisor..What is the command similar to map cos to DSCP.. look
This is a configuration in a sw 4507
qos map dscp 56 to tx-queue 1 qos map cos 1 to dscp 10 qos map cos 2 to dscp 18 qos map cos 3 to dscp 26 qos map cos 4 to dscp 34 qos map cos 5 to dscp 46 qos
In 6509 with sup2T and version 15.0.SY2 Im no sure.. I see two command
I am trying to upgrade Sup2T from 15.0 to 15.1 (same feature sets). I have the new image in bootflash and have changed the boot system statement to boot from the new image and the config register is 0x2102. However, everytime it reboots it loads the old image. [code]
I have a 3750-x switch with module C3KX-NM-10G. In slots 1 and 3 I have GLC-T inserted, no problem. When I try to insert GLC-T into slots 2 or 4, I receive the log messages that are listed below. I can swap/mix and match different GLC-T's in slots 1,2,3, and 4, the SFP's are recognized every time in slots 1 and 3, and are never recognized in slots 2 or 4.
Slots 2 and 4 also double as the Ten Gig interfaces, which we are not using right now.Is there some trick to getting the switch to recognize SFPs in slots 2 and 4? [code]
confirm the C3KX-NM-10G module is hot-swappable.i have checked the cisco's website and it says " Although network modules are hot-swappable, we recommend installing a network module before powering the switch"
What steps i need to follow to install the module?
I am migrating services from SUP720-3B to VS-SUP2T-10G= and moving to a VSS configuration between a pair of Cat6506 distribution layer switches. I need to enable QoS on these switches, primarily to trust dscp and also to prioritise voice traffic. The autoqos feature works for some ports but does not work on port-channel interfaces and port-channel member interfaces. How can I apply the qos settings for these interfaces in line with what auto qos would normally provide. My line cards are as follows:
Civic_6506VSS#sho mod Mod Ports Card Type Model Serial No. --- ----- -------------------------------------- ------------------ ----------- 1 4 CEF720 4 port 10-Gigabit Ethernet WS-X6704-10GE
We are planning to implement the 6509-E with two Sup 2Ts and a few 48 ports switches. We also want to make this the router for our network and replace the 7206VRX.
I have a catalyst 6506E (WS-C6506-E) with a SUP2T supervisor (VS-S2T-10G) card and a 10G interface card (WS-X6816-10G-2T) + DFC4.I have configured an etherchannel to another switch with the 2 10Giga ports of the SUP2T card and 2 10giga ports of the interface card.I only use the 10Giga ports of the SUP2T card so the cards have the same QOS transmit capabilities. But they do not have the same receive capabilities.
So when I configure QOS (with the new commands on SUP2T) on my 4 ports within the Etherchannel, 2 ports move down because of the inconsistency. Till this point, no surprise.
The problem is that the command "no platform qos channel consistency" replacing the "no mls qos channel-consistency" does not exist.I run the last IOS 12.2(50)SY1 IPSERVICESK9.
And I cannot have QOS on my Etherchannel on the 2 cards.Or I have to use 4 ports of my interface card but in case of failure of this card, I loose the whole etherchannel.I there a way to avoid the consistency check ?
I have C3750X with C3KX-NM-10G, and have-T SFP in slot 3 ( means it is not in SFP+ slot ).I need to set speed&duplex hard to 100/Full, but if I do the link goes down. I have the same settings on the other side, only IOS version is different.I tried other speeds - 10 and 1000, but no one works with Full. When I change duplex to Auto it works fine. The reason why I am doing this on C3KX-NM-10G is because I need to use NetFlow and cannot use the chassis' copper port. At the moment the ports are connected through a copper patch cord, but in full production there will be a radio link in between that requires 100M/Full to be set hard.I am trying to search for any document that would describe this limitation, but cannot find any. Also port capabilities do not indicate duplex could not be set to full:
A product I could have used a number of times is a expanded version of the C3KX-NM-1G device module. To include 2 or maybe 4 more SFP ports. From the layout behind the faceplate there is plenty of space which additional circuit boards could be placed, (which is used in the 2 port 10GB version). I don't need the 12 port fiber switch that Cisco has, because I need a few RJ45 connection at that location, which I would then have to buy additional Fiber to coper Gbics for a few connections where the switch is at. The reason I need something like this is I have a few locations which I get a main feed from the City fiber, then it gets sent out to a number of local buildings on my fiber. Maybe another option is to take the 12port switch, and have an option for 6 rj45 and 6 sfp connections.
I am trying to connect tow 3560X using a fiber cable (MM)I have C3KX-NM-10G in both switches (4 ports module)I have GLC-SX-MM in both switches (connected to G1/1)both switches are able to see & recognize the NM as well as the SFP.
Fiber Cable is tested Fiber Patch Cord also tested both ports configured as a trunks but also the switches are not able to see each other (even when I removed the trunks configuration from both of them)CDP neibour is showing nothing no links & no LED blink in any switch both switches are running c3560e-universalk9-mz.122-55.SE3 IOS?
There is no any other configuration in both switches.
I have a Catalyst WS-C3750X-24T-S with two power supply C3KX-PWR-440WDC, each of these power supply have two input to deliver 440 W, my question is: Can I use only one Input in each power supply to power up the switch?, I know that I dont going to get the total power of 440W, but the power delivers by the supply with one input circuit is enough to power up the switch condidering that the switch are not PoE and only have 24 ports?.
We recently purchased 2 Cisco 6500 series switches (with Sup 2T). These switches will be replacing our old 2 6500 series switches (with Sup 720).
We have 70 vlans and 90+ closet switches (2900) connecting the core switches We have 2 WLC connected to the core switch. We also have a 1 x 1 connection to a VSS switch which in turn connects to our Server Co-Location data center utilizing IPSec & GRE tunnel to connect to our Server Co-Location data center.
Our routing protocol is EIGRP. Our VTP domain at Server Co-Location is separate from our location “A” campus. I was wondering what is the best way to migrate our Core switches at location “A” campus.
The requirement is we would like to replace these switches with minimum downtime.
